#whomademyclothes (I) Who made my clothes?’ is the slogan of the #fashionrevolution movement, calling a fairer, safer, cleaner and more transparent fashion industry! There were triggered by the @RanaPlaza tragedy of April 2013, where over 1,100 garment workers in Bangladesh were killed and over 2,200 more were wounded. The incident left consumers all over the world questioning who makes the clothes we wear every day and in what kind of conditions? So have you ever wondered who made YOUR clothes? How much they’re paid, and what their lives are like? Much of the global fashion industry can be exploitative and environmentally damaging and desperately needs revolutionary change. But it’s not only the industry itself, that needs to change. How WE think about and consume clothing also needs to change! "As consumers OUR questions, OUR voices, OUR shopping habits can have the power to help change things for the better! We are the driver of trends. Every time we buy something, we’re voting with our wallet. When we speak, brands and governments listen" quote: fashionrevolution website So will you get involved? #ethicallyengaged #greenukum #slowfashion #greendeen #whomademyclothes #sustainablechic #sustainablity #nature #eco #greenquote #bethechange #ethicallyengaged #fairtrade #ethical #buylesschoosewell #fairfashion #greenfashion #ecoandfair #handmade #ethicalfashionblogger #ethicallymade #crueltyfree #ecofriendly #sustainableliving #khalifa

Happy International worker’s day! In solidarity with all the workers of the world who are unnoticed, undervalued, overworked and underpaid, for all those being exploited for profit every day! May we pray for all those workers! And may we stand up and use our voices^ and power to fight for social justice! Remember, God is saying (Hadith Quds): “O my servants! I [God) have forbidden injustice to Myself and have forbidden that for you as well, then do not commit injustice to each other.” #greenukum #greendeen #ecoblog #workerday #labourday #empowerment #mayday #socialjustice #injustice #justice #quran #koran #muslim #muslima #muslimquote #Allah #aya #work #slowfashion #exploitation #eco #standup #empower

@worldwaterday2018 ...and still more than 2.1 billion people lack access to safe drinking water! ・・・ On the occasion of the #worldwaterday, which serves as a reminder of the importance of working together as a global community to protect and preserve our critical aquatic resources, some facts: Did you know, that: 👉 1 in 10 - lack access to safe water. 👉 1 in 3 - lack access to a toilet. 👉 The poorest households are more likely to have access to mobile phones than to toilets or safe water. 👉 4600 liters are needed for one beef steak. Water is a human right! Rather – it should be a right for every (!) living being – this aspect has become so far little attention. The Islamic right of thirst’ (haq al shurb) and therefore the right to water is an Islamic given aspect. Did you know for example that the Ottoman Civil Code includes that everyone –animals involve! – have a right of thirst from public and private rivers? Remember God saying in the Quran (mentoring animals first!): "... and We send down purifying water from the sky, that we may give life thereby to a dead land, and We give many beasts and men that We had created to drink thereof ..." [25:48-49]. Water is provided by God, "... for you and your cattle" [79:33] Let us all raise awareness for this issue: “We never know the worth of water till the well is dry.” ____________ #greenukum #greendeen #deen #sustainablestyle #sustainable #eco #ecological #gogreen #water #wecare #muslimcouple #instacouple #muslima #hijab #hijabers #ecoliving #savewater #saveearth #savetrees #trees #quran #spirituality #nature #ocean #safewater #quotes #quoteoftheday #instaquotes #drop4drop

“Buy less, choose well, make it last. Quality rather than quantity. That is true sustainability!” (Vivienne Westwood!) ‘Cause every time you spend money, you’re casting a vote for the kind of world YOU want! So today it is even more important than ever to support brands who stands for ethical standards like sustainability, slow-fashion, fair, eco, etc. We recognized that we have a lot of requests from you guys who want to know which brands are ethical good and where to buy them etc. That’s why we decided to support with our blog in future more brands, who are standing for those standards. But be sure we won’t spam your Instagram dashboard full of brands. Instead we want to show you the values and the idea behind the brand. And in some cases, even the founder and their motivation to create an ethical brand. We’ll start with @zamzamzalila, a modest fashion brand that try to make fashion, that meets the high requirements in terms of quality & ethics to move away from fast fashion that only lasts one season! At the moment, the designer behind zamzamzalilia is working on an amazing upcycling collection for which she only used second hand scarves! Be prepared for the first interview!!! #greenukum #greendeen #greenblog #eco #conciusness #ecofriendly #environmental #hijab #hijabi #hijabiblogger #modesthijabstyle #hijabfashion #hijabstyle_lookbook #modesty #muslimahapparelthings #muslimchamber #modestroute #muslim #muslimblogger #nature #ecolove #buyclean #quality #sustainablefashion

It’s easy to recycle glass jars, but it’s better to reuse them as this reduces energy and resources used in the recycling process, instead of buying new ones. We love to use our glass jars as storage containers, to freeze food leftovers or to contain homemade jam for family and friends ❤ #greenukum #zerowaste #reuse #recycle #replace #noplastic #unverpackt #glassjars #jars #natural #muslimblog #ecoblog #blessed #food #trashfree #minimalism #cooking #jam #container #energy

Just in love with our sustainable toothbrushes by #hydrophil ❤ They’re made from fast-growing bamboo with bristles made of Nylon. And finally we’re trying for the first time a plasticfree dental powder instead of toothpaste. A scarf, that is - #organic, - #fairtrade, - #handmade, - #made by a women’s initiative, - #support refugees and - absoluty good #designed … will never exist? Wrong! Thanks to @almarascaves it does exist. I really have spent a long time looking for something like this and sooo thankful that I came across with the IG-Page! Absolutely in love with these qualitative scarves. 💚 That's what we mean by saying “quality instead of quantity”. (And also in love with the warm hearted woman behind this social slow-fashion business)! Go and support her wonderful work! 💚❤️💚 👉🏼 @almarascarves #greenukum #greenfashion #sustainable #ecofashion #fair #womensinitiative #hijab #ethical #concious #slowfashion #fashionrevolution #scarves #morocco #vegan #crueltyfree #ecoblog #eco #bismillah #hijabi #hijabfashion #hijabtutorial #hijabista #hijabers

'Cause less a always more! Trying to live a minimalistic life is still one of the hardest thing we’re struggling with today, while trying to follow the concept of having the dunya in our hand, but not in our heart. The month of Ramadan help us to follow this concept in a better way, as we train ourselves in abstinence from the necessities of life for part of a day through the month. This mental and spiritual attitude –zuhd (the Islamic concept of minimalism) is a necessary instrument for us to fight off the onslaughts of materialism. So simplify your life! Invest more, consume less: Spread the simplicity message. Simplify your wardrobe Buy less, choose well! Since we’re trying to live a more minimalistic life, we’re trying to reduce our things at home. When we started minimalizing our home, we donated four garbage bags full of clothes, realizing that we’re still having too much! Since Ramadan is the perfect time to start to reduce (checkout last blogpost), we tried to simplify again our wardrobe. How to simplify your wardrobe?! Here are some great tips by Courtney (@bemorewithless): Empty your closet and put everything on the bed. This ensures that the project is done before the end of the day!
Next step, ask the following questions for each and every piece: • Does it fit? Not, does it fit in five days or five pounds, but does it fit right now? • Do I love it? • Is it in good condition? - Does it speak to my be more with less lifestyle? What did you give up? Was it the pair of jeans that you have been trying to zip since high school, the high school t-shirt that always brings great memories but is too ratty to wear in public, or that awful patterned shirt you bought, because it was on sale, and was too good a deal to pass up? Then analyze what you have left and Assess Your Needs. Repeat it twice a year. This all comes back to feeling joyful, so wear things that let you feel good! #greenukum #ramadanukum #simplify #minimalism #zuhd #ramadan #ramadan2017 #blessed #muslim #productivemuslim #sufi #consumerism #minimalist #givingup #dunya #traveller #muhammad #prophetmuhammad #iftar #faith #simplicity #nature #simple #lessismore #reduce

good to be home ❤ (even when it is just for a day like this week) Given that I am working actually in Frankfurt while Asmaa is working 300 km away in Munster (were our home is actually), we’re often on the go in the last months. When I was younger, I often dreamed of a job in which I’m always on the way, travelling, meet people everywhere and many more. Everything I want to have at these days, especially because of Ramadan, is a place, where nothing changes. Where everything looks the same and feel the same. Yeah - even smells the same. Ramadan-time is Minimalism-time (arabic: #zuhd): Trying the concept of Zuhd as an anti-dote to consumerism culture! Before being aware for environmental issues and zero waste, we used to have tons of products in the bathroom (and still have some leftovers): Shampoos, conditioner, shower gels with different scents, body scrub and different cleaning products and masks for the face. We almost replace all of this stuff with #alepposoap, which we’re using for our body, face and hands. I’m (Asma) also love to use it for my hair. After an adjustment period my hair get very good used to it and feels MUCH healthier. After washing it, proceed to rinse the scalp with a solution of water and apple vinegar, which carries the pH at optimal levels. About Aleppo soap: It is a natural hard soap made using an old traditional method and obviously no colorants, preservatives, chemical-free, cheap fillers and almost #plasticfree! This soap’s ingredients are olive oil and lavender oil. (if you do not want to use hard soap, there are a lot of possibilities to make your own liquid form with it! ;) #greenukum #aleppo #alepposoap #organic #oliveoilsoap #oliveoil #olive #oil #naturalproduct #handmade #healty #natural #naturalbeautysavoir #skincare #bio #lavendert #thinkgreen #ramadan #bismillah #zerowaste #nopackaging #healthcare #nopoo

Take part in the: ZERO WASTE IFTAR CHALLENGE! Thanks to @memagics 💚 ___________________________________ #repost: @memagics:The trash I made by cooking #iftar for 6 tonight, two rubber straps from our weekly veggies provider which I will return for them to reuse. ABOUT THE CHALLENGE: Giving that Ramadan is the month of blessings, I’d like to propose to actively think of one blessing that is far too little thought about: our beautiful Planet Earth. We all know we are living in a time where environmental crises have reached a level they never had before in history. But let’s not talk about it, but do something! Here’s the plan: a Zero Waste Iftar Challenge! Whoop whoop!! How does it work: 1. PLAN YOUR MEAL! Think of healthy dishes you can cook with ingredients you can purchase loose and without ANY packaging- no paper, no glas (except for those you can return or reuse), no aluminium can, and of course no plastic. Also don’t prepare too much food- food waste ist the worse waste!! And let’s be honest- most of us can’t move after dates and soup! 2. PREPARE FOR SHOPPING! Make a list of what you need to buy. Prepare containers, Tupper, jars, tanks etc. for smaller things like olives, dates, cheese and meat; cloth bags for mushrooms, grains, lentils… Put it all in a big shopping tote and 3. GO SHOPPING IN A ORGANIC GROCERY STORE! Quality over quantity (remember the after-dates-and-soup-feeling!)!! Purchase everything you can loose. For cheese, meat and antipasti hit the counter. The staff behind the counter is mostly very kind and professional about putting products in brought containers! Don’t forget to smile and thank them! 4. COOK! Try to use as less energy and water as possible- you can use the same boiling water for several dishes. Meanwhile enjoy your favorite Qur’an recording. 5. BISMILLAH and BON APPETIT!! Don’t offer single use dishes or paper towels. Your favorite people will hit the bathroom when hands are dirty. 6. SPREAD THE WORD! Make a picture of the trash you made OR your fingers making a zero, copy-paste this text, post it on social media with the hashtag #zerowasteiftarchallenge and TAG at least three people you want to challenge!

God’s Creation and Trash! #ChickCulling: The process of killing newly hatched poultry for which the industry has no use for, because they don’t lay eggs. Every single year around 250.000.000 male baby chicks are ground alive or suffocated because they are not economically viable #CapialismOnTheRise So at least (!) buy eggs which are from local farmers who’re stopping the discarding of male chicks in raising them, too.
