Dr. Sathya is a veterinarian in the Government of Tamil Nadu, India. She is a dedicated, hard-working and sincere worker. She has even won best worker award from the Collector of Tiruchendur district. Her husband Dr. S. Sasikumar is an Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Veterinary Pathology, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Theni, TN, India.

Last week, she was diagnosed with Cryptococcal meningeal infection after suffering a severe migraine for two weeks. She was 7 months pregnant. Once the diagnosis was made, the baby was delivered pre-term through caesarean under general anaesthesia. The baby is doing fine and is monitored in NICU.

Dr. Sathya is in ICU for the past one week. Anti-fungal treatment has been started. However, she is kept in ventilator in a sedated state. She needs a minimum of 2 weeks of anti-fungal treatment. Her platelets have come down.

She is being treated at KMCH, Coimbatore.

The everyday medical expense reaches upto 1.5 lakhs. The total cost for saving both the lives may come up to Rs. 30 lakhs. Both Dr. Sathya and Dr. Sasikumar stem from a poor financial background and they won’t be able to afford this enormous amount.

The veterinarians of TN have helped us raise a fare amount of funds. However, looking at the slower progress in Dr. Sathya’s health, she will be needing medical monitoring for a MINIMUM of one month. This will need more money.

I know that I’ve written a post where I’ve said that, “Remove people who ruin your peace. You need peace, not them.” But after contemplating on those particular words, I was thinking did I really feel peaceful after unfriending / unfollowing / unsistering / unbrothering / un-any-damn-ing or was I just finding ways to satisfy my ego by rubbing theirs? I think it is about the ego. You just want to feed your ego. By telling them you don’t care about them or you are not waiting for their texts / calls / likes / comments or you don’t care they even exist in your life. Just pure unadulterated ego! Is it wrong? Is it wrong to satisfy your ego? Why not? What’s wrong? What’s wrong in a little bit of ego when you’re quite young? Is it not an experience? Is it not a young trait? Doesn’t it fade when you’re old? Nope, it is perfectly fine to satisfy your ego a bit. Because, life will chisel out your ego little by little as you age. It will put you through a lot of insults, damages, shaming and even life-threats, where your ego will wane tardily. And when you’re old, you would have even forgotten the part of satisfying egos. There is this one mistake we all tend to commit in life. We love to be that good kid to elders. We simply don’t want to refute them or even show that we are irritated about their behaviour. We shield our hard feelings under a carpet called respect. But that can hit you very hard later in life. I remember a school friend, who was married at the age of 24, saying this: “I refute my in-laws, I tell them I cannot do these things. I tell them that certain things cannot be done this way. Only then they’ll know who we are from the initial stages. If you be that good kid nodding for everything they say, then it will be worse the day you refute.” I did not realise the importance of this point, although it was stuck in my head. It was one of the best advises I’ve heard in life. Is it not true? Its not only about in-laws, be it anybody for that matter. Don’t bother about straining the relationship. Don’t bother about your sweetness of nature. Just show them right in the face who you actually are. Tell them what you hate. Tell them you don’t like to be criticised. Tell them that they should be thankful for what you could cook for them when they are unable to do it for themselves. Tell them not to suggest ideas towards anything that is very personal to you. Tell them they cannot have a say when you are having a conversation with some other friend of yours. Tell them they cannot comment on matters that are out of their zone. Tell them that they cannot instruct you on certain matters. This way, they will accept that you refute and also you won’t be clinging on to those hard feelings everyday which gets bottled up only to have an emotional outburst later. Relationships vs Marriage! I don’t know how many people will actually get this! The point is some people, when they enter into their furious self, they just go into a shell called silence. They just can’t help it. Because they have understood that they have lost people to their words. So, they just need to be silent until they forget certain untoward experiences you gave them.
