i wish the overlap between ocd and ptsd was talked about more. it's a normal thing after trauma to doubt yourself and your memories, but with ocd it can be exacerbated. for me, i get obsessions about my trauma (whether it actually happened, whether it actually affected me, etc), and the compulsions include purposefully triggering myself, ruminating on the trauma, and putting myself in dangerous situations with abusers. the loop of ocd is best friends with the spiral of ptsd.

"the autism diagnostic criteria is based on deficits and it shouldn't be"
"the diagnostic criteria should also be based on things we're good at"
you guys do know how disorders work right? and why they're diagnosed via deficits/impairments/difficulties in functioning?

solidarity between people who want to take psychiatric meds to function and those who don’t.
What’s important is that we both have autonomy, informed consent and safe access to treatments we want, and to not be forced, coerced or pressured into those we don’t.

do any other autistic people hate when people use the term "neurospicy" like they're too afraid to just say mental disability or developmental disability and also every time i see someone say "neurospicy" i go on their profile and they're always ALWAYS high functioning aspergers and white, and often times women too acting like they're quirky but being mean and rude to autistic people who need more support and help

i think some of you guys misunderstand what disability solidarity is. it's not being able to relate to every other disabled person. basing solidarity and camaraderie on shared experiences or needs will inevitably leave some disabled people in the dust. because all our disabled experiences are different. disability solidarity is making sure that someone who needs a seat gets it even if you have to tell a stranger to get up. it's making sure that allergens are accounted for when you go somewhere even if you can eat everything yourself. it's resolutely standing up against faceism (discrimination against facial differences) even if you have no facial difference yourself. it's treating yourself and other disabled people as a collective who will stand up for each other even when nobody else will. it's helping and being helped. now the last thing im going to do is to tell people to do things beyond their means. but i think if you read this, really consider how much you have even contemplated the needs of a disabled person with radically different issues than yourself

shout out to the people who DO look autistic
to the people who have different facial features from autism or conditions that often occur with autism
to the people who need padded equipment, gait trainers, or other highly noticeable aids
to the people who are ignored in favor of talking to their parents/guardians/carers
to the people who have been told they shouldn’t be seen in public because of their autism
to the people who are told they don’t exist by low support needs autistics
there is a place for you in the autistic community
