Support Student Katsuki AU

I would like to propose an AU in which Katsuki is a support student. Only, he still has quirk.

At some point when he was little, before he got his quirk, some kid made a comment to Katsuki. Maybe they were making fun of his dad for working in fashion design or something, but it ended up with Katsuki swearing that he was going to prove them wrong and show that support/costume designers are the unsung heroes of the hero world. He says “Good support items are even more important than a good quirk and I’m going to prove it!”

Izuku and him are already friends, and Izuku is very worried! Because before they were planning to be heroes together! Katsuki tells him it’s okay though, Izuku will be the hero and Katsuki will work at his agency as his support. Izuku was always the sweetheart anyways, and this way Katsuki won’t have to talk to lots of annoying people. They make a promise to each other, that Izuku will be the No.1 pro-hero and Katsuki will support him every step of the way.

When Katsuki gets his quirk, a powerful quirk almost perfectly suited to hero work, people start asking him all the time if he’s going to be a hero or try to encourage him to become one instead. This only increases his Spite Levels to Absolute Maximum. He’s like 4-5 and out to prove that support for heroes is more important than something silly like a quirk. Izuku is the only one who doesn’t pressure Katsuki to try and become a hero, because he knows that isn’t what his best friend wants.

Then Izuku discovers he’s quirkless. 

He stays home from school for two days, and when he comes back he can’t speak to Katsuki at all. Katsuki is genuinely scared for his friend by this point. At the end of the school day Katsuki corners him and demands to know what happened. Izuku breaks down and starts crying.

“I’m so sorry Kacchan, I know I promised you that I would be the No.1 pro-hero but I- I- I’m quirkless.”

Several seconds of silence and Izuku can’t even look at him because he knows Katsuki will hate him now. 

“…Wait that’s it?”

And then Izuku looks up at his friend whose giving him a frown but seems more confused than anything else.

“What do you mean ‘that’s it’? I just told you I’m quirkless and my momma said I can’t be a hero without a quirk. You’ll have to be a hero instead of me.”

Katsuki just scoffed. 

“Well that’s bullshit. Half the heroes nowadays rely more on support items than their quirks anyways, and there’s plenty of heroes with quirks that could be completely replicated with the right support weapon!” 

Then he pauses, thoughtful, looking off into the distance.

“Actually this will be even better! I’ll get to prove that the support items are more important than some dumb quirk with absolute certainty! No one will be able to question the value of support items once the No. 1 pro-hero is quirkless.” 

Izuku looked up at him with wide shining eyes now. 

“You… You really still think I can be a hero Kacchan? Even without a quirk?”

That got Katsuki to focus back on Izuku and give him that bright smile that Izuku couldn’t help but adore. The smile that made Izuku feel like he could do anything.

“I know you will be. I’m going to make you the best hero ever, without any dumb quirk.”

he runs them out to slovenia on a lead and while wally is back to google translate dick is already helping the perp's grandma file her taxes

damian assumes dick is ridiculously stupid at first because he's seen dick's file and it's like 'didn't finish college, hasn't had a stable job ever, still doesn't use his trustfund money' so clearly dick is beneath him

but when damian gets completely stumped over a chemical compound he can't identify, dick manages to identify it after 10 seconds of looking and damian's just like "i'm going to idolise the absolute shit out of you from here on out"

steph gives dick her med school homework to prove to bruce that college is really difficult and he just fills it all in in 15 minutes and hands it over while she's still ranting about the work load.

"how can you know this much about neurobiology?" "i dabble"

12 year old dick grayson accidentally solved superman's case because he thought it was clark's crime novel and he's like "clearly this franklin guy killed his brother, his entire alibi is shit, it's too obvious. honestly uncle clark, i know you can write a better story than this."

jason tried to cheat dick out of a win at a pubquiz by switching all the questions with really specific ones and dick still won.

"which country got was group 4's winner in the european football cup of 1996?" "croatia" "how the fuck"

tim knows that technically, dick is a genius, but he's also seen him flying into walls at 60 miles per hour so he's a little skeptical until dick's like "wanna see me hack the pentagon?" and genuinely hacks the pentagon

When you witness some gruesome crimes and torture your Dad commits, you make a decision

Jason, he's the love you pick

Against your Fathers wishes, you go with Red Hood, and help to take him down

Of course, you hesitate

Eventually your Father promises to let you have what you want, so long as he is never approached by Red Hood again

You agree

Jason isn't happy about that, but understands

Roman is still your Father after all

Friday night dinner are tense though, with your boyfriend sitting across from your Dad

You always found Robin to be an arrogant SOB

The first one wasn't that bad, he was funny

After Jason fell, you saw how broken Bruce was

Then Red Hood came around

Leviathan is Autistic! (And here's why!)

Literally every part of his personality screams autistic, there's nothing about it that doesn't, much less go against it.

Most of all imo is that he looks to anime to try to figure out how to act and how to be "cool." Calling everyone normies almost seems more about them (not visually) being neurodivergent instead of for not being weebs too imo. He uses it for situations that have nothing to with weeb culture constantly.

But also he's really blunt and sometimes unintentionally rude when not being manipulative, he has a hard time emphasizing, feels isolated and unable to relate to anyone, he's happy watching the same thing daily, he rushes to categorize people into tropes and finds it easier to understand.

His hyperfixations, constantly caging people to rant at them, his poor control over his demon form compared to the others, his excited yelling and body movements, he feels really uncomfortable with direct skin contact unless warned, the way he jumps when touched, the way he only wants to wear comfortable clothes and adjusts his uniform to be as comfortable as possible.

He's even able to remember the tiniest little details about his hyperfixations like what was in the Lord of Shadow's hands for a second in the TSL quiz.

He fits pretty much every major symptom in adults so far besides getting easily overstimulated. Even then that might be part of why he hates going out and eating at the table so much and always has headphones on him.

I hate loud noises in general, but personally it's more the overlapping of sounds that really get me freaked out. Like having the TV on while a bunch of people are talking, especially several different conversations, and a dog barking or silverware clinking. Covering all of that with a cohesive loud sound like music is a huge help for me and it could be for him.

Literally everything about him is something I can relate to or I've seen in a ton of other autistic people and I can't say the same for all "shy" or nerdy characters either.

It's worth noting that despite being the avatar of envy he's actually very confident (bordering on arrogant) when it comes to his talents. He's only really unsure of his social skills.

He's also surprisingly forward if you state your interest in him, he'll even initiate kisses. To me that kind of hints at not being confident in his ability to read social cues and expressions, which is textbook behavior.

Overall he strikes me more as someone who has no confidence in his romantic desirability and has a hard time reading people than someone who's just shy and submissive or generally has low self-esteem. You can be both of course, but I don't think he's just shy or very submissive.

He's actually kind of a (loveable) asshole that never hesitates to throw his opinions out there even if they get him in trouble.

I don't know if Solomare intended him to be, he could've just been based on typical otaku stereotypes but said stereotypes are autistic coded as well. A lot of hardcore otakus (using the Japanese definition) are autistic irl and a lot of autistic people irl are otakus.

Hardcore otaku culture in itself reeks of autism tbh. Anime otakus have become kind of glamorized, but if you see the same behavior with train or bug otakus it's a lot easier for neurotypicals to recognize it as "obsessive" and "weird" rather than "quirky" or passionate.

That would explain so much!!

I mean: him hiring i.m.p as bodyguards in loo loo land wasn’t really needed (he did deal with the imp at the end of that episode quite easily) but the fact that the first hired assassins were so unimpressive would explain why he didn’t look concerned in the festival or at the family dinner at the end of ep 5

Makes sense. That would explain why there were some many imps trying to kill him while nothing happened to Octavia.

Maybe Stolas is not that dumb and he hired Blitzo because he could hear Stella talking about it on the dinner table. I mean, at the end of Stella's scene in the last episode you can see Stolas noticed something. He is not that oblivious, even less if Stella keeps talking with the people she hires on the family table xD

Bruce hated high school reunions. He might have more PhD than any of them and he might be the one to work with the Avengers but to them he was still just nerdy Bruce.

It wasn´t like he didn´t have any friends back in high school, just not that many and he wasn´t even sure if they were going to come. He sure as hell didn´t want to. But then he was reminded that it would be good to see how his anxiety had improved. Also, you should face your fears, right? (Bruce thought that was bullshit, at least when it came to him and social anxiety)

So, Bruce went. And people remembered him. People that changed. Who were now nice to him. He didn´t know if it was because they were scared he would turn into Hulk or because he knew Tony Stark or Captain America, but it was nice to be treated like a normal human being and not like a freak or a nerd or some kind of weirdo. It was nice to have a normal conversation.

“Josh and I just moved to Kansas,” one of his old class mates told him. “It´s not really what I dreamt of but his family lives there, so…”

“There sure is worse,” Bruce said sipping on his drink.

She nodded, taking a sip of her own drink. “What about you?”

Bruce merely raised a brow to her. “Well, have you spent all your time getting PhD and saving the world or have you found someone you would move to Kansas for?”

He smiled over the rim of his glass. She wouldn´t believe him if he told her. People never do. “I have. It´s one of my teammates actually.”

She set her drink aside. “Who?” she asked curiously, leaning forward.

Whatever, Bruce thought. I´ll just tell her. “It´s Thor.”

Had she not set her drink aside, she would have choked on it. “You have sex with a god?” She whisper-yelled over the table they were sat on. “That is the first thing you thought of?” Bruce laughed.

“I don´t believe you,” she said, eyeing him suspiciously.

“I have a picture of us,” He smirked, taking yet another sip from his glass, knowing how people freak out once they see the tiny photo of Thor carrying him while kissing his cheek that Steve shot while trying out new technologies. It had been a warm day and Thor wanted Bruce to come into the pool. He, in return, didn´t move an inch from his position at the bar so the god had decided to take manners into his own hands (literally). It didn´t bother Bruce as much as he said it would. Sometimes it was nice to be manhandled and showed once again how strong his boyfriend was.

“No, you don´t,” Natalie all but gasped.

“That´s it, I´m taking my wallet out,” Bruce declared, fumbling with his pocket.

You hated this gym. It was loud and whenever you tried to open a window the weird old man closed it within mere seconds. All you wanted to do was take a shower and get the hell out of here.

So, grabbing your towel from the treadmill, you gave the old man a last suspicious look (seriously, why was he even there? All he did was close the windows and not use anything after trying to figure out how to use them. He was super fucking weird) and made your way to the changing room.
