If I see one more god damn post about Narcissa hating Lucius for Draco getting marked, or that Lucius forced him to take the dark mark- I’m going to have the biggest crash out of the century.

LUCIUS WASN’T EVEN THERE WHEN HE TOOK THE MARK. HE WAS LITERALLY IN AZKABAN.

Draco wanted revenge for his father, and Voldemort wanted to punish the family for Lucius’s failings.

Narcissa NEVER blamed Lucius for this- which she STATED. She snapped at Bellatrix when she even tried to shift the blame onto Lucius.

I’m tired of you all making up shit or trying to make Lucius look like this domestic abuser. I’m begging you, please just open up the books. Read a PAGE.

This may piss some people off but, I’m saying it anyways…Narcissa wasn’t this hero feminist queen that fought for the good side that ya’ll paint her out to be.

I mean she was a strong, intelligent bad ass- do NOT get me wrong…but ya’ll are telling me you genuinely think THE Narcissa Malfoy, the one who scrunched her nose up in DISGUST at mere thought of muggles….would’ve secretly joined the order? 😟

I’m here to rant about more of the mischaracterization of the Malfoy family in this fandom, because I’ve genuinely lost sleep over it.

Before I get into this, let me be clear, I am NOT defending Lucius’s actions. He was a bad guy. But I think there is way more to him than a lot of people like to talk about.

Lucius was raised in the shadow of his father’s expectations- and he took on those same beliefs that Abraxas raised him on. Lucius was always destined to be trapped in his father’s decisions of being entangled with Voldemort and the Death Eaters. Both the Malfoy and the Black families made that choice.

Lucius did most of what he did to keep his family alive. He had to be Voldemort’s right hand man while also protecting his family.

The “Lucius was physically abusive” take is actually genuinely crazy to me because….where did that come from??? Lucius LOVED that little boy. He and Narcissa spoiled that child rotten.

He wasn’t the perfect father by any means- but our ideals and our values all start from the environment we’re raised in, and I truly believe Lucius did the best he could.

It was clear Draco adored, and looked up to his father as a role model. He just doesn’t strike me as someone who would feel unsafe around his dad? He was also a complete daddy’s boy, especially in the books.

Let’s also remember that man ran WANDLESS through the battle of Hogwarts to save his son. He took the hits for his family so many times, and I’m tired of it being overlooked.

Was he a good person? Absolutely not. But did he love his family? Yes. And it CAN be both.

Lucius also didn’t “force” Draco to become a death eater. He literally couldn’t because he was in AZKABAN PRISON 😭.

Draco did all those things out of REVENGE for his father. Narcissa said it herself.

The movies overlooked the most important part of the Malfoy’s. Despite their disparity and the darkness- they still found light, family, and love in each other. That is what set them apart from the rest of the Voldemort’s followers.
