It’s been a long few days and I’m tired

But I can’t nap before heading back into work because the guys delivering my laundry machine (Who were supposed to be here by five hours ago) still haven’t arrive. Now it’s apparently up in the air whether they will show up today at all, says the maintenance guy who “forgot” about my need for one for two months.

I’m sorry, I don’t mean to bring this kind of negativity here. I’m just tired and irritable and needed to rant a little. Hope everyone’s Monday is going a touch better than mine, at least.

Okay Kids: So here’s where it gets complicated.

This post is where the meat of where I’m at development-wise is, so if you’re interested strap in. Not on, tumblr doesn’t like that anymore. NSFW joking aside, this is where I was really struggling. As in, I know I got a lot done. A lot more set in stone than the 15 year old me who started Crossgate so long ago would have dreamed of ever setting down because “What if people don’t like it”. Well I’m almost double her age now, so I’m the adult, and I say who cares. I like it and I worked hard on it and will continue to do so.

So I have ten realm overviews done and ready to be statted out and populated, basically for those who are newer I have every basic thing I want detailed out in exhaustive detail, but not playable as there is no risk/reward/direct social factor built into most of them yet. No win/lose conditions, aside from some very well written exceptions, doesn’t typically lead to very compelling gameplay and alas I do not think I have that level of experience.

I have 30 classes queued with minor overviews, 6 with more detailed setup, and I am working on the spell-list, stats and abilities of one in depth right now. Basically where I’m at is I am working with an adult, full time schedule and living completely on my own for the first time over the last few months due to a variety of circumstances that saw me moving out of my SO’s house. I am working slowly, but very, very seriously toward making Crossgate into a reality and I appreciate you all.

Alrighty-O time for an update on this week’s progress for our game’s development! So scattered throughout the day, I’ll pop in and update on what’s going on but let’s start here. Below is the concept art sketch I did for our Frost Shaman with an Owl Companion. As Frost Shamans are predominately focused on the Spirit world and the ephemeral line between life and death, this is largely reflected in their companions, who, as they get more powerful, develop a more spectral/skeletal appearance.This girl lost her leg in an....”astral” accident, shall we say? She attempted something well above her level, simple as that.  But yes, sketch done by me, top progress part done by my Partner-in-Dev who sadly doesn’t have any socials for me to link you to.

What Game Development feels like sometimes

A monk based on a European Christian archetype. They have sworn a sacred oath to defeat the giant snail plaguing the countryside.

A dragonborn desperately trying to convince the party that they’re really an aarakocra with a skin condition that made their feathers fall out.

Your standard horny bard, but they play a washboard. 

A sentient hat piloting a mannequin.

A dark elf who’s afraid of the dark, and terrified of spiders.

A peasant farmer who joined the adventure because they’re going through a midlife crisis and want to ~find themself.~

A druid who got involved because they’re the party’s weed dealer.

A werewolf who doesn’t believe in the moon.

What this means is, that ever single one of the following

Jack Be Nimble (who jumped over burning candles for fun)

Jack the Giant Killer (who sold his cows for magic beans then robbed and killed a giant)

Stingy Jack (who tricked the devil so many times he was banned from both afterlives)

Jack of Jack and Jill (who splattered his head open falling down a hill)

Jack o’ Lantern (the headless horseman spirit of halloween)

Jack Frost (the spirit who heralds the end of autumn and the start of winter)

Are literally the same jackass who made so many bad life choices he ended up an immortal ice dullahan with a pumpkin serving as both his head and flashlight
