I think I have a relatively uncommon trans experience in that I didn't actually choose my new name. After the initial dust had settled from me coming out (which is a whole other story) my parents decided they didn't like my chosen name, Octavia (not the name I would have chosen now but I still like it).

I remember when I told them that was my new name. My mom laughed at me, then cried when she realized I was serious. My dad was stone. So they picked a different name for me, Fynn. You may note that this is not a particularly feminine or even gender neutral name. It did, however, have the virtue of not being my old name and I, being scared of any retribution from standing my ground, acquiesced.

I'm apathetic toward the name at best, I more often than not despise it. It's undeniably masculine, people assume that I'm a man before they meet me, it's masculine nature makes it inherently easier for people to misgender me, and it's mistaken for Flynn about 80% of the time which is an even more masculine name.

If I were to do it over, I'd name myself Sophia. I love that name. I changed my name once though and that was hard enough. I can't imagine going through that again.

So I settle for naming my favorite stuffed animal Sophia. I send friends pictures of her, captioned things like "say hi to Sophia," and they reply, "hi Sophia!" In those moments I like to imagine they're talking to me.

went to the doctor today and the x-ray tech said, "wow your your lungs are longer than they are wide, that's what women have, usually men have wider lungs" and sure this whole visit I've been misgendered like always but in that moment the universe threw me a bone, a little sign that said: you were made to be a woman, it wasn't a mistake, and i appreciate that

also shout out to the nurses that did my EKG and looked at my boobs then looked at me then got really confused

pro tip for transfems

you can create your own boobs by just obsessively working out your chest. yeah yeah you don't want to be bulky or whatever but like

1. it's hot asf (esp if you're sapphic) 2. most trans fems will only have natural a cups (this also means that working out won't shrink them bcs there's no fat to lose) and that would have been me but because i worked out my chest for so long i have natural b/c cups and they're fantastic
