Since I majored in Scientific Illustration, I always thought it would be kind of funny to do comically inaccurate scientific illustrations. After years of it being in the back of my mind, here is a Narwhal drinking from a trumpet flower like a hummingbird. Because it is silly. :) I did one version with text and one without.

We did a cosplay photoshoot! All pictures of Deathtrap were taken and photoshopped by me (I photoshopped out his legs and feet), and all pictures of Gaige were taken by Rick DiDonato. The “weapon” is a Nerf Zombie Eraser that I painted (admittedly slapdashedly) to look like a Dahl Hornet. (My favorite Borderlands weapon.) The Zombie Eraser actually shoots green silly string, which makes it a very gentle Dahl Hornet.

These are our Gaige and Deathtrap from Borderlands 2 cosplays. Deathtrap took FOREVER!! Deathtrap is assembled from reused cardboard boxes and tubes, plastic bottles, duct tape, paint, hot glue, a blue battery-operated tea light, and a small, blue, fiber optic lamp. My Gaige costume is made of mostly thrifted clothing, cheap sunglasses, belts from a thrift store,cardboard tools, craft foam for the belt and robot arm, wire, paperclay, paint, and nuts and bolts.

I was being very in character as Tonks, talking to Moaning Myrtle, telling her I was sorry she died in a toilet, when a group of Hogwarts kids came up. I saw Harry, and shouted, "Wotcher, Harry!" and I heard a voice say, "Are you Tonks?!" and I said, "yes!" and a turquoise-haired young man ran up and said, "I'm Teddy!" and I was so in character I went, "YOU'VE GROWN SO BIG!" and gave him a big hug, and was TEARY-EYED. Because for a split second, because I was in character, I was seeing my grown son that I have not seen since he was a baby because I died in the Second Wizarding War fighting for his future. And I got ALL THE FEELS. 

Afterward I told him it was lovely to meet him... again! (ugh why?), and it suddenly hit me HOW AWKWARD I AM!!! HOLY CRAP!!! WHY??? It’s a con, nobody wants Daniel Day-Lewis shit. ::sigh::

Here’s Rick’s Loot Crate entry!  It’s obviously Gambit-inspired. But it also incorporates the ultimate power of Rick’s nerd-dom...his Harley Quinn hoodie, his Dante jacket, and his playing cards, because Rick actually does card tricks. :) Vote for Rick! Somebody else did a Gambit-themed one right after him, and I think it really stole his thunder, but I think he deserves votes! GIVE HIM YOUR THUNDER!!

This is my Loot Crate Power Pose contest entry! I had recently decided that if I could have a super power, it would be an alliance with birds, where birds would come to my aid simply out of respect, and never poop on me or my car. Mostly because I think summoning a huge swarm of birds would just look cool. When I saw this contest, I thought it would be a fun opportunity to portray my ideal super power! I call this picture Bird Lady: The Reckoning! Thanks to Rick for taking the photo, which I then manipulated and added digitally hand-drawn birds to. I decided to go with a film noir take on Poison Ivy for the most recent con we attended. The dress is from Lindy Bop’s Made in Britain collection. The hat and stole were made by me out of leaves from the dollar store, and the shoes are old shoes of mine that I painted green and added leaves to. Eye shadow and lip gloss by Shiro Cosmetics, eyeliner by Kat Von D Beauty. The hair color is Manic Panic.

My masquerade mask! I made an abstract design based on 30th Street Station, one of my favorite buildings.

Rick needed a mask for a masquerade party we were going to, and decided he wanted to be Handsome Jack. The mask I had to work with is pictured below. I had really limited time, so I ran the mask under water and went to work shaping it. I then folded some printer paper and taped it to the mask with cloth medical tape (to add a jaw and chin) and then painted over it. With the help of a blow dryer, it took 2 hours at most. Just a fun little time crunch project.

It's been YEARS since I carved a pumpkin, and since I had clay tools, I decided to try my hand at pumpkin sculpting! In the dark, by a dim porch light, lol.
