Deathany Arbinger (or just Death)

had my friend Dan’s Halloween High naming convention in mind when thinking to call her “Deathany” 🖤

I recently picked up the pop star hair in dark blue to meet a minimum bl buy. didn’t have a specific use in mind, it’s just a piece I’ve wanted to get. frugality has characterized my lego spending this year (I won’t buy pieces unless I need them), so the minimum buy afforded me the perfect excuse to finally pick one up.

I placed the order while on a trip, excited that it would arrive home when I did. in anticipation of its arrival, I excitedly thought up ways to use the hair piece. gorgon, mermaid, or vampire were my top candidates. but when I actually got to building, what emerged was a gothy, grungy death girl — which, in my heart of hearts, I probably wanted to build all along

I really love her simplicity, and it’s always a plus when I can sneak in some platforms

earlier this year, I posted a battle princess minifig on ig. her skirt + metallic short legs combo was something that I wanted to experiment with more, and this dwarf lord is the result!

there’s something Seussian about him — beyond his Lorax-like facial hair and stature (though Lhor Axe is a fun name); I think it might be his onesie-ish looking outfit

I love how colorful he is and while it was not intended, I like to think that the prevalence of medium blue is a nod to Jayko from Knights’ Kingdom.

what I will say though is that Pirate101 made an indelible mark on me and even though there are no notable similarities beyond “little dude with a polearm,” Gaspard de Vole was on my mind when I built this guy

Eileen - Alien Secretary

while playing around with lime minifig pieces, I discovered that Rench’s molded head fits pretty perfectly inside the face of the series 8 Alien Villainess. after stumbling upon this combo, I immediately knew what I had to do: build a Roz-inspired alien secretary! the face on the backwards head isn’t meant to be an acknowledged feature (from the photo of this perspective, it does not even exist), but I suppose that the presence of literal/physical eyes on the back of her head technically means that she is indeed “always watching”

Guardian Angel

Pharah’s helmet is such a cool piece and I’ve wanted to use it on a minifig for a while now! it came into proximity with the Stuntz torso while I was shuffling pieces around and the rest of the combos came together from there

I built this fig as a companion piece for Queen Bee. Though originally conceived as just a baddie with a bounty, I think that interpretation is a bit limited. Villain or anti-hero, it’s up to you to decide!

Design inspirations include the spiky/spiny leaf beetle and a fear of removing the Silver Centurion’s arms from the dark red Beetle torso (which have been connected since 2022, at least).

Phantom of the Aqua

This minifig came together by happenstance and, after a few revisions, has become one of my favorite minifigures to date!

One of the ways I like putting together minifigs is by starting with an interesting torso and letting it inform the rest of the parts usage. That approach is very evident here and it’s one of the best showcases of it.

I’m so satisfied with how many LEGO greens are represented in this minifigure; the nod to the Phantasm with the mask and hook placement; and that I was able to build an octopirate! The Hidden Side tentacles gave her a much more interesting silhouette and the addition of Raya’s sword is just chef’s kiss!

Queen Bee

She was originally just going to be a drone droid built to get more mileage out of the torso and leg combo I used for D’Vorah. But after I decided to lean into the Samus inspiration and thought to give her the Ice Queen’s trans-light blue tiara, she was promoted to bee-themed bounty hunter. She’s currently one of my favorite figs!
