I literally can't explain how much I love the way Gustavo Fring (in BrBa) was written. The creators were able to create a character who's stoic, calm and barely shows any emotions, but in the same time making the viewer genuinely sorry for him.

A character who's shown as the "bad guy", the "villain", the "pure evil" but in the same time the creators hint us that he's actually just a man with a motivation and a goal, just like every other character in the series.

Also, the way his relationship with Max was written. His queernes was subtle, not in the "we have a gay character, but we're the normal ones cause we don't show it off so much", but in the "we have a gay character whose sexuality is not socially acceptable in the society our show takes place in" way. It's the perfect example of the "show, don't tell" trope. You can literally feel the emotions between Gus and Max through the screen, even tho they only had one full scene together.
