To give a brief overview of what we are looking for -

We are looking for writers who are able to write a one-shot with a Word Min / Max of 1.5k to 3.5k in a three month time span. Any questions for writing, feel free to send our way; either through an ask, a dm, or on the application!

We are looking for Artists who are willing and or able to create a piece fitting an A5 paper (image attached for reference below), and needs to be CMYK and 300 DPI minimum.

2 page comics are allowed, though we will not be accepting many, one page comics are completely okay and we don't have a limit, as all artists are having one page.

We are also looking for any artists who would like to create art for physical and / or digital Merch! Details on *that* will be discussed with anyone who applies and is accepted, as there is an array of options that are available

Timeline

Mod Applications --- Thurs, April 10th to Fri, April 25th

Contributor Applications --- Sat, April 26th to Thurs, May 15th

Creation Period --- Teus, May 20th to Thurs, July 31st

First Check In -- 17th of June Second Check In -- 13th of July Third Check In -- 26th of July

Formatting Period --- Fri, August 1st to Sun, August 31st

Pre-Orders --- Mon, September 1st to Teus, September 30th

Manufacturing and Shipping --- Wed, October 1st to Sun, November 30th

December will still be available for if anything happens to go wrong, everything should be out to everyone by December 20th (estimation) and when everyone has their orders, all money / proceedings will go to the chosen charity!

FAQs

What is a 'zine?

A zine or fanzine is a collection of works created by the fandom and put together in a collaborative work; sometimes for free to download or for preorders for charity. A few zine's I've personally seen also had money just paying the contributors, though I've only seen that one the once. The 'zine' part of fanzine is derived from Magazine; which is a printed or digital publication containing articles, stories, and / or illustrations. and the 'fan' part of fanzine is taken from 'fandom', which we all know that one; it's my favorite part of any media!

What is This 'zine About?

This 'zine is about celebrating our favorite X-Men Universe based characters! Whether they are the most popular or the least known. Characters from Gambit, Rogue, or Jean, to Professor X, Kitty, Magneto, Sabretooth, Wolverine, Iceman, Pyro, Morph, Jubilee, Laura, Rictor, Shatterstar, and further in the universe!

What Kind of Content Will be Included in this 'zine?

Content included in the 'zine will depend on what the contributors are able or willing to come together to make! Ideas and suggestions are Fanfics, Fanart, keychains, Stickers, a Re-Useable Sticker book, a physical copy of the 'zine, and wallpapers, emotes, and coloring pages; Plus more!

Who are the Mods of This 'zine?

Our Mods of the X-Men Charity 'zine (name still pending) are:

Lee (@witchyleehibernates) As Head Mod; Writing, Socials, and Learning Formatting Pronouns: Anything Interchangibly except she/her Socials: Ao3 - Witchy_Lee_Hibernates Fandom(s): X-Men, Hermitcraft, Life Series, PJO / HoO, and Hunger Games as of currently!! Other: I have experience in three zines (contributing) and I help moderate three other zines, plus two Writing or Creation Events! My friends have called me a 'zine fiend, and they aren't wrong hahaa!

What is the Expectation for Contributors?

Expectations for Writers are --- A Finished Fic that does not exceed 3.5k words. Minimum Word Count is 1k. Has Been Edited to Best of Ability. Has been peer reviewed by at least one person. Expectations for Artists are --- A Finished Art Piece A5, CYMK, 300 DPI for Page Artists Expectations for Physical Merch Artists --- Currently Under Construction Expectations for Digital Merch Artists --- Currently Under Construction

Is Shipping Allowed?

Shipping will be allowed, but in moderation. The focus will primarily be on canon relationships, with other ships allowed at moderator discretion. We understand that what is percieved as canon can vary dependent on the source, which is why we're offering leeway in regards to shipping.

Collaborations

Collaborations involve two people working together to make one or two final products. Collaborators can sign up together, or can meet in the server and decide to work together on their chosen pieces. If there are any specific questions, feel free to send in an Ask or message us!

More questions can be added as more commonly asked ones come up either in sign up forms, check in forms, or here on Tumblr through asks!

Moderator Applications

We are opening moderator applications for people who are able to help us out with aufest battleship between May 31st and June 21st. This is a short-term but intensive moderation job, often involving hours of investment daily during the course of the event. It is an unpaid (volunteer) position.

We are seeking one Spreadsheet Mod and between two and four Discord Mods.

Applicants must be 18 or older, and experience with event moderation, discord moderation, or complex data entry is an asset.
