I’m sorry for not being active in the past month—school has been really hard and I’m kind of hanging by a thread, lol (I’ll be okay once the semester ends, I just really need a long break). Also, I plan to post the @silver-goggles-guild prompts sometime this weekend!

Fellow autistic people: I need your best tips for dealing with/getting out of autistic burnout when there’s an unavoidable to-do list. Literally any tips at all—I have two more weeks of classes and I am absolutely dragging myself to the finish line. I have to write thirty pages by next Wednesday and I’m completely exhausted and unable to focus 🫠 and some of that is because of my ADHD (so if anyone has tips for that too…that would be awesome xD) but I think most of my issue currently is autistic burnout.

He’s whimpering. Curled up like a child. A lapdog, waiting for its owner to come home. But it’s okay, because his father is still here. In the mockery. In his actions. His words. In him. He’s not coming out of that coffin, but it’s okay. He’s created you to be his own personal mausoleum instead. You have to take up his clothes, and his words, and his scorn, and stay in your cage while he lives in you. You're just a kid, but you can’t shield yourself from how your father rots inside you. Festers. Perfectly moulded. The dagger buried deep.

Writing advice from my uni teachers:

If your dialog feels flat, rewrite the scene pretending the characters cannot at any cost say exactly what they mean. No one says “I’m mad” but they can say it in 100 other ways.

Wrote a chapter but you dislike it? Rewrite it again from memory. That way you’re only remembering the main parts and can fill in extra details. My teacher who was a playwright literally writes every single script twice because of this.

Don’t overuse metaphors, or they lose their potency. Limit yourself.

Before you write your novel, write a page of anything from your characters POV so you can get their voice right. Do this for every main character introduced.

So in that YouTube video someone was talking about Peter's powers not just being super speed but also interia with a side a gravity manipulation. What if Peter's mutation has more of 'magical' twist to it like Wanda/Wendy's? What if it's intention based?

Peter's able to touch people without them basically exploding because he doesn't want to hurt them - or in the case of the prison guards, doesn't want to seriously hurt them. He can interact with the world because he wants to. He can walk, moon walk, run up walls all because that's what he wants to do. Its why he holds Erik's neck to prevent whiplash in dofp but throws kids out windows in apocalypse - because he didn't fully understand his mutation back then, didn't under stand that all he needs to do is not want someone to get whiplash and they won't (the motion sickness can't be helped tho).

On the flip side, imagine what would happen if Peter actually did want to cause damage/hurt someone? He avoids getting into arguments, tries to make himself likeable, doesn't let people know what he really thinks because he knows - he knows - that if he gets into a fight with someone who can push his buttons and he for even a split second thinks about actually hurting them or, god forbid, killing them, then he would - and there's nothing he could do to stop it.

Fuck imagine how he finds that out
