It's how much I wish sign language was incorporated into theater more often. It's such a physical language and the story telling you can do w/ sign language is an art in of itself. It just makes so much sense to incorporate it more into theater. Particularly w/ shows that use English that may be a little more archaic. It would push the actors into having deeper physicality. I mean idk how much Shakespeare people have seen, but often times, low physicality on the actors end makes for a bad performance of most any piece like that.

And I of course won't just talk about this w/o mentioning the success this has had on contemporary theater. There's been a plethora of Deaf schools/colleges in the US that have done whole musical performances where the performers are signing. It not only has built accessibility in their performance but it's added a new trait to the physicality to the character, making for an overall more visually interesting show. There is literally no downside to it. The only matter is a learning curve, but that's not such a bad thing. If there was performers in the case of these schools who weren't as proficient in ASL, they'd walk out with a much more active experience and not just a classroom experience of using the language. How absolutely amazing is that?

I simply trust that they have some complex order that manipulates even my most precise emotion using the connections between music theory and psychology. Ekko and Jinx are like 2 sides of the same coin. They have to face the struggle behind losing their caretaker except Ekko was never thrown out or taken in by the wrong person. He was just left. However, both become direct enemies under poor circumstances. They are the true definition of the decision made in similar circumstances yet different influences. It's this story of living through trauma in different ways. Showing a parallel in how people view healing. Ekko looks at the flaws in the world and doesn't feel they should be abolished but that people should be able to have a place to know they aren't all there is. To be able to heal while maintaining the quirks that make them people. Jinx however finds any perceived flaws and wishes to destroy them. This can be small things, like different opinions. She must have complete control and she drives herself into a wall when while trying.

The difference? Well Jinx had her flaws consistently pointed out to her growing up and would rarely hear people compliment her in spite of that. Ekko however had both flaws and strengths pointed out to him so he actually believed they could coexist. Ekko saw a future in who he was as well, that was something made very clear by the people around him. Powder could not see a future in being herself which is why she became Jinx in the first place.

Are we seeing all that I'm putting down? The two are a beautiful parallel and they could have learned so much from each other and they could have grieved together. and maybe. Neither of them would have been so lonely.
