Here is a fabulous image of NASA's Deep Space Network station 53 aiming upward into the skies over Madrid, Spain. Getting better grades in school or doing better in job training can be much smoother and less difficult than most people make it. The problem often is that we don't know how to study, take notes, and prepare for exams.

I struggled in school mostly because no one in my world really understood how to study (other than memorizing). Teachers slung class material at us, but never got into how to learn it. I got lucky and started to figure things out by trial and error, going with what seemed to work.

Not until I trained for my flight instructor license did I really get a firm idea of how we humans learn and what we need to do for good test taking. The computer era has made things easier, but I still see school kids and working people struggle with bad BAD attempts to learn. Not a clue about note taking, mindfulness, or other things which make a difference.

My book, "Study Like a MOFO," is deliberately small, meaty, and inexpensive. I probably couldn't have afforded the books and courses or tutors with these lessons, back in the day. If your information gathering involves monitoring aircraft or ATC on the VHF air band, here is a great tool: KiwiSDRs connected to downconverters.

There is one near Tokyo (in Yokota) and another one is near Moscow. These radios are special because you cab be anywhere in the world and connect to listen. You can watch signals appear on many frequencies and click on one to hear it. Adjust your filter passband with your mouse. The SDRs have excellent AM demodulators so the sound is good, even on weak signals.
