Cosi concept!

I've been struggling to design my sona for about 7 months (since last October) and every time, I get a little closer, but never close enough to be satisfied. Here I'm happy with the yellow head and the hatching on the really dark markings, but I want to change up the rest of the markings a little -- make the teals more green, make the darker blue-purples less saturated, and so on.

I find that character design is always like this; lots of iterations, with little changes each time, some of which make it through to the next version, some of which don't. It's time consuming and tedious, but it makes my design work a lot better.

Especially for a sona, like this, where I have a very high standard because besides being readable and replicable, they also need to feel like me.

I've found that the main thing that makes me identify with a character is not their design but their story, so I've been working on Cosi's story/lore. I'll save the full explanation for when I make/finish their ref (in a billion years time) but the gist is that they're sort of a cryptid. Yippee

Anyway I need to do my work so bye bye (also sorry for being inactive :< I was on holidays for a while but I'm back and I might give Tumblr another shot but we'll have to see)

Uh, so I don't like Vee's canon design, mostly her palette. A green palette could work, sure, but her specific palette is not good. Primarily because the two shades of green are almost exactly the same value (which makes them blend together), but also because it makes her look much more like a computer than a TV. Besides the colours, it kind of bothers me that she (and many other toons) are basically completely naked.

So I wanted to take a shot at redesigning her.

Here, we have a red/blue/grey colour scheme. This just makes the most sense to me; when I think "movie" or "TV" those are the colours I think of. The red and blue are also supposed to mimic 3D glasses.

She's fully clothed, in a suit because what else would she wear. Gave her white gloves bc the light value draws attention to her hands and makes her gestures easier to understand. Her face and tail glow for the same reason. I'd have Vee's tail always showing, by the way. I do not want to know where she puts it in canon. Uh. Anyway, she has a belt chain too bc they're cool.

Will make a good drawing of this design at some point, but I'm feeling lazy tonight, so yeah.

Ok that's it byeee (I will go back to my regular stuff eventually, I promise, but feast well in the meantime)

Moon Mascot Needed!

I never post here so I have crafted some mysterious OC ship art for you. Congratulations

Urmmmm I don't remember whether I've posted stuff about these guys at all in the last few months, but these are the two OCs I brainrot about the most: Ice (lighter one) and Pip (darker one). I've been working on their story lately which is a huge W for me because I'm allergic to actually working on my stories

The context for this is that they are sort of in love but the relationship is toxic. I'd say more but I don't want to give away spoilers (also because the details tend to change since I'm very indecisive).

The HTTYD universe's ecosystem must've been so damaged when all the dragons dissappeared.

"but people wanted to hurt them!" people want to hurt wolves to, but we don't send them all to an isolated cave because it would destroy the ecosystem.

In fact, "dragon" is just a collective word for multiple species so they really fucked themselves with that one.

In conclusion, the third movie was stupid.

writing fanfiction is hell why do people do it. how are people writing over 2-3k words. on the regular. how.

Back at it again with my ClanGen game! You might remember me talking about ClanGen. You may naturally assume I've picked it up again recently and decided to draw my clan's ten founders, and that I spent a few days to a week making this. And you would, naturally, be wrong. I started this in February. I drew the first eight cats. All that was left was Morningpaw and Creekpaw. But I just. Stopped. And forgot about it. Until a month or so ago, when I FINALLY drew the last two cats. And then I forgot about it again until a week or two ago, when I finished it up, and I'm now posting it.

These cats are from HeronClan, a fanmade Warriors Clan that lives by the sea. They are the Clan's founders. You might have noticed the 2:3 adult to child ratio, which was an accident, and resulted in Rowanstar getting four apprentices: Wolfpaw, Webpaw, Morningpaw and Creekpaw. I can only imagine what that must have been like. Mouselarch was the only warrior at the beginning, too. I'm now in the 30-somethingth moon, and the Clan has wayyy more members now; I'm thinking of drawing another list of cats once I get to Moon 50, but we'll have to see.

Here are the traits/skills of each cat, so you can get a bit of a feel for their personalities:

Rowanstar: calm, unusually strong fighter

Toadheart: careful, great teacher

Skystripe: faithful, great hunter (pain)

Mouselarch: strange, good teacher

Wolfpaw: patient

Ganderpaw: ambitious

Hillpaw: ambitious

Webpaw: loyal

Morningpaw: compassionate

Creekpaw: cold

I started this game before the experience system changed, so that's why the apprentices don't have skills yet.
