Headcanon - Zero Having a Saber Teacher part 1

Another thing I wanna talk about but probably make a part 2 to this, since I’m itching to but don’t wanna spoil very much!!

Zero having a saber teacher was definitely something I wasn’t aiming for at first, but I thought it would be cool to have Zero even learn some saber skills. He could easily learn them from Sigma before his rebellion, but I also love the idea of X wanting to be taught sword techniques.

I actually thought of this when I was listening to “Do It for Him” in the Steven Universe soundtrack, and it kinda stuck, and I wanted to make this character. With the help of my best friend’s input, Kejicchi Kumo was born.

His origin story was also brought up on the spot on my end, and I have a few ideas I stuck with and thought would be interesting.

I’m excited to have him debut in the AU fic and progress from there~. I’m excited for most OCs getting a debut and developing throughout the series but ya know XD

1- Kimi no Hanashi / Your story (君のはなし - 栗甘露煮缶 | 同人誌通販のアリスブックス (alice-books.com))

Generally, it is an AU if Zero has survived after Z4, his body is severely damaged so Ciel helps update it into Mythos version. So now the war is over, there are peaceful days ahead, Zero now struggles to find his purpose to continue to live. With his memories of X, he questions his true self. And yes, it is established ZeroX (even though X is only seen through Zero's memory), a lot of Zero and Ciel interactions.

The story starts with X telling Zero:

"This is your story, the story that only belongs to you. About the things you have lost, the things you have gained, things that were robbed from you, things that were gifts to you. Or the people that you love and the people that love you.

All of them, I really want to hear them one day"

And ends with Zero tell X:

"Maybe the "I" now is not the "I" you know anymore X, but just a little, I understand the meaning of your words now. One unknown day, I will surely come to you side, and then, there's a lot of stories I have to tell you."

So a short summary: Axl is troubled because of his unkown origin, he cannot becomes a hunter yet. So in order to solve it, he asks Zero and X to get married and adopt him, then he has a clear origin now, doesn't he (｡•̀ᴗ-)✧?

Later the three of them pay a visit to Red's grave (in casual clothes, I'm a sucker for casual clothes version of them!!!)

3- Ah, Ofutari-san / Hey you two- (アーオフタリサン - GAIA666 | 同人誌通販のアリスブックス (alice-books.com))

It's nothing serious, just Axl gets stuck between Zero and X's stupid couple moments. They think they hide their romance well, but Axl has something to say......... It's a gag, comedy book ehe.

The line "Ah ofutari-san" is from MegaMan Command Mission I think, when Zero and X make up, they are so caught up with each other that Axl has to say this line to bring them back to the situation at hands lol

4- Dandelion (ダンデライオン（hoicyo）の通販・購入はフロマージュブックス | フロマージュブックス (melonbooks.co.jp))

Just a short story show how much Zero pay attention to X's rambling xD. Just imagine a Zero in casual clothes, goes out shopping then sees dandelion and remembers what X said about them, so he picks them, puts them into his hat to bring them back to X, it's really cute // w \\. Not to mention armor-less Zero and X are so beautiful ¬‿¬)

It's short, it's cute. How X is overthinking too much that he falls asleep, Zero just quietly stays with him. Then Axl barges in asking for X's help with his report. The cute thing is that Zero says X is sleeping soundly because he knows Zero is there to guard him. Also he would wake up immediately if someone else come in, but because it is Axl, whom he trusts, he continues to sleep // v \\. Axl finally realizes how dere X is ahaha. Short but very very cute!

6- A book about thighs/ Futomomo no hon (ふとももの本（hoicyo）の通販・購入はフロマージュブックス | フロマージュブックス (melonbooks.co.jp))

It's 18+ but not too explicit and yes the story is about X's thighs *coughs

I like the setting that if you remove the boots, it will look like this:

I mean, not only it's kinda hot (sorry for my weird kink) it also shows how much X trusts Zero to let him take off his legs like that. I mean, without the foot parts, it's hard to run in case of emergency, right?

7- Wotaka Part 2 (ヲタカツー（GAIA666）の通販・購入はフロマージュブックス | フロマージュブックス (melonbooks.co.jp))

The biggest regret is that I could not get the part 1 as it has been sold out long ago. This is a gag/comedy story about an otaku/fudanshi X befriends with artist Sigma over ZeroX doujins lol. Of course they don't know each other's true identities. Zero is not an otaku but he tags along for X's sake. Also Zero (Z series) and Cyber elf X make cameo.

Artist Sigma's struggle in making ZeroX book is really funny and relatable haha.

I really hope the artists will resell the part 1 book ToT)

Favorite game?

Nightmare – he is a Fossil. The guys got him Mario and it’s now the only game he plays(and he’s damn good at it). Aside from that, he plays dating sims on his phone when he’s bored(which he would never admit to)

Killer – MINECRAFT forever. He is everything your 3 week mc faze was but all the time and at max intensity. It’s his absolute favorite game because he doesn’t have to think too hard about it and can dissociate to it when he’s having a hard time. It helps that there’s no clear objective or timeline of events he’s tied to, so he can have a level of control he doesn’t irl, plus all the mods, shaders and different maps makes for an as close to happy as he could be Killer.

Dust – Mr “video games are for kids” who absolutely destroys EVERY. SINGLE. BEING. At Just Dance, Dance dance revolution and any rhythm game u can think of. But that doesn’t count…….. why? “Because I said so” -Dust

Horror– Stardew Valley, followed closely by Animal Crossing. Why? Pretty simple. Farming games first, and the controlled social aspect of friendships(and romantic interests in stardew). Stardew is not an easy game, but it’s not challenging in a way Horror can’t keep up with. Repetitive tasks and anything relating to food is his forte, after so many years of cooking and managing his own little farm(not to mention the private, quiet lessons from farmtale!sans when he goes to pick up food for his au)

(all i know about stardew i know through youtube and tiktok. keep that in mind)

Cross – used to be Mr “I can’t afford yo waste time on silly things like that” until he chilled tf out and started trying the games he saw others playing on the communal consoles. His favorite game is, unfortunately, CSGO, and he frequently plays with Killer just to absolutely annihilate the latter.

Zerox – Hue! Charming little game that has his whole heart and soul. First game they 100%ed out of pure love for it and desire for it to not end. Perfect mix between a nice, simple story with a happy ending and genuinely difficult puzzles wrapped in a fun concept!

S – He doesn’t play video games, actually. Of any kind. Yeah… not joking. Any free time he gets is spent somewhere out in nature or at Ccino's. Unfortunately for him, he doesn’t get much truly free time, but Zero does bring him coffee from Ccino's often enough that it’s bearable.

Bonus

Error – The Talos Principle. Perfect, immaculate, holds up incredibly well years later. (he went against Elohim from the first word he uttered). The only thing on par with his love for this game is Road to Gehenna, so, basically, nothing beats it or comes anywhere near. 100/10, author is planning on replaying it very soon as well.

(as a little aside, Error and Zero actually form a tentative friendship over their shared love for puzzle game, though Zero is borderline bad at them.)

Dream – He’s a phone game kinda guy, let’s be honest. The only games he plays are sudoku, word-related and tetris-like. His most recent favourite is 1010

Ink – Human Fall Flat. Need I say more? Probably. The amount of puzzles he’s skipped by accidentally parkouring around/over/through them is insane, and it makes him feel Good. Plus, it has no story he’d inevitably forget.

Blue – Little Nightmares, despite what you may think at first. He finds horror games therapeutic, and worked out his frustration at feeling so metaphorically small through playing Little Nightmares 1 and 2. While 1 is his favorite by far impact-wise, he loves how the story comes full circle and the lore implications of Little Nightmares 2

White Clover

My thoughts on the gorgeous song "Clover" by Toru Itoga, from MMZ2.

I've seen many translations of the lyrics, and they're all more or less the same. I'll use this one because it's convenient:

Some people think the mention of this "flower" refers to Iris. Maybe so, maybe so. She was important to him. He may have shared his fears with her about becoming a Maverick, or his dreams of his creator. I've always thought that perhaps he kept those things from X because he knew it would worry him unnecessarily; when you have to fight as your job, worrying that your best friend might be feeling constant anguish and fear, and even possibly be worrying he might become a Maverick, would be a huge distraction. Perhaps Zero was unwilling to place that burden on X's shoulders, so instead he told Iris. In the end, X was worrying about the same thing of himself. I think that may have played into Zero's long pause during X's cutscene at the end of X4 -- he realized that he could have talked to X about it all along. Or perhaps it confirmed that he couldn't -- because X was burdened by the same fears.

"White Clover is symbolic of the universal struggle for freedom."

That's interesting to me, because what Zero is talking about -- struggling to remember who he was and who he was "supposed to be", as well as vaguely remembering pain -- those are all psychological chains that weigh him down. Even though he has forgotten most of his memories, he is still aware that he has those ties to his former life, and feels they are still tying him to things he might otherwise be happy to get away from.

Zero's life during the X series was turbulent. I can imagine he might have taken a chance to start over.

Thus, struggling for freedom from his past.

And the rest of the song. He has resolved to walk this path that has been laid out before him, even though he does not remember anything that would have helped it all make sense.

It's beautiful, haunting, and special to me.

But why is it about clover? Let's get back to that. I found some interesting facts!

"Protection and male energy"

Perhaps X gave him that clover flower that he has in his pocket? Perhaps we can think of X as a protective figure for Zero right now, given his role as the "mentor" figure in the Zero series!

Or perhaps the songwriter is alluding to Zero as a protective figure, and the clover suits him!

Clover helps the soil! I can't think of a more needy, sun-baked wasteland than the Earth after the Elf Wars! With this, the clover flower might represent the healing of the planet as the characters go about their quests.

Clover is said to be a healing herb, after all.

Bees are super important for a healthy world!

"Clovers symbolize 'promise' and 'think of me'."

Again, it could be something about Iris, but I didn't find that relationship to be anything super special, deep, or sacred. Not all relationships HAVE to be super special or deep...but if you believe in soul mates, or just like the idea of soul mates, you kinda want more to point to than just "here is a boy, here is a girl, they like each other".

Or is it just me? XD

Most of us go through several relationships in our lives. Some of us have multiple relationships at the same time. Whether we remember those relationships fondly or not comes down to us as individuals. In real life, things are MUCH more complicated than they are in fiction, where things are often reduced down to only the main points the creators want us to observe and know.

So PROBABLY, they definitely want us to think Zero/Iris is or was an important thing.

However, I think there are people who worked on these games that are quietly nudging us ZeroX fans, too. ;3 I've heard people say "they only do it to sell merch and games", but I think that's a bit cynical for my liking. If they're okay with saying "Serges = Wily? The Player may decide what is the truth!", then they are going to HAVE to be okay with some of us Players deciding that ZeroX is the best pairing. v_v

WHICH BRINGS ME TO....

I see a way this clover thing could be about X, too. If ANYONE made promises to Zero, with Zero, or about Zero, it was X. And he would want Zero to remember him. Heck, X is the only one Zero DOES remember!

And that makes my heart all warm and fuzzy.

And now, my last, MOST IMPORTANT addition to this post:

"If someone carried a four-leaf clover, they would have the ability to see fairies".

headcanon!! Xev and Zero speak to each other in english and japanese!!

Okay lemme explain!!

Sometimes one will speak Japanese and the other will answer in english because they know each other that well after a few years. Especially establishing their relationship.

It gets to a point where if Xev goes mute/nonverbal because he feels very hurt or traumatized by something or someone (or even Zero himself), he’ll either speak sparse japanese or JSL, and Zero will immediately understand him and answer in english.

So just also imagine the Connected Eternity route where CE Xev is speaking either JSL or sparse Japanese and Zero answers in english.

WIP Wednesday but Once Again it’s Actually Thursday

I was going to post this yesterday, but forgot. Anyway this is the start of Querl and Nura talking about loss. Takes place during the last issue of v7, before Nura returns to Naltor. Also of note, being ‘blind’ by Naltorian standards means you don’t see the future.

“I don’t dream anymore. At least not of the future.”

They’re in the remnants of his lab, salvaging what little can be saved in silence when Nura suddenly speaks. 

It catches him off guard.

“What?”

“Grief has blinded me. I… I only dream of Thom now.”

Querl sets the hyperspanner down in the crate and turns to look at the Naltorian. She looks absolutely miserable, but continues.

“I thought about asking my sister if I could live with her and Blok on Zerox…”

“You know you can’t do that. The High Seer needs you.”

“How am I supposed to be Beren’s apprentice like this? How can I be High Seer if I’m blind?” Nura practically throws the crate she’s been carrying onto the ground, and gestures wildly. 

He shifts in place awkwardly. Nura is one of the few Legionnaires he is comfortable actually calling a friend, but he is still ill-equipped to deal with situations such as these. 

“Nura -“

She doesn’t let him finish, let him suggest that maybe she should speak to Saturn Girl or anyone but him about this instead. 

“I know you’re going to ask why I’m coming to you. And it’s because you’re the only one of us that’s survived… something like this.”

He freezes. 

“That’s not true. Projectra -“

“Jeckie has never dealt with Val’s death, and you know it. But you… You kept going when Kara died.”

Hearing her name stings, even nearly ten years after the fact. Querl’s mouth twitches, but he doesn’t say anything, doesn’t mention the hole in his heart that Kara left when she died, the dull ache that’s always behind his ribs that’s existed for years but has become more manageable as the years go on.

“So I need you to tell me, how do I keep living without Thom? How do you go on when you see the person you lost everywhere? When -“ She swallows and her voice goes quiet. “When does it stop hurting?”

He had asked that question himself, curled on his lab floor while Saturn Girl sat next to him, a look of pity and pain on her face. 

The kind thing to do would be to lie to her, but Querl’s never been known for kind things.

After New Years Eve - ZeroX

Axl having a hangover after New year's Eve decides to go check up on X And Zero in the morning.

He finds them sharing the same bed, still have their cords in as they are connected to each other. Not to mention seeing them passed out sleeping.

He takes a pic to show them this as he wants to see the look on their faces when they find out about him finding out their secret.

Being a good friend, he helped them out by locking the door behind him so nobody else can see their intimate situation.

What is it with these people generalizing people who ship ZeroX as just a bunch of “gross fujoshis”? I mean, I personally am not a fan of ZeroX myself, but you don’t see me attacking/harassing those who do like it. People should be allowed to ship what they want. And I have absolutely no issue with people who make fanart/fanfiction of ZeroX, if they want to make that kind of stuff, that’s completely fine. ZeroX just isn’t my cup of tea, that’s all.

Just because some certain people do weird/inappropriate stuff with a ship doesn’t make an entire ship bad. If you say that about a ship, you’re just making assumptions.

Seeing these people generalize ZeroX shippers as just a bunch of fujoshis disgusts me. As I mentioned previously, I’m completely indifferent to ZeroX, but that does not mean I wish death upon these who enjoy the ship. That would make me no better than the antis.
