I’ve been feeling super discouraged lately.

I’m not exactly sure what the problem is but I’ve felt “less than” as a writer as of late. I took a short break from writing my WIP because I was self editing it to shreds.

I’ve been using this break to catch up on reading. I started out with a few of my fav comfort books but I think I just need to get into something new in order to take a step back from my WIP.

I going to spend my night scrolling. Something new catches my eye

And I would just like to say how thankful I am that I found this community!

You should be writing!

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but fantasising about writing won’t get your novel written!

Set aside some time today to sit down and actually write. No matter how short or long it is, just get something on the page. Do this today. Try it again tomorrow. You'll be surprised how quickly you start to make progress.

Fantasy Pic-crew Tag Game!

Frist we have Cassandra:

She's a 19 year old college student so I think shed be waring what ever is trendy at the time.

Next we have Isla:

She is Cassandra's roommate and best friend.I see her wear earth tones. Long chestnut curls that run down her back. Dark brown eyes and a beatiful smile.

Lastly we have Ezra:

Ezra is Isla's older brother. I imagine his to have honey hazel eyes, and curls to match his sister. He's also has an air of superiority to him.

Fantasy Pic Crew Tag Game!

I was tagged by @dazeddreamerr, thank you! This was a lot of fun! Check out their post here! -----> HERE

So I definitely did have some trouble with this, Pic Crew isn't always the best for a lot of body types or people that are on the younger or older side, which is unfortunately a good number of my characters. So Narul, my MC isn't here, he's just too big to really work here, none of the Polycule are here either, they're a bit too old. I tried my best to get the ancient aesthetics with these. Almost all of the men in my setting have beards, so that makes this a bit difficult haha

Starting off here is Otilia

At the start of the story she is 29 years-old, born into a wealthy merchant family in Korithia, and is currently on a vacation of sorts in the land of Kishetal. I would include her girlfriend, Shela, but this creator doesn't really capture her body type.

Next up is Zatar, Pre-Wrath era (Technically he would still have the commoner version of his name at this point, so he would still be Zatur rather than Zatar):

At this time he is 17, and has recently been kicked out of the brothel he had been living/working at, after an altercation. He know lives on the streets of Labisa, keeping himself fed by digging through garbage and sneaking from the city to hunt game.

And Lastly, Here is one of my MCs, Ninma

Ninma is only five at the start of the story, so this is obviously not her at the start, rather this around the middle of the story when she is around 17. This is during her "Pirate" Era, when she first meets Jani.

When your characters just start revealing lore you didn't know about them, as you're writing them

Spent my day learning (trying to learn) how to format a manuscript I also did some research on how to format for self publishing.

If anyone has any tips for someone just starting out would be appreciated.

Character list as it stands rn.

- Cassandra, Cassie, Cass - main character

- roommate who still doesn’t have a name

- Ezra - roommates best friend

- Konnen Kerl - translation : Might Guy (Iykyk)

- Celeste Becker - librarian

- Mom and dad - do not have names yet

The story is starting to come together now that the characters have names (minus roommate). Naming roommate is definitely the next step but I’m no good at picking out character names. And “Konnen Kerl” is German, well two German words. My partner picked out the name Might Guy, it took me a little bit to fix a translation that sounded like a name. Konnen was formerly known as “Creek Guy” lol. Now that I have main characters names and their personalities fledged out I feel like the story can continue.

I’d like to give another huge shout out to all the people who voted on “the Guy name” poll. You guys not only suggested the name but picked it too and I think it’s so fitting. So thank you again.

Next maybe I should drop some dialogue? I’m not sure yet but I know that being on this platform definitely inspires me.

Back like I never left. Well deserved break. And now I’m really to pump it out or whatever :) <3

I took a break for the weekend. I lived life outside in the beautiful whether w my family. I’ve tried not to think about my WIP all weekend so I could look at it today with fresh eyes.

As far as this app and how much I share on here, I’m not going to let random strangers make me feel uncomfortable. I’m not going to allow myself to feel uncomfortable. Not everyone has to like me or agree with me or care about what I’m doing in my WIP.

I started writing because it was an outlet. That is how I fell in love with writing. This app is where I find my motivation. And I’m not going to let a sour grape keep me from doing what I love.

So hang out or whatever because what information I do drop with be worth knowing 😬😬😬

Thank you to everyone and your kind words and messages. You all reminded me that they’re in a community with being apart of.

I come on here to document my journey. I come on here and brain dump. I come on and ask for opinions and take polls because I appreciate the feedback. I come on here to get inspired or whatever. To talk to other writers hear their experiences and their story as a writer. I think writing is one of those things that it brings like minded people together who might not normally ever speak. I hear as my outlet for writing.

I share was much as I feel comfortable with sharing. And I would never ask anyone to share more than they wanted too.

I don’t want to sound like an asshole by writing this but I write for me. Whether it be my work in progress or writing here on this blog. This is my creative outlet. This is my self care. This is where I thought I would find a community of likeminded people. And I will not be made to feel like I owe someone (that I do not know) anything. That may sound harsh but it’s honest.

Up until this morning I’ve enjoyed coming here and unloading my thoughts. I liked looking through the different tags and learning new things just just about writing but in general. I will be taking a break from this app for a while. Some people are pressed about me and what I’m doing so they feel the need to be rube. It doesn’t make sense. It’s is what it is though. I can’t control how others act, I can only control how I react. And I’m not an argue over the inter type of person. I don’t have the time patients or energy. Also really confused as to why someone cares what a nobody like me is doing. Pressed is I can see.

Im going to take a break for this app.

Its 60°f in the northeast in February. It’s a take the kids to the park and scribble some details out. Maybe brain dump. Organize my thoughts and the random scenes I’ve been writing on the side that I’m sure fit in to my current WIP. I’m just not sure how or where yet.

Hopefully the sunshine and spring like temps will give me the serotonin I need to gather myself.

I prefer to write in the morning. But tonight a during my workout I let my mind wander. It’s a routine I’ve been doing for a while, so it’s mindless at this point. Anyway, I had the overwhelming urge to feverishly scribble out a chapter that somehow belongs to my current WIP. I’m just not sure where yet.

I was scribbling so fast the pencil was lagging in goodnotes 😅

Some of my writer’s block cures:

Handwrite. (If you already are, write in a different coloured pen.)

Write outside or at a different location.

Read.

Look up some writing prompts.

Take a break. Do something different. Comeback to it later.

Write something else. (A different WIP, a poem, a quick short story, etc.)

Find inspiring writing music playlists on YouTube. (Themed music, POV playlists, ambient music, etc.)

Do some character or story prompts/questions to get a better idea of who or what you’re writing.

Word sprints. Set a timer and write as much as you can. Not a lot of time to overthink things.

Set your own goals and deadlines.

Write another scene from your WIP. (You don’t have to write in order.) Write a scene you want to write, or the ending. (You can change it or scrap it if it doesn’t fit into your story later.)

Write a scene for your WIP that you will never post/add to your story. A prologue, a different P.O.V., how your characters would react in a situation that’s not in your story, a flashback, etc.

Write down a bunch of ideas. Things that could happen, thing that will never happen, good things, bad things.

Change the weather (in the story of course.)

Feel free to add your own.
