Easy Money Easy Money…I am usually pretty skeptical when it comes to ways to make easy money. I have heard friends say that they got a check for $50 for simply buying stuff online. My first thought was… yea right. What’s the catch? Another friend made $125. After interrogating them for a while about their get rich quick scheme, they dangled the carrot in front of me a little more. All they were…

The Fear of Public Speaking
The Fear of Public Speaking #working #work #job #business #life #office #like #ilovemyjob #company #follow #myjob #motivation #grind #dayjob #workinprogress #construction #dailygrind #worklife #jobs #workhard #success #workinghard #training
The Fear of Public Speaking: A large part of my job is public speaking; 60-90 mins presentations usually one to three times a month. Sometimes it could be in front of 10 people, or as many as 60 or more. I accepted the job so I could meet people in the industry and do trade shows. The job has changed over time and presentations are a critical part my job and department. However, I am pretty very…

More Baseball Card Grading
Tumblr media
Baseball Card Grading Submission with SGC: I am in a couple of Facebook groups for baseball card collectors. A member of one of these groups offered bulk submission for SGC. I have participated in a couple of submissions already and I have been extremely happy. I am still amazed by how the card industry has changed since my Dad got me started over 35 years ago. There are several professional graders, PSA, BGS, and SGC. I have submitted to all three of them and hands down, I believe SGC is the best. My third SGC grading submission went very well!  Baseball Card Grading Submission with SGC Each of my SGC submissions has focused on different players. I am submitting popular rookies from 2018-2020 graded. I look at this as an investment in the future of baseball. My first submission was my Ronald Acuna, Ohtani, and Juan Soto Rookies. My Second submission was my Anthony Rizzo (I'm a Cubs fan, I know he is not a rookie), Peter Alonso, Fernando Tatis Jr rookie collection, while my third submission includes Gleyber Torres, Vladimir Guerreo Jr, and Eloy Jimenez rookie collection. When I got my Vlad Jrs back, I was happy to see I got a 10 and 9.5 grades on the very popular Topps No Number variation/error card! Baseball Card Grading Submission with SGC offers online submission form, and fast turnaround times. The turnaround time with my bulk submission group is 20 business days. Twenty DAYS! SGC is so much faster than their competitors.  Read the full article

My Top 3 Ballparks in MLB
Tumblr media
It's April, and we should be wrapping up the first week of the 2020 baseball season. Thanks a lot, COVID-19! I, like many other sports junkies, are really missing baseball. So I thought I would think back to the ballparks I have been to and pick my top 3 ballparks in the MLB. Let me start by saying, I’m not a big traveler. When I travel, I try and squeeze in a ball game. There are people out there that have definitely been to more ballparks than me. I will also like to note that my favorite ballparks are tied to some of my favorite memories.  My Top 3 Ballparks #3. PNC Park - Pittsburgh Pirates My Top 3 Ballparks #3. PNC Park - Pittsburgh Pirates It was pure luck that I got to go see the Pirates play. I was in town for business, a friend of a coworker had an extra ticket and it was offered to me… Who were the Pirates playing? It was a make-up game with the New York Yankees! I was really impressed with this ballpark. While taking it all in, I had a lot of memories come back to me. When I was 8 or 9 years old my family went to a Cubs Pirates game at the old Three Rivers. What was unique about this game back in 1988, as we were living outside of Chicago at the time, and we were visiting family outside of Pittsburgh, in Wheeling WV.  PNC Park is NO Three Rivers… and that's a good thing. I loved this park. PNC is a really small ballpark. I had really good seats, and surprisingly there was hardly anyone there. Even to see the Yankees. I moved around every few innings. How To Ship Ball Cards - When Selling on Ebay
Tumblr media
How to Ship Ball Cards: I have been buying and selling baseball cards pretty heavily over the past couple of years. When I was a kid, I was was a big collector well into my high school days, but after almost 25 years, I found an interest in it again. This post is about the proper way of how to ship ball cards via the postal service.  There are two main methods on how to ship ball cards, 1) in a bubble mailer and 2) in an envelope. In this post, I will detail how I ship in both scenarios.  Bubble Mailer method: What Do You Need? A Scale - to weigh your shipment which will help determine the cost when you print your shipping label. I bought this one at Amazon. Scotch or 3M clear packaging tape - to tape your printed shipping label. I use Paypal -  Paypal is probably the most widely used peer to peer online payment companies. I also create my shipping labels through PayPal, at paypal.com/shipnow. Bubble Mailers - I recommend 4”x8” bubble mailers from Amazon.  Blue Painters tape - Yes! DO NOT USE SCOTCH TAPE! I buy them at Amazon as well. The painter's tape is easy to peel off of the toploader. Scotch Tape is a pain in the butt! Two Pieces of Cardboard -  Cut them into 3”x4” pieces. Toploaders and Sleeves - for protecting the card, pretty simple actually. Put the Card in the sleeve and then put the sleeve in the toploader. You can buy these at your local card shop, eBay, or Amazon.  Bubble Read the full article

Are Leaders Born or Made?
Tumblr media
More on Leadership. 6 Qualities of a Great Leader Are you born a leader, or are you made into a leader? I believe it is a little bit of both. In my time working in sales and business management, I have seen my share of strong leaders. I have also seen those that were in a leadership position when they were more of a follower than a leader. Are Leaders Born or Made? Leaders are Born with the “it” factor. Are Leaders Born or Made Strong leaders have the “it” factor. They get “it”. They know what it takes to win, and they know how to lead their staff through the peaks and valleys of the economic climate.  Leaders also have the energy and wherewithal, to make tough decisions that are the right ones for the business. What is the “it” factor? What does the “it” factor include? While the list can be rather lengthy, below is a small sample of what the "it" factor includes: Initiative – Taking action: not sitting back and watching things happen.Listening Skills –Taking the time to hear the comments and concerns of employees. They need to feel welcome and valued. Motivation Skills – Motivating employees will lead to better morale and productivity.Managing Conflict – Leaders often need strong conflict resolution skills in order to handle disagreements. Leaders need to have the ability to resolve conflicts in a fair and decisive way.  Leaders are Made. Read the full article

Our So-Called Quarantined Life
Tumblr media
Our So-Called Quarantined Life. Its been about a good month since I was at work. COVID-19 has really turned our lives upside down. What if I told you I was happy to be home? Please, don't take this the wrong way, I am not happy about people dying and those that are sick. However, I am happy to be home. We have the savings, so we are blessed in that regard and that has helped with the stress. My wife is off right now as well. I honestly can’t tell you when the last time we have spent this much time together for so many days in a row. This is our So-Called Quarantined Life... Our So-Called Life: Pre-COVID My wife is a contract manager and I am an outside salesman. I usually work early mornings so I can pick up the kids and deal with the afternoon extracurricular activities. My wife handles the morning routines. The kids are at school until 3:30 then off to dance practice. We are of course together on the weekends, but kids have playdates, activities and let’s not forget all the errands that need to be done on the weekends; Church, groceries, the typical Target trip, etc... Our So-Called Quarantine Life: With-COVID EVERYONE is at home. All-Day-Long. We are not used to this. No more going to dance practice. It’s now on Zoom… yes, you read that right. Our church service is on Facebook Live, and school is online and groceries are now delivered. (btw, how awesome is grocery deliveries??)  In order to keep my sanity, I'm making sure I do a project every day; using the word "project" very loosely. I want to do something every day. It could be anything from cutting grass, putting up shelves, working in the yard, painting, etc... I have to keep my mind busy or I will get on my wife's last nerve.

My So-Called Quarantine Life: With-COVID
Tumblr media
My So-Called Quarantine Life: With-COVIDMy So-Called Quarantine Life: With-COVID Our So-Called Quarantine Life: I have noticed.... Below is a list of things I have noticed while everyone is home during the quarantine. We eat a lot. Since we are home for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, our grocery bill has skyrocketed. Trash and Recycling have increased exponentially. Our trash days are on Fridays. By the time the middle of the week hits… I’m making a trip to the dump because our trash and recycling bins can’t hold it all. I have really good kids. The schools are doing online learning. My kids get up, know what they have to do, get it done, and know they can’t do anything else until schoolwork gets done. They are so on point with their school days, that (I won’t lie) I’ve been able to sleep in.I am addicted to my local ACE Hardware store. It’s about a mile from my house, and I’ve been going very frequently. We are not to the point of being called NORM when I walk in, (Ref: Cheers; am I showing my age?) but we are getting close. With my mask and gloves, I go on Mondays and get the supplies I will need for any “project(s)” I am going to work on for the week. My house needs some TLC. It's close to 30 years old, and its starting to show. During this quarantine, I have worked in the yard, and what an improvement! Put up some awesome shelving units in all the closets. We demo’ed some drywall thanks to a leaking window, that’s a story for another time.I have a deeper appreciation for those on the front lines in Nursing Homes, Hospitals, Teachers, and first responders.  How have you spent your time in the Quarantine? Are you truly quarantined? Have you been going out? What projects have you done during COVID-19? Read the full article

How Can I Get My Lawn Green Again?
How Can I Get My Lawn Green Again? This past February, I decided that I needed to give my lawn some much needed TLC. I thought to myself how can I get my lawn green again?. However, I knew it was only February and I knew it was too soon to start (In my nonexpert opinion). I knew it was in rough shape. So, I waited until March to really start to focus on the yard. I told myself that March was…
