Binding Services Update
While I am no longer taking orders, customers can contact Single Bound Studios - http://www.singleboundstudios.com/ - David Banks is relaunching Single Bound Studios and will offer all the services that I previously offered, from art to prep and beyond.
They will have access to any art I designed previously, so if wish to match a volume that will be totally doable.

Big News
Welp, big announcement time: I will no longer be taking new orders. I'll be directing folks to Houchen Bindery (who has done all the binding work for me anyway) and will have more details on that very soon.
Everything is great with me; I just found out I will be moving to Japan, which I'm very very excited about. But obviously being there makes helping folks with binding difficult :)
I hope to be able to do some graphic design once I'm settled, but that's a-ways down the road.
It's been a blast meeting and working with so many comic fans and I'm going to really miss it.  I can't thank you enough for all the support.
On the upside (for you all anyway!) I will be letting go of quite a few of my own personal binds, so keep your eyes peeled for those soon.
Thanks!
-Kirk

We recently helped Walt Flanagan of @comicbookmen and @tellemstevedave37fame get some books bound! Here is Walt showing off his fresh new custom hardcovers of three of the books he did with fellow CBM and Steve Dave-er Bryan Johnson: Cryptozoic Man, War of the Undead, and Karney. We took the trade paperbacks of those titles and prepped them to be bound into hardcovers, made custom covers and dust jackets, and formatted and printed some unused art that Walt provided as bonusmaterial for each volume.
Additionally, we worked on some books from Walt's back issue collection, including a full run of John Ostrander's Grimjack (7 volumes, including the two Munden's Bar annuals, The Gift, and Crossroads, with a connecting spine image across the entire set), Steve Gerber's Foolkiller (done Marvel Omnibus-style), and a two-issue magazine-sized book called Hell Rider.

We received some pics from a customer of some recently completed Spider-Binds! In one volume is J.M. DeMatteis and Sal Buscema's run on Spectacular Spider-Man, and the other is the uncollected Tom DeFalco run on Spider-Girl.
The customer wanted these to look like classic Marvel omnis, so we did our best to get as close as possible. These were DFA bound, with dust jackets, custom table of contents pages, and the Spectacular Spider-Man bind also had some custom end papers we whipped up.

Still on the DC event kick (we'll post some non-DC stuff next, don't worry!), we received an order this past week to make a two volume Infinite Crisis set out of a bunch of trade paperbacks.
But this wasn't just a case of removing some covers and stacking the trades to bind them as-is. With our handy dandy exacto knife, a blow dryer, and some patience, we organized the content from the trades into the reading order the customer requested. This also involved scanning and reprinting some pages to avoid duplicate pages, as well as printing out covers for issues that the original trades did not include covers for.
So here are some process pictures from that! We have the stack of trades before we got to work, some pictures of the final stacks ready for binding, and a picture of the leftover material (trade covers, issues that got duplicated, etc)
So if you've ever had a bunch of trades and wished they were hardcovers, don't feel left out - you can bind those too!
Email us at [email protected] to get started!

This week we're going to feature some binds we did for a customer centering on some of the huge events DC Comics put out just prior to the New 52. First up: Blackest Night!
This was a five volume set with custom covers, custom dust jackets, and custom table of contents pages. They were smyth sewn from the original single issues and also have black & gold head and tail bands and black ribbons.
So if you'd prefer your floppies be turned into some really nice hardcovers like these, rather than taking up space in a long box, give us a shout! [email protected]
