Inspirations: Pinstripes Team USA 2024 Sam Wilson concept art for MCU Sam Wilson costumes from the comics

I wanted something that would be angular, dynamic, energetic, and tech-y Sam's not a super soldier, so he's gotta have a lot more up his sleeve

also i didn't feel like redesigning the face because that iteration just works?? I tried giving him a bulkier helmet or something but it looked too dorky when I did it

here’s a prototype I rejected!

I was really looking at Team USA Olympic uniforms and loved the idea of scattered bits of colors like in flyknits

Also feel like the exposed head and goggles are pretty much like a Falcon *requirement* like Spider-Men lenses!

25. Green Arrow

I envisioned a Green Arrow who returns to Star City after some sort of near death/actual death experience a super broke Oliver Queen who is sweaty, gritty, and trying to be the people’s champion while living among them

some of my initial passes of his costume— wanted to stay away from skintight spandex or just permutations of whatever has been done the last couple times liked the idea of looser, less restrictive stuff

He's meant to be very grassroots & a little grittier aesthetically. He's lost his fortune but it doesn't make him angrier or lost, he's finding new ways to still help people and be GREEN ARROW He's helping defend homeless encampments, he's protecting student protests (cough)

for more difficult redesigns I like to think about a story idea that I think would be interesting. Ultimately, I think that if you don't have an interesting take, you can't make a design that would be different enough to matter

If I do a Green Arrow design with different areas of skin showing and moving around what's darker green or light green, I'm not doing much, IMO The Injustice suit is the biggest departure from the usual suits, and that's not even that different

my initial passes (labelled B,C,D) are kind of emblematic of this problem; what kind of story am I visually telling with the design? How is Ollie being challenged? He just looks more casual or his aesthetic is a little changed!

24. Cyclops!

if it aint broke, don’t fix it. made costume around the idea of ‘mutating’ (heh) the krakoa and uncanny suit, while integrating ways to apply cyclops’ abilities

additionally, cyclops has a built in jetpack which utilizes his blasts as a power source
