hehehe Flag and IFL football. Sorry if it's rough around the edges, I just wanted to get it out there bc I miss playing flag football and going to a IFL game inspired me :p

Ava and Yelena are both playing flag football so I get a little bit more freedom as there's not really a major league akin to that of the IFL. Ava's team is the Ghosts for obvious reasons and I modeled it after her og suit. A lot of people, younger and older, wear long sleeves/tights, so translating Ava's body suit for her chronic pain is pretty easy. Yelena gets Thunderbolts bc she literally played for a team called that. The blue and pink were just colors I thought would stand out as an actual thunderbolt as part of the design for her team. I also translated her eye makeup to the smearing of the eye black (I hc that Natasha would do a spider one). With Yelena's hair, I think she would slick it back to hold it in place and then wear a halo as a headband/protection.

Alexei played professionally too. However, he played hockey for Russia. He kind of understands football so he doesn't understand flag a lot but he loves to cheer Yelena on. Bc of his track suit in the end credits scene, i feel like he would get all of the personalized merch he could to both embarrass Yelena and support her.

John currently plays for the Quad City Steamwheelers. Unfortunately, there's no current Georgia or New York team so he couldn't play there. So I stuck him where Lemar's from, Illinois. I gave him the national anthem pose bc i think it fits. I also think that John and Lemar played together on said team. However, Lemar still dies in this universe. It's one of those tragic car accidents. So, the following game there's a little spiel and a video showcasing Lemar's life. The following year, the Steamwheelers showcase Lemar's mom on the big camera shortly after the anniversary of his death. The two seats beside her are typically occupied by Lemar's sister/dad but they weren't there. I also put Lemar's mom in a 2024 jersey bc Lemar dies in 2024 (mcu timeline is weird and I don't understand it but I think that's when he dies).

I really wanted to draw both Joaquin and Bob in the sharks outfits, however it doesn't really make sense for them. I don't think Bob would actually play because of medical reasons. Like, he played when he was younger but didn't continue. So, water boy for the sharks, hence the merch rather than a jersey. Joaquin would play for the sharks bc of his background, but I think it would be funny to tie in his original lore of bring from Arizona to make it so that he's played for the Rattlers in 2024 when they won then got traded to his state team.

Sorry for inaccuracies when it comes to the stadiums. I loosely based it off of the game I went to recently. Also, I really had fun designing Ava & Yelena's because I know how teams design them. The older you go, the less fun of a design it typically is. But the colors are pretty much everything when it comes to uniforms. In club flag football (less in college) you get these cool color combinations/designs, plus you get to choose your name. College wise it isn't that great but it's still pretty badass looking in pictures.

If you're willing to yap: how do you think Ford's relationship is with the town? How different is it from canon? How does Ford see Stan and how does Stan see Ford? If Ford doesn't know about the killings he's done, how does that play out (like, is it a state of mine where he forgets, or...?)?

first of all, I can't take full credit for the au- it's actually something I've come up with with my best friend, and we imagine all the scenarios and stuff (I don't know if I should tag them tho, I'd have to ask if they're okay with it lol)

Ford's relationship with the town is different- when Stan has to go out to get actual food, instead of thinking he's the "mysterious science guy from the woods" he's met with stares and whispers of "the crazy guy from the woods."

Ford sees everything almost just like canon, for example he doesn't think Fiddleford died, he thinks he got pulled into the portal (which, without any alien spacecraft is just a bunch of scrap metal). And he thought that one person he killed was a shapeshifter who turned on him, and he had to put him into cryostasis (he cut them up and put them in the freezer). That's kind of how Ford doesn't really realize it.

As for how he sees Stan, he at first tries to convince him to take his journal and leave, but Stan is like "I'm not leaving you here you're gonna get yourself killed" and Ford gets angry and maybe they fight but there's no portal for Ford to get pushed into.

Meanwhile Stan is. SUPER concerned. He feels guilty for never calling, for never visiting or checking up on his brother, for assuming he had it good. He stays there and does his best to take care of Ford. He goes out to buy actual food, tries to make him take a shower (he hadn't showered in forever and he's covered in blood and dirt, his wounds are probably going to get infected), and tries to calm him down when he's having one of his moments.

Anyway the au ends when both of them die.... or does it? because then the mystery twins go to gravity falls as adults to try to solve the mysterious case of this silly goofy anomaly town dark unsolved crime town.

that familiarity between them and lack of fear around not holding back is something i like about their relationship - they both obviously know a lot about each other, and they also both know each other well enough to know that neither of them are scared to use all that knowledge when an opportunity presents itself. not only do we know they spend a lot of time together 1:1, which means mingi almost certainly has plenty of hongjoong-related anecdotes tucked away (and vice versa), but hongjoong 100% knows that mingi's not going to keep quiet when he gets the chance to tell those anecdotes. it doesn't surprise me that of all the people to save his silence card for, hongjoong saved it for mingi 😭

I have a lot to say about this new chapter, but.

A lot of panels were amazingly pretty (like often, you gonna tell me) but yeah the Mitsukou panels we had, a lot of scenes between the both of them, were sublime in both the way they were drawn but also in the way of what it was telling, about their characters and "relationship". Idk it makes sense??

Anyway, good chapter! Good job Mitsukou even tho I think we should be scared of what is going to happen!

also, (sorry to soapbox, i promise this will be the last of it), as an added note to the little conversation from yesterday about dreblr--i have to say that there's been ,,, uh, a slightly concerning amount of "us versus them" rhetoric especially about c!tommy apologists recently, as far as i've observed. and look, i get how the fandom's history plays into this, but dreblr isn't some separate special "better" version of the dsmp fandom. we're just dsmp fans who tend positive towards c!dream, which is a valid way of enjoying the story, but you know, so's hating c!dream's guts, lmao. people aren't unable to have valid opinions on the story or on c!dream just because they're negative about him and positive about c!tommy, which is like, literally just normal too, lmao, c!tommy is the generally good-aligned character we follow for most of the story and c!dream is the generally evil-aligned character that hurts him? being an analyst in dreblr doesn't automatically equal being "more correct" just because it's dreblr, and dismissing others' opinions just because they're a c!tommy apologist or whoever apologist isn't exactly a helpful way of approaching meta, either.

obviously no one is obligated to interact with anyone in this fandom that they don't want to interact with--we're here to have fun, it's not actually a professional field of analysis and debate. that being said, there is nothing about liking c!dream that is inherently superior to other dsmp fans. i know i've made a lot of general posts about dreblr versus "the greater fandom" which probably haven't helped with this feeling -- they're largely generalizations based on my experience in this fandom, and i don't want to come off as meaning that bad analysis is something that is Only found outside of dreblr (i've definitely been guilty of shit analysis more than a few times, lol) or that there's nothing that the rest of the fandom outside of c!dream apologist spaces has to offer. when it comes to individual enjoyment of the fandom and the characters, the point im making isn't that everyone has to do outreach to communicate with a c!tommy apologist or anything, lmao -- just that, you know, the general shady comments about how much better we are at analysis than those darn c!tommy apologists when they're not really relevant don't reeeeeally have to be as common as they are.
