People like to point to the visual parallels between John and Steve in this scene with the way they used the shield, but can we talk about the so-called hero obsessively trying to behead an innocent man who wasn't actually responsible for the death of a loved one that sent him into this blind rage? Because that looks real familiar....

Just because the camera kept cutting to Tony making a sad face whenever Steve stopped him from commiting brutal murder doesn't mean it was any less horrific and boy does it get glossed over way too often.

i know this post is old, but screw it i dont really care. i read this amazing team red fic where tony being an a$$hole is a plot point, but not the whole story. I wish there were more anti-Tony fics. Or simply fics where Tony is not portrayed as a benefactor of the avengers. Because he's not. I'm tired of fics always licking his boots.

God, me too. There are a couple good bashing fics on ao3, but personally I prefer longer, more coherent stuff where the focus is more on plot and less on the bashing. Just, some fics were Tony simply isn't right would be nice. There are fics that qualify, but mostly they have him be wrong and then make a ton of excuses, just like the movies to. Typical stan culture. One of the last marvel fics I read, which had stony as a side ship, was partly about Steve being angry at Tony for keeping secrets from him and acting recklessly. So how did the the author resolve this issue? By having Tony keep secrets and making reckless decisions (he secretly changed the Avangers base from the tower to the compound, which was then revealed to be exactly what Steve had wanted all along? The fuck???). Well done, I could have strangled Tony when I read it and was flummoxed when Steve immediately forgave him. Because that's how people see Tony I guess. He makes bad decisions but it's fine as long as they were the right bad decisions smh

Sorry this seems to have turned into a personal rant. Maybe we can start gathering some good anti Tony fics in the reblogs, if anyone wants to share. I haven't read any lately, but I remember Tony Uwu written by UnknownUnseenUnheard and You Could Make a Case for That by Gibbs_yeah very fondly. And now looking through the "Not Tony Stark Friendly” tag on ao3 I see a lot of newer stuff by Cornholio4 that I really need to check out (a Miraculous Ladybug crossover? lol)...
