staying hydrated
staying hydrated starts with water. yes, you can drink matcha, coffee, and other drinks to stay hydrated because they have water in them, but you should be drinking water! your body needs water. water is an essential!
drinking water can:
- flushes toxins out of our bodies
- used to help your brain function properly
- controls body temperature
- protects you from heat stroke
- aids nutrient absorbancd
- promotes digestion
- maintains a glowy complexion
- fights sickness
-improves mood
-boosts energy
every body needs a different amount of water each day. depending on your age, height, weight, and more, your body will need a different amount of water daily than anyone someone else. i use an app to track my daily water intake. it’s called water reminder and it calculates how much water you will need to drink daily and if you would like, also send you notifications whenever you think is appropriate to be reminded to drink water!
although you should be drinking lots of water daily, sometimes it can be hard to remember or try to drink more water. here are some of my favorite ways to drink more water:
1. holding a cup/bottle in your hand or carrying water with you. if you’re holding water, you’ll find yourself drinking it. it’s just how your brain works! this works especially well if you’re stressed out or anxious.
2. using a water tracking app. i like the app i use which is called water reminder because it has a calculator to calculate how much water you should drink, a tracker, and reminders via notifications!!
3. adding flavor to your water. personally, i don’t do this one, but it can certainly help! i recommend mio or prink mix packets. they both come in many, many different flavors. they’re also really tasty depending on which ones you buy!
4. storing water bottles in the refrigerator/freezer or adding ice to your water. this one has helped me so much!!! whenever your drink water, you can look forward to ice cold, refreshing water. it’s one of my favorite things. i like to put my water in the freezer until it fully freezes, and then letting it thaw so then there is a big ice cube in the middle of your water bottle. so now you have cold water with ice, and when you run out, you can refill the bottle and have more cold water with ice!
5. investing in a gallon jug. a gallon jug of water can help keep you hydrated throughout the day by having all of your day’s water in one place. bonus points if you store it in your refrigerator!
but whatever you do, don’t forget to stay hydrated my loves!

sleep and it’s importantance
sleep is so so so important for many reason. it is essential for our bodies to get sufficient amount of sleep. quality sleep positively affects your:
mind
- thinking clearly and effeciently
- get along with people better
- better memory
- more creative thinking
- statistically better grades
-improved mood
body
- regulates appetite
- helps keep you at a healthy weight
- little to no dark circles
- boosts blood flow around the body leading to a glowier, alive complexion
- promotes growth for younger people
health
- improves excercise performance, leading to a many things (healthier body, organs, brain function, etc…)
- get sick less often
- lowers risks for contracting other diseases
-boosts blood flow around your body
how much sleep should i get?
your body needs at least 8 hours of sleep per night to function.
tips for sleeping:
1. avoid screens for one hour before you fall asleep (substitute screens for skincare, baths/showers, read a book)
2. try light-moderate exercise before bed. this will make you more tired and improve sleep quality
3. make your room super dark. as dark as possible. your body has photoreceptors on your skin that sense light, so any light in your room will make your body’s circadian rhythm will think it’s daytime and make your sleep lighter of wake you up.
4. get a good sleep schedule that works for you. i recommend doing this by setting your schedule up in the health app on your phone (apple) or setting an alarm to wake up (android). to find a sleep schedule that works for you, try to work from when you have to be at school/work and figure how much time it takes for you to get ready and get there, then subtract a little more time than how much time it takes to get your out the door. from them, set a goal for how many hours of sleep you want to get each night and use that to find the right sleep schedule for you.
5. don’t nap during the day. if you’re tired, plan on going to sleep earlier. napping during the day will give you more energy for later when you’re supposed to be asleep and ruin your sleep schedule.
6. make your room easier to sleep in. make sure the temperature, air quality, bedding, pajamas, noise, and the environment in general are comfortable to sleep in.
never forget about beauty sleep. it’s an essential that is overlooked. sweet dreams!
