“As we settle in, he pulls my head down to use his arm as a pillow; the other rests protectively oever me even when he goes to sleep. No one has held me like this in such a long time. Since my father died and I stopped trusting my mother, no one else’s arms have made me feel this safe.”

Happy Ace Awareness Week!
Kicking it off, because it's already the 22nd here 🥳
Tumblr media
Just like potatoes, asexuals come in many different varieties, and guess what?
We're all tasty and valid!
Asexuality is a spectrum, not a fixed point. And if you fall anywhere within that spectrum - you are asexual and YOU ARE VALID.
If you aren't sure what the hell I'm talking about, head on over to The Trevor Project's page about Asexuality. It's a pretty good starting point, with links to further information.
But before you go... please consider reblogging this post to raise Asexual awareness.
And to give an asexual a potato 🥔

Thank you so much to @andretries for this overwhelmingly beautiful commission for Paperwork!
I’ve had a fuzzy picture in my head of the art described in chapter 4 for so long and it is more than I could imagine! The mural on the tall factory pillar gives me Rapunzel vibes. Andrea ran with the concept and this tribute to those of District 12 that were lost is everything!
Click for higher quality and so many details 💚

🍂 FALLing in love again 🍂
Tumblr media
The kids growing back together ♥️ I’ve been working on this piece since the beginning of October, but with how chaotic my life has been, I just didn’t have the time to finish it before Halloween. :(
Today I decided to just finish it before Christmas truly started. So even if I’m a little behind on homework, it was worth it. :) I really hope you like it, guys! Sorry for the lack of happy activity lately, I’m still dealing with things but who knows? Maybe I’ll find both the energy and time to go back to my everlarkish painting fantasies.
Meanwhile, big thanks to all the Everlark writers and artists who are constantly posting drabbles, one shots and more! Your content has kept me alive and has distracted me in my worst moments. It has helped so much!

Eliot revealing that the source of magic is pain was the moment I knew The Magicians wasn’t going to be like other fantasy stories I’d experienced before.
Chris and I discuss this compelling idea and many other elements that are very unique to this series in our new watch-along podcast.

What do you think about magic coming from pain and not talent?

this has been pissing me off since 4th grade
olive skin, thick black hair always kept in a braid, people with her features are impoverished & work in mining while people with light features live in town … what about that says white?

We *had* to do a #SquidGame episode after finishing our Hunger Games read-through! They both are in the Battle Royale genre and deal with capitalist exploitation in bold and compelling ways.
In our special episode on @squidgamenetflix, we have a great time exploring how it depicts ideas of capitalism, exploitation, generosity, agency, and even games themselves.

62 read-along podcast episodes, 1800 tributes, and 1 sewage system discussion over 17 total months!
Our time with the Hunger Games has deeply impacted how we read stories, how we sit with the POVs of side characters, and how defiant we seek to be in this unequal world.

We didn't expect Cressida to become one of our new favorites when we started our read-through podcast, but that's what happened!
Why? Well, going chapter by chapter and sitting with side POVs each week made us realize that she is an amazing example of a true ally. She always takes her cues from Katniss' lead, uses the skills she gained through privilege to work behind the scenes to platform rebel voices, and continually shows up to support rebels and risk her life for a more equitable world.
After reading #THG several times over the years, it's been a joy to finally witness how sensitive, thoughtful, strong, and brave Cressida is.

We've come to the end of our Hunger Games read-through (😭), and unsurprisingly we discuss Katniss quite a lot in the final episode. We have been so happy to hear that some of you found a new love for Katniss during our analysis of the books, because she is *such* a fantastic character.
This fanart by @smoustart is an amazing depiction of #KatnissEverdeen and highlights how young she was during the Games and war. Oh Katniss. 🖤

Swipe to see the POVs we've been exploring the past few weeks in our #Mockingjay read-through!
In the episode that came out this week, one of the perspectives we discussed was Coin and what she was thinking when she made the decision to use the parachute bombs.

If you haven't listened to our #Mockingjay Ch. 22 episode yet, Finnick is truly the focal point – and rightly so. (Gorgeous fanart by @alicexz)
In addition to discussing Finnick’s final moments, we explore Katniss' empathy and vulnerability, cheapening that takes place in capitalism, persons with disabilities in warzones, and the POVs of Finnick, Cressida, Peeta, and even Snow.

We've talked about Johanna many times in our recent #Mockingjay episodes. She's such a fascinating character!

🤔 In what ways do your opinions on #JohannaMason change from Catching Fire to Mockingjay?
