Quick question: I too love pencils, but I’d been (sadly) moving away from them because I couldn’t figure out a good way to share my pencil art online—all my pictures made them look terrible, and my scanner can’t pick up the faint lines.

How do you do it? Is it digital, and if so, what program/pens do you use to make it look so natural? Or if it’s traditional like it looks, what kind of dark magic do you harness to make it visible online???

(Also, thank you again for sharing your art, it was a pick-me-up I didn’t realize I needed today <3)

As far as how I do it...uh, it's a bit of a process:

Most of my drawings are traditional paper and pencil...that I get from Walmart, haha! As for the dark magic...pure luck, really. I'm lucky enough to have access to a high quality scanner. If you don't have one at home, you can sometimes find them at a local library or genealogy center, or your school if you're a student. Otherwise, there are plenty of online tutorials on taking quality photographs of your art. Even then, the scans/photos sometimes need fixing. I use Photoshop to straighten and crop, adjust the lighting ("Levels" and "Brightness/Contrast" are especially useful for bringing out the fainter lines), and remove any minor flaws (e.g. dust specks or smudges).

That's a fairly overall breakdown of what I do, but I hope that helps!
