To Himmel, the Human (A Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Monologue)
Tumblr media
To be Christlike is to reflect the characteristics of God. As Christians seek to emulate Him, it’s all too easy, though, to forget about God’s creativity, about his power to inspire us to make art—to create something original. On Beneath the Tangles, however, this is at the very heart of what we do; we look at anime, an art form that inspires us, and use that inspiration to create writing, illustrations, videos, and other creative pieces. Whether we speak directly of Christ or not in these works, being inspired, enjoying beauty, and then creating are godly activities themselves.
One of the most inspiring anime of recent years (and I would say ever) is the fantasy series, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. I’ve explained in my reviews of the series that its major theme is that friendship can transform our hearts (a Christian theme if there ever was one!), most specifically shown in how Himmel the Hero’s kind nature changes the cold Frieren into a warm and loving woman.
Today, our artist, Zion, inspired by Frieren, presents a piece she drew, a monologue she wrote, and her reading of that monologue. We hope it in turn inspires you to continue the godly work of enjoying creation and perhaps to do some work of your own

I just have to say, Israel is really picking the most peculiar people to be the face of their propaganda,,,, like Amy Schumer? The lady that I've never seen or heard anyone say that they like her comedy, and that had sex with a guy she knew was drunk in college (which makes her a rapist), which she told in an interview herself? And Tiffany Haddish? Who groomed a 7 year old and a 14 year old? ,,, Y'all are really picking THEM?

Compile Heart announces seven new titles – Madou Monogatari 4, Touhou Spell Carnival, and more
Gematsu Source
Tumblr media
Compile Heart has announced its transition to a new management structure as of October 1, with Naoto Tominaga serving as president and Hikaru Yasui as director, as well as announced seven new titles currently in development.
Tominaga is a former Compile member, and also worked at Capcom, TAITO, Eidos, Ubisoft, and Electronic Arts, where he led game production and development, marketing, new business development, department management, and more, both in Japan and overseas. He has worked at Compile Heart parent company Idea Factory since 2020, where he has handled a wide range of duties.
Hikaru Yasui previously worked on a number of RPGs and simulation games as a producer at Sting, including games like Blaze Union: Story to Reach the Future and Hexyz Force. After leaving Sting, he worked in the social games industry before joining Idea Factory in 2020. He recently was the producer and director for both Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters and Neptunia Game Maker R:Evolution.
With a new management structure in place, Compile Heart aims to maintain its same stance of chasing the niche market, while also expanding its scope to include not only Japan but overseas markets, as well as multiplatform development. It will also create games in more genres than ever before.
The five new titles announced are as follows:
Todokero! Tatakae! Calamity Angels
Todokero! Tatakae! Calamity Angels is a delivery-themed RPG for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC. It will launch for consoles in Japan in summer 2024, followed by PC via Steam a little later. The slapstick-style game will feature voluptuous, cute, and comical characters designed by Kei Nanameda, and story and gameplay that revolves around various personality types like moe and airheads. Compile Heart also conducted interviews with the Japan Post during development.

Touhou Spell Carnival
The game features character illustrations from Touhou Project reborn with a Compile Heart-like aura by Katsuyuki Hirano. The story revolves around a 30-day Spell Card Battle in which many character participate, with battle and story parts alternating. The game itself will combine the bullet hell shoot ’em ups with tactical battles. This includes incorporating familiar elements from shoot ’em up games, such as high-powered bombs. Combat itself is real-time.

Untitled Shoot'em Up Game
A genuine shoot ’em up game developed in cooperation with M2. It will launch for unannounced platforms in late summer 2024 in Japan. Character designs for the pilot and company have a Compile Heart-like aura. This will be a brand-new title with some never before seen challenge elements.

Madou Monogatari 4
Madou Monogatari 4 is the first new numbered title in the puzzle game series Mado Monogatari after several decades, developed by Sting in cooperation with intellectual property holder D4 Enterprise. It will launch for unannounced platforms in summer 2024 in Japan. Many former Compile staff are involved in the game’s development, including Sting’s president. SEGA is also cooperating, allowing the use of familiar characters such as those from the Puyo Puyo series.

Death end re;Quest Code: Zion
Death end re;Quest Code: Zion is a spin-off entry in the Death end re;Quest series due out for unannounced platforms in summer 2024 in Japan. The story is connected to Death end re;Quest and Death end re;Quest 2, and will feature new elements Compile Heart are able to challenge due to the fact that it is a spin-off.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unannounced Numbered Death end re;Quest Title
A new, numbered entry in the Death end re;Quest series is currently in planning alongside Death end re;Quest Code: Zion. However, since a numbered entry requires more time, the spin-off will release first.
Unannounced Numbered Neptunia Title
A new, numbered entry in the Neptunia series is currently in development for unannounced platforms. As Compile Heart’s flagship series, it is taking its time on development. For about two years, key staff such as producer Naoko Mizuno and illustrator Tsunako have been shaping the game’s content, and a direction has finally been determined.

The duke who can pick the stars and the moon for MC
Serpens: If it's for you, I can destroy the world. Zion: I understand. Please don't. Serpens: I can offer you the throne. Zion: Yes, don't do that either. Serpens: I can make all the people believe only in the religion that serves you. Zion: Yeah, that's also not okay.

Azula, Ty Lee and Mai are playing in the courtyard. They don't see the Yu Yan archers on top of the palace, but Azula knows they're there. Uncle enlisted them the day Zion was announced as his heir.
The girls see Fire Lord Azulon and Iroh make their way through the courtyard, they gently nudge a few turtleducks off of the walking path as they return from an outing in the Capitol.
Ty Lee looks at Azula. "Why does your uncle have a sling? Is something wrong with his arm?"
Mai sighs. "His arm isn't even in it."
"Oh," Ty Lee blinks. Azula tries to shrug the subject away.
"It's just Uncle's new baby; anyway I think next we should-"
"THE BABY!! IT'S ZION!!" Ty Lee exclaims. Azula groans, having hoped this wouldn't happen. Ty Lee, however, had hoped to catch a glimpse of the new future Fire Lord - after all, it was exciting to hear that, after generations, they would grow to serve a lady instead of a lord. "Do you think he'd let me see her?"
"Oh please," Azula said. "He'd tell you everything she did today if you let him. And all she does is sleep and whine and burp."
Ty Lee makes a break for the older men, and Mai pats Azula's back in condolences. They watch Ty Lee bow, and Iroh kneels down to let the girl get a glimpse of the crown princess, at which Ty Lee dances in place in excitement.
"Agni, she's so embarrassing," Mai drones.
They watch, exasperated, as Iroh puts the infant into Ty Lee's arms; then...
Then Iroh and Ty Lee nod to each other, and Ty Lee returns to the group, gleefully holding Zion.
"WHAT IS SHE DOING." Azula seethes through gritted teeth.
"Thank you for watching her, Azula! I truly appreciate you!" Iroh calls out to his niece.
Ty Lee rejoins the group and plops back onto the grass, happily talking to the baby before addressing her friends. "He's letting me watch her!"
Azula flopped over onto the ground. Mai looked at the baby as she peered her way as well.
"Red eyes. Cool," Mai said. Azula sat back up; she glared at Zion.
"We have a lot of games left to play so don't make too much noise."
"Azula! Be nice!" Ty Lee admonishes. "Babies are very receptive."
Azula shrugs. "She's my cousin, I'm allowed to talk to her like that. Right, dum-dum?"
Zion blinks; and then she smiles and squeals.
"Aww!" Ty Lee gushed. "She thinks you're funny!"
"I am NOT funny," Azula told Zion as she happily reached for her cousin. "I'm VERY scary!" She then insists, leaping to her feet to tower over Zion with a growling snarl.
But Zion could only respond with a hearty laugh and a gurgling response as she tried to mimic Azula's ferocity.
"Ugh! You're supposed to be scared!" Azula scolded.
Ty Lee shrugged. "It's like I told you, babies are very receptive. If she sensed that you were actually malicious, she would have responded as such."
"Oh really?" Mai asked skeptically.
Ty Lee nodded. "Babies have instincts we'll never know because we forget them! I heard there's still being discoveries made!" She then leaned in to whisper. "Did you know they can smell fear?"
The trio looked to Zion as she contentedly, and very enthusiastically, burbled some spit bubbles.
"... okay." Azula sighed.
Mai's nose wrinkled. "Babies are so gross. I'm never having any."
Azula grinned. "Oh well then I guess you'll never get to marry Zuko~"
"Shut up, Azula!"
"Because when you marry into the royal family you have to have at least one baby to continue the family! So it sounds like you won't get to smooch my dumb brother!"
"Knock it off!" Mai blushed as Azula teased her with kissing noises.
"I wouldn't mind having at least one," Ty Lee said. Azula looked at her in confusion.
"From the way you were going on, I would think you'd want a big family."
Ty Lee's smile softened. "No... I think one or two is enough. I think I could give enough attention to two at least."
Azula could feel the subject turning her way.
"Maybe when Zion becomes Fire Lord she won't make you have kids to marry Zuzu, Mai."
Azula reached forward to squeeze Zion's cheeks, making it appear like she was speaking.
"I decree no one has to have kids to marry my big dummy cousin!"
Mai giggled.
"Why, Fire Lord Zion, you have my everlasting thanks," she said bowing to the infant, who gurgled happily in return. "Because I have to say, I'm not impressed with this whole squealing, drooling thing. You’re kind of gross."
Azula returned to narrating for Zion, squeezing her cheeks: "WHAT?? TO THE PYRE WITH YOU!"
Mai dramatically stood up to run, and Ty Lee and Azula chased her, carefully holding Zion as though she was leading the charge as the lot of them laughed harder than Azula had thought they would.
