I am officially 1/3 of my reading goal for this year! I've set a goal of 24 books for this year (I know its not a lot but I'm a college student its the best I can do) I'm really proud of myself for taking up reading again how I used to before. And I want to share that I have a mere 23 books in my shelf! I'm slowly starting back up again yay! I'm trying to resign myself to just buy 1 book per month (its hard) so to make up for it I'm downloading ebooks to read off my tablet/phone. I'm thinking of getting a kindle but I really love physical books!
enough about this~ Have a wonderful night/day and enjoy reading!

The Picture of Dorian Gray // Oscar Wilde
I absolutely loved it, I enjoyed annotating a lot of things. It really captures the subject of 'decay' / 'corruption' really well since it was very realistic/humanistic as I would say it. I fucking hate lord henry, the thoughts and opinions on the book would really get you to stop and take a moment because wtf. As someone who's 20 and feels like time is going way too fast and feels afraid to grow older, this book helped me understand that 'growing old' is something natural and way beyond the physical aging of our body. It is actually my most annotated book because I really enjoyed and related to some of the thoughts and opinions.
Finished Reading: April 12, 2024
Rating: 5/5 ⭐️

My year of rest and relaxation // Ottessa Moshfegh
" This was the beauty of sleep—reality detached itself and appeared in my mind as casually as a movie or a dream"

I just finished reading "My year of rest and relaxation" by Ottessa Moshfesgh
and let me tell you I felt like I was spiraling while reading it and came out renewed.
I was feeling everything and nothing at the same time.
It was so familiar, so uncomfortable, but also liberating.
Be warned though, there is a lot of trigger warnings so proceed with caution, I wasn't expecting it and dove in the book completely blind so I had to confront my mind lol.
It's very heavy book but it was also really funny, there's a-lot of scenes where I had to stop because I was laughing then question her sanity lol.
Would also love to recommend this song, A lot of her song actually fit the vibes of this book so I enjoyed listening to her. This is the best one for this book so far.
"I was growing less and less attached to life. If I kept going, I thought, I'd disappear completely. Then reappear in some new form. This was my hope. This was my dream."

The Six Deaths of The Saint by Alix E. Harrow
If I was asked "Is it worth it?" I would definitely say yes. 5 out of 5 stars.
It is a really short story (like really) I'm talking about less than 30 pages. But despite being that short, It absolutely told the story.
I don't want to give in details since it is an absolutely short read and want other people to discover the contents themselves for the full reading experience but let me tell you this. It is gut-wrenching. I've provided inspiration pics based on my perspective about the book. I am at loss for words to say how this 30-paged story took my heart (and it still has it).
I definitely recommend this book and would love to have discussions about it.
I wish all of you a wonderful reading experience on this book
