Hey all!
My latest map, Inside The Worm, is a 40x25sq grisly delve into the guts of a dead purple worm, entering through the creatures mouth, adventurers will be able to journey deep inside the creature seeking out... who knows what!?. It's bottom half has disappeared down into the abyss below, the creature torn in half and something has tried to eat its insides, no doubt these carrion creatures are still in the worms guts somewhere! Variants include a classic Purple Worm and an arctic Ice Worm.
This map and variants are available in full through my Patreon, Fan Club members will get an unlabelled 70px gridded version of this version for free when they sign up to my newsletter through my website. I release four free maps every month and an additional 4 free maps to Fan Club members who can sign up for free to my newsletter through my website. When the newsletter goes out it contains exclusive download links as well as information updates and exclusive deals and offers on my shop content.
As with all my maps they are placed into Foundry to create full pre-built scenes with detailed walls, dynamic lighting and ambient scene sounds and specific sound FX. For my higher tier patrons I include additional maps, blanks, animated maps and asset packs. Each month I release dozens of maps and variants and convert them all into Foundry, with Patrons getting exclusive access to that pack for the month, after that the Foundry pack is removed from my Patreon and made available through my web store (maps are always available as back catalogue, just not the dynamic Foundry content).
Hope ya’ll enjoy!Alex | The MAD Cartographer

A spiralling path leading up to a frozen, snowy plateau, the howling winds that sting at your face have been a constant bane on this journey, but now they are also a blessing as ahead you see a gust swirl the powdery snow from a partially exposed stone altar buried in the snow. The wind blows harder and the snow shifts, breaking through the snow a glow emanates from the ancient stone work. After all this time, after months of searching… you found it.
Hey all!
Another frosty / Rime of the Frostmaiden map today, a buried stone altar atop a spiraling mountain path. What is it? Who placed it? What happens if you poke it with a stick? I dunno I just make the maps, you tell me!You can get this 22x16 encounter map 140ppi VTT gridded from my

Hey all!
Just a little map I knocked up as part of my recent Curse of Strahd meets Rime of the Frostmaiden theme, a little fishing hole out on the dark ice of Icewind Dale trying to catch knucklehead trout!I figure a little encounter where the fishing hole is seemingly abandoned, shadows out on the ice in the cold mists loom... something dark this way comes! You can download this free version and more over at my

Hey all!
Continuing this month’s Rime of the Frostmaiden and Curse of Strahd themed maps, today’s 48x22” map is a reimagining of one of the RotF quests “Foaming Mugs” where players are tasked with recovering an abandoned sled of ingots from a bunch of goblins on a Goblin Wagon crossing the tundra of Icewind Dale! The patron exclusive variant was the Gates of Barovia from CoS!
Get the free 140ppi Grid version of the map from my Patreon:

This map was created in collaboration with Adventure Music who composed an awesome track for our patrons to go along with the map, but you can check out a sample of it from my Patreon post and if you like their stuff then go check them out!

Hey all!
For the next two months I’m making a whole host of supporting maps for Curse of Strahd and Rime of the Frostmaiden, for the first release from the theme I tackled The Gulthias Tree from Curse of Strahd! I’m very conscious about mentioning anything about the modules due to the spoiler’ish nature, but you can check out more details about this monstrous tree on my Patreon post where you can also download this version of the map and more.
This map was made alongside a great composer, Adventure Music, who made a fantastic track to accompany this ominous scene! You can download the track for free along with the map!
Follow my Patreon and you’ll be notified when new maps from these two side-by-side themes are released, or subscribe to get access to multiple variations, asset tokens and monthly themed Map Packs for Foundry VTT!
You can download the map from: https://www.patreon.com/themadcartographer

Hey all! The beginning of November marked 6 months since I decided to take the plunge and launch my Patreon making fantasy battlemaps, thanks to the amazing support I get from my patrons I’ve been able to do something I absolutely love and make a living out of it. In the last 6 months I’ve released a bunch of free maps, many you may have seen on here, many which may have slipped through the net, but I’ve put together every free map that I’ve ever released and made them available in a single download. Each map is available in 140ppi resolution, perfect for VTT use, and they’re available in squared, hex and even gridless versions. You can download your preferred grid type from my Patreon Post . I hope you all enjoy them! Thanks again to everyone who has supported me so far and I hope you enjoy my maps! Much love Alex (The MAD Cartographer)
