Okay, so I watched concrete cowboys a while back, and honestly didn’t love the movie, but I loved Caleb McLaughlin in is, and I told my mom I wished he got more opportunities to show his true acting abilities.

This is not what I meant, this isn’t what I wanted. I did not need to ugly sob and almost hyperventilate as he delivered an Emmy deserving performance. I did not need him trying to calm max down as she died in his arms with El watching from a pizza freezer. And I sure as hell did not need to hear him begged for Erica’s help.

But he killed it. I am not okay after this.

Steve x max (sibling duo)

Type: fluff and angst

Warnings: mentions of death

Max has been a zombie since the fight at star court mall. When billy died a certain light left the young girls eyes. She shut herself off from everyone and refused to open up. She felt completely alone and she had partially done it to herself. Everyone seemed okay with this, everyone but Steve.

They were staying at the school as they feared what vecna would do to max. Deep down Max wishes for vecna to take her so she didn’t have to deal with any of this. So she grabbed a letter and wrote one to all of her friends. All her friends and Steve.

“What are you up to, kiddo?“ Steve asked sitting next to her as she folded his letter.

“I just want to be prepared, incase vecna wins,” she said quietly, holding in tears.

“I’m not going to let vecna hurt you. I promise you that,” Steve said seriously wrapping an arm around her shoulders.

Steve expected her to pull away from him, but instead she leaned into him. Then her small body started to rock with sobs and he tensed up not sure what to do.

“Steve I’m going to die,” she sobbed out the fear overtaking her.

“No your not,” he told her rubbing her shoulder.

“At least I’ll see billy again,” she said without thinking.

Steve pulled away and stared into her eyes,”Max I know that Billy’s death was hard on you. Impossible to cope with, but you don’t have to go the same way he did. I know that no one can ever replace the fact the billy is your brother, but now it’s my responsibility to make sure you have someone to talk to, to lean on.”

The red head nodded her head and started to sob harder. As much as it would kill her to admit it, she looks up to Steve as a brother. And to heard him say he has her back means everything to her.

“Thank you,” she said and hugged him again.

Steve had given her hope again. Maybe, just maybe, she wouldn’t die tomorrow. She wouldn’t visit billy just quite yet. Maybe she didn’t want to die, not yet anyways. Not since she has Steve.

Also note, in this billy was never racist toward Lucas.

“Lucas, can you cover for me?” I asked Lucas at around twelve at night.

“Where are you going?” He asked me looking up from his book.

“Billy’s. I was on the phone with him, then I heard screaming and yelling and he suddenly hung up so I’m going to check on him,” I told my little brother.

“Are you sure it’s safe?” He asked me sitting up.

“Name one thing about the past year that’s been safe. If anything, Billy’s dad will be easier to kill then a demogorgan,” I remind my younger brother.

“Take your revolver please,” Lucas bargained

“Only if you cover for me. Say that Robin is going through a break up and I’m being there for her,” I told him.

“Deal. Have fun, but not to much fun. I want to a wait a few years before I get the title of best uncle ever,” Lucas teased me.

I flipped him off before I leave his room. I go out my window and bike over to Billy’s house. His window is unlocked so I climb in. When I walk in his room I saw Billy laid out on his bed, blood leading to his bed.

“What are you doing here?” He asked sitting up, wincing in pain.

“What the hell happened?” I asked softly walking over to him.

“Get out. We are done!” He snapped at me.

“Nope. Your doing the, I’m billy Hargrove and I don’t want anyone to see my weekend so I push them away,” I say teasing him a bit.

“I don’t do that!” He said angrily.

“Yes you do,” I countered.

He went to yelled again, but I just sat next to him and gently wrapped my arms around him. He tensed up in my arms at first, then slowly he relaxed in my arms.

“He hit me. He always hits me,” billy said quietly.

“I’m sorry, can I do anything,” I asked him softly.

“Can you stay the night?” He asked me.

I nod my head and keep my arms around him.

“When my mom died my dad lost it. I became his scapegoat. Then he married max’s poor mom and he started taking it out on her to. My house is full of screaming and hate,” he mumbled angrily.

I just held onto him tighter.

“I’m afraid to be with you, Y/N,” billy told me.

“Why?”

“I’m afraid I’m going to hurt you, and if I don’t hurt you my family will hurt you and you deserve better. My dad hates black people, he doesn’t know we are dating, and if he finds out he will try and kill you,” he rambled.

“I don’t care billy. I’m dating you because I love you and I know you could never hurt me. And you aren’t responsible for your dad’s decisions,” I reassured him.

“I love you to,” he said and pressed his lips against mine.

I kissed him back before pulling away after a few seconds. He laid back in his bed and I laid beside him. He had me facing the wall and he wrapped his arm around my waist.

“Will your parents care your not home?” He mumbled, his lips next to my ear.

“No, Lucas is covering for me,” I told him.

“Good, I get you all night long,” he said holding me closer to him.

He held me until we both fell asleep. I can’t even pretend to imagine what billy is going through, but at least now he isn’t going through it alone. I love him, and I will make sure nothing ever happens to him.
