kiss prompts that make the room spin a little
these are just dialogue, i'll make a scenario version if you guys want!! lmk favs, enjoy :)
"you talk a lot..."
"you're cute when you're jealous."
"yeah?" (teasing or sincere tone, leaning in) "yeah." (sincere!!! or sarcasm)
"fuck it." - this one gets me every time HELLO
"show me what you want."
"i missed you." + a smile
a breathless, barely audible "please" & the wordless answer (a kiss mls)
"i thought you said you don't get flustered." - they earn a blush in response. then they laugh. and boom.
"don't look at me like that!"
"yes, ma'am" as they lean in. (you could use sir, too.)
"we shouldn't be doing this."
"oh yeah?"
"shut up."
"i can't pretend anymore." - first kiss. think yearning
“kill your curiosity. kiss me”

little things i love
to be loved is to be known :)
remembering little details about them, like what their coffee order is or that random thing they said last tuesday. it's the cutest.
them looking at you first after a joke to see if you're laughing too.
^ any form of intense eye contact in group settings
a subtle, but knowing eyebrow raise/smirk/smile
nicknames rooted in a small moment from when they were getting to know each other - they just stuck
sharing clothes, especially hoodies and jackets
when they make playlists for each other, or have one of music the other likes
someone learning how to braid just to do the others' hair
the pinky reach when they're either about to hold hands for the first time, or are trying to subtly reach for the other's support
absentmindedly tracing shapes on their hand/leg/etc

dialogue that lowk breaks me
to brighten up your saturday night, of course.
"i can take care of myself"
"yeah, but you shouldn't have to"
----
"if you don't want to choose me, fine. but don't make the choice for me. that's mine--and i choose you. with my eyes open."
----
"i can't love you if you won't let me."
----
"why do you keep pushing me away? i'm here. i always will be."
----
"don't look at me like that." / "why are you looking at me like that?"
"like what?"
"like you still love me."
this was pretty short, lmk what you guys want next!

tropes i eat up every. damn. time.
these are mostly confessions but do with that what you will :)
taking a walk/ending up in a private space (i.e., a balcony) to escape a party, realizing that there's more to the other person than you previously thought
when they're silent, together. just appreciating each other's presence - esp if they're absentmindedly playing with the hem of the other's shirt, or something of theirs (like running their hands through the other's hair)
any sort of coming-of-age/ya piece of media where they have one last night to go wild before graduating/moving on
that moment where one realizes that they're in love with the other bc of something small/ordinary they did
one drove across town to see the other and they're breathless and when they get to the door all they can do is smile and softly say "hey." when the other opens it. jesus.
one drunkenly confesses their feelings to the other (completely sober) one and totally forgets about it

how to write characters that feel like real people and not NPCs in your brain
You ever read a book and think “this character would survive maybe five minutes in a real conversation”? Yeah. Let’s avoid that. Here’s how to make your fictional friends feel real:
everyone wants something
Even if it’s small. Even if it’s stupid. Every character—from your MC to the one-line barista—should want something. A promotion. Revenge. A nap. World domination. That want shapes how they act.
give them contradictions
Humans are messy. Let your characters be brave and terrified, kind but petty, loyal but deeply in denial. That tension? That’s where the magic lives.
let them make bad choices
If your character is right all the time, they’re either boring or a liar. People mess up. Let your character mess up in ways that feel true to them, not just to move the plot.
interior life > cool dialogue
Quippy one-liners are fun, but what’s going on underneath? What are they afraid to say out loud? What thoughts would they take to the grave? That’s what makes a character feel alive.
how do they show emotion?
Not everyone cries when sad. Some get mean. Some go quiet. Some rearrange their bookshelves obsessively. Find their emotional language.
backstory = spice, not soup
You don’t need a 12-page trauma dump to make a character real. Drip in bits of their past when it matters. Let it shape them quietly.
voice matters
Everyone shouldn’t sound like you. Think about how your character talks. What words do they overuse? Do they ramble? Are they blunt? What don’t they say?
tl;dr: believable characters aren’t perfect—they’re specific. They’ve got fears, flaws, favorite snacks, weird opinions, and conflicting goals. Make them messy. Make them human.

cute pieces of dialogue!
little phrases that get me thinking :))
"it was always you"
"come here" (imagine a slight rasp...)
"you're lucky i love you" (but they didn't mean to say it... they haven't said i love you yet?!)
"did i wake you?"
"i like you when you're jealous, it's cute"
"it's impossible to say no to you [when you do that]"
"you dork!"
"i can't help it, you're fun to mess with"
"quit looking at me like that i can't focus"
"if you were mine, i'd never hurt you"
lmk if you want more!!! i love thinking these up~

angsty/hate to love confession (?) prompts
"you know, everyone thinks you're all tough all the time. but i see (through) you." (both comforting/angry work here tbh)
"i'm right in front of you. i have been, this whole time. why can't you see it?"
"it's impossible to get you out of my head. i've tried, and tried, i swear...but i can't help it"
"i detest you. i detest the way i can't stop thinking about you when you leave a room, or how much control you have over me... god!"
"was any of it real? or did you just lead me on?"
orrr one of them walks into a room, the air thick with all things unsaid, and the other looks confused. all they say is "kiss me." and the other obliges.
idkkk how to feel about these but here they are :)

valentines day scenarios/prompts <3
happy valentines day!! enjoy :)
candlelit dinner: softly speaking in a dimly lit restaurant, jazz playing lightly in the background, holding hands across the table
a night in: holding each other, intimacy & familiarity, laughing together, soft kisses
pictures: polaroids, candids, "stay just like that--you look so beautiful"
flowers: reading the card, opening the door to your partner holding a bouquet, them knowing your favorite flowers
lingerie: lace & frills, buying a new set with them in mind, showing it to your partner, them reacting to you in it
first valentine's day together: butterflies, gentle touches, innocent "i love you"s

some of my favorite fake scenarios and tropes!!
half of these involve secret dating, and i could probably write a whole other post on it. help me.
- person a showing person b their favorite song/artist and freaking out when they enjoy it
- eye contact from across a room (especially in social settings)
- person c (who doesn’t know person a and person b are together) points out how cute they would be, and person a and person b laugh knowingly but look away in an attempt to hide their expression, with person c left all confused.
- mutual pining: the classic “one is head over heels in love but the other is teaching them to do something and they are only focusing on them, not the task at hand”
- or, in the realm of mutual pining: two people who are so clearly into each other being put into a space together alone, and a confession ensues. especially on floors at parties? for some reason?
- two members of a band dating and keeping it a secret from the public (or secret dating in general, toxic trait much?)
- two exes who are still very much in love with each other having to room together (not by choice) on a trip of some sort... one bed trope ensues... second chances?! (#makesecondchanceromanceshealthyforonceplsandty)
- making dinner together and being all cute and person a drags person b to the living room to dance to some cheesy music, and person b isn’t really into it at first but slowly starts loving it
should i make a part two?

i will defend improvised storytelling till the day i fucking die i think stories told by people under pressure to do it fast, stories told in collaboration…. that shits gorgeous and ALIVE. have you ever gone to a writing workshop and someone writes the rawest shit in the entire world during a ten minute free write? playing dnd and some dialogue is so moving it makes you wonder how it came from your dumbass friends? got really into one of those ‘one sentence at a time’ campfire story games and ended up making something— totally unrecorded, lost except to the people who were there— that should have been in the fucking moma?
people are full to the BRIM with stories and honing that storytelling into a specific practice (ex. writing) is for sure a learned skill that takes tons of practice to do effectively but…… it’s there. it’s there and anyone can tap into it if they’re given opportunity and an audience to say it to.
look, the point of telling stories is to connect with other people. and all we’ve ever done throughout human history is connect connect connect so is it any wonder when you put a human being in front of an outlet and you say ‘tell me a story’, no one stays silent?
