People wonder why Trump’s bigotry doesn’t disqualify him from being President. Don’t delude yourselves: this is what the U.S.A. is, what it believes, what it has stood for throughout its history. We are living on stolen land, and we don’t deserve grace. I have no pride in where I live. I don’t think of myself as an American and never have. This country is rotten, and we can’t go back to the comforting lie that it’s somehow better than this. We have to fight the idea, the entire ideology of this country, if we’re ever going to create a better world. I don’t believe in borders. I believe we are all siblings. I believe that our ability to love, support, and save each other will come out and keep us alive well after our individualist conception of society is reduced to rubble.
