So I do this thing sometimes when I'm messing around with the freecam where I position the camera inside of the character model's head and literally look out from their eyes -- just to see what they're seeing in this scene/moment.
And Ashley's POV during the pep talk scene sure is... something.

SILENCE (PROLOGUE)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
SYNPOSIS: The state of stillness has always been your preferred companion, a source of solace and tranquility that offered respite from the discordant nature of life. Nonetheless, despite your prolonged state of comfort with silence, you never could have fathomed how a single individual could alter your perception of silence. Levi Ackerman, in particular, has caused you to realize that not all silences are reassuring and secure, and that sometimes, they can be disquieting and overwhelming. You have discovered a new sanctuary in him, even though he may not be aware of it.

Silence,
Is a peaceful state of solace, where I can find comfort and reassurance in the mere absence of noise. It is as if in this stillness, I feel at one with my surroundings, and it is in this state that I can truly connect with myself.
I find serenity and safety in silence, as it becomes a place where I can truly be myself and embrace the moments of solitude in which I can reflect and contemplate without the distraction of noise or distraction.
Silence is peaceful, so soothing it makes my body dance along with the cold breeze. In a way — the mere presence of such could make me at peace almost instantly. It’s all that I had to describe ever since I was young. It has been my sweet haven.
Yet… in his presence with my dearly sweet haven — I felt a sudden sensation of suffocation. My body becomes numb, and it becomes unknown to me how to breathe. The mere word of silence I had used to know became a stranger to me at that moment.
That very moment you sat beside me by the edges of the tall tower without uttering any words.
I couldn't help but start to wonder what his true intentions were towards me. He had always been a mystery, with his silent approach and actions, and the small interactions between us where our eyes met but neither of us spoke. Even in moments when I was on the brink of death, he would always be there to rescue me, yet I still couldn't discern his motives.
Will it always be like this? Us, sitting side by side in silence? It’s been suffocating me for a while now. And I didn’t like it, not one bit.
Please say something.
Are you mute?
Sure you are cold as the winter and wouldn't talk when it is necessary — but, surely there's an exception?
Well, this is getting a lot awkward...
Fuck, why are you even here if you aren’t talking to me?
You're wasting your time — you're wasting my time.
Just then, by some miracle it is — he spoke.
“Penny for your thoughts?” Captain Levi said beside me, asked rather unsurely. The sound of his voice caught me off guard, and I turned to look at him with a mixture of surprise and amusement. It was as if he was asking such a critical question.
‘So he does speak…’ I thought with an amused smile forming on my lips.
“Hm, never thought you would actually talk to me — Captain,” I said teasingly, my eyes were only trained on him as I observed him like a hawk.
"I thought you were quite comfortable with silence," Captain Levi replied in a low voice, his words dripping with sarcasm. His piercing dull gray eyes stared directly at me with an intensity that made me shiver even though I was sitting next to him in utter silence.
"I was waiting to see how long it would take before you gave in to your need to fill the silence with meaningless chatter, just like everyone else. It seemed like you were the perfect candidate to test my patience." His statement left me by surprise, who knew this cold-hearted Captain could be so talkative?
“Well then, I’m honored to be accepted as high as your expectations can be.” His unexpected willingness to engage in conversation left me intrigued and wanting to know more about this man.
The raven-haired man tilted his head in thought as a faint smile played at the corners of his mouth, and he let out a soft chuckle.
That’s new, I thought. It might take a whole lifetime just to hear him laugh — or maybe when pigs start flying. Oh, that smile...
“Interesting..." he murmured, his gaze shifting to a more neutral expression as he pondered.
It seemed that he was enjoying our small interaction. "I suppose you have earned my attention," the raven-haired man replied, his voice a low and soothing tone that was in contrast to his bluntness a moment prior.
I let out a light hum in response to Levi's comment, feeling a playful smirk form on my lips as I looked at him with glinting eyes. "Am I really that special to have caught your attention then?" I said in a sing-song tone, teasing him lightly. Of course, I was only joking around; I didn't think of myself as being particularly special in any way. At least, not compared to some of the other people I knew.
To my surprise, Levi mumbled something in response to my teasing comment. I had to strain to hear him properly, but I caught the words nonetheless. "Maybe," he said softly, his eyes darting briefly away from mine before returning to meet my gaze. Something about the way he said it caught me off guard; Levi was known for being serious and focused, never one to make jokes or play around.
So what did he mean by that? I couldn't help but wonder as I looked at him curiously, trying to read the expression on his face. Was he just playing along with my teasing, or was there something more to his comment? Despite my curiosity, I decided not to push the issue; I didn't want to make things awkward between us. Instead, I simply smiled and shrugged, letting the moment pass.
As I looked up to the sky, my eyes were immediately drawn to the twinkling stars scattered across the dark canvas. It was a breathtaking sight that left me mesmerized. The moon, in all its glory, shone brightly, casting a soft glow over everything below. I felt a sense of peace and tranquility wash over me as I took in the stunning view. The tower where I was sitting proved to be the perfect vantage point for stargazing. I couldn't help but feel grateful for this moment, and I smiled widely as I pulled my legs towards my chest, embracing them tightly with my arms. With my chin resting on my knee, I closed my eyes and savored the chilly breeze that enveloped me. The stillness of the night, the serene atmosphere, and the stunning scenery all worked together to create an ambiance of pure bliss. Everything was so calming and peaceful that it felt like time had stopped just for me.
Suddenly, the thought of having someone to accompany me at this kind of moment is still uncertain to me, a stranger, but the idea of having him with me — it’s the closest thing that I could ever say that is perfect.
As I let out a soft sigh, I turned my head towards my companion who was sitting beside me. To my surprise, he was already looking at me with an inscrutable expression.
My heart skipped a beat at that moment, and I couldn't help but take this opportunity to study his features. His hair looked so soft, and the way it fell over his forehead was simply breathtaking. And those piercing eyes — they looked so mesmerizing under the moonlight, like two shining stars in the night sky. His face was nothing short of perfection, with sharp features and his jawline that could make anyone weak in the knees. And don't even get me started on his lips — they looked so full and inviting, like they were just waiting for someone to kiss them. Every inch of him was like a work of art, and I couldn't help but feel captivated by his beauty. He was like a dream come true, and I couldn't believe that I was lucky enough to be sitting here, next to him, under the starry sky.
As I pondered over my thoughts, Captain Levi quite amused me. Though he is a stranger to me and I don't know much about him, there is something that draws me towards him. It could be his striking looks that leave me spellbound, or maybe it's the flaws that make him more human in my eyes. However, it's not just his appearance that intrigues me; it's the way he carries himself that leaves a lasting impression. His determination to bring peace to the chaotic world we live in is something that I find remarkable. Amidst all the chaos and turmoil, his unwavering spirit to make a change is truly inspiring. I can't help but be drawn to him, wondering what makes him so resolute and steadfast in his beliefs.
I couldn't stop staring at him, I might've been looking like a bobbing fish in front of him. Nevertheless, I didn't care at all.
All I could only think about was him.

“Wake up!”
The sound of a sudden shout pierced through the silence of the room, causing me to jolt and gasp for air. I felt a cold sweat dripping down my forehead, or perhaps it was my neck. It felt as if someone had just poured a bucket of cold water over my entire body. My heart was racing, and I felt as if it was trying to escape out of my chest. The pain was unbearable.
I blinked rapidly, trying to adjust to the sudden wake-up call. My eyes landed on the face of a boy with blonde hair and blue eyes. He yelled my name, and I was not happy about it. It was not the best way to start the morning.
I muttered in a groggy voice, "Oh for heaven's sake..." as I sat up on my bed, shooting him a side glare. What could he possibly want at this ungodly hour? The sun had not even risen yet, and it felt like it was still the middle of the night. The only source of light in the room was a small candle on my side table, which had probably been lit not long ago.
Zeke chuckled before backing away from my bed, perhaps sensing that I might hit him if he stayed near my presence longer. Giving him a hell of a punch in the crotch sounds quite tempting.
“The sun isn’t at its peak yet, asshole — what do you want?” I clicked my tongue in annoyance and stretched my limbs, hearing a satisfying crack that made me let out a soft groan.
“Well, first of all. Good morning to you—”
“Oh hell with the morning and get a move on already will you?”
“Of course, of course! Such an impatient individual as usual.” He mumbled the last part which made me harden my glare at him. Zeke's shoes tapped on the wooden planks of my bedroom floor. He cleared his throat before speaking in a professional-like tone, "The commander and the other superiors are requesting your presence for a meeting."
I raised an eyebrow. "Is it a request or a demand?"
As quick as a bullet can shoot — Zeke answered quickly, "You know how they are. Yes, you are being demanded to head to the headquarters immediately."
I let out a low, rumbling hum as I stifled a yawn, my eyebrows curling slightly in response. "Good morning indeed," I muttered under my breath, my voice still thick with sleep.
Zeke walks towards my bedroom door and lets out a soft chuckle from the doorway. "Wouldn't agree more," he replied, his tone light and teasing. "Best that you start getting ready before they start sending you another stack of paper works. We wouldn't want that now, do we?"
I sighed heavily, pushing back the covers and sitting up in bed. "No need to remind me," I grumbled, rubbing my eyes and yawning once more.
As Zeke turned to leave the room, he paused and looked back at me, a concerned expression on his face. "You were mumbling in your sleep, again," he said, his voice soft and gentle.
I felt a pang of annoyance at his words. I hated how he seemed to know everything about me, even the things I couldn't remember myself. "I didn't say anything important, did I?" I asked, my tone defensive.
Zeke shook his head, his expression sympathetic. "No, nothing important," he assured me. "Just some strange muttering, like you were talking to someone in your dream."
I frowned, feeling a sense of unease. I couldn't remember the dream, but I knew it must have been unsettling if it had made me talk in my sleep. "Thanks for letting me know," I said, my voice flat.
Zeke hesitated for a moment, then turned and left the room, closing the door behind him. As I sat in the silence, I felt a familiar sense of anxiety wash over me. Why did I keep having these strange dreams that I couldn't remember? What was my subconscious trying to tell me?
I lay back down on the bed, staring up at the ceiling as I tried to piece together the fragments of the dream. All I could remember were those piercing gray eyes and the word "Captain." It was maddening, not being able to remember more.
With a frustrated sigh, I got up and started getting ready for the day, hoping that the mundane tasks of work would help push the dream from my mind. But as I went through the motions, a nagging feeling stayed with me, like there was something important that I was missing.
═══ஓ๑♡๑ஓ═══
As I walked through the doorway into the meeting room, the stern expression on my commander's face immediately caught my attention. "You are late yet again, Ms. [L/n] This is the third time this week," he spoke, his voice heavy with frustration and annoyance.
"We have had this discussion many times, [Y/n]. As a Marleyan soldier, you are expected to act accordingly," he spoke sternly. I clicked my tongue in response and walked towards the nearest occupied seat in the meeting room. I could see Zeke stifling a laugh as he tried to keep his composure. That monkey always found me funny.
As soon as I slumped down in my seat, Commander Müller cleared his throat and curled his fingers together on top of the soaked table, indicating that this meeting was going to be a serious one.
Commander Müller looked around the room, making eye contact with everyone before speaking. "As you all may have known, we've been known for having the dominance and the power to finish a war in its end. The amount of power we hold is like no other, we have the most valuable weapons on our side. Our titan shifters," he said, looking over to the side of the round table where we had our "weapons" sitting. As soon as the Commander looked at them, they immediately straightened up their postures and gave him a determined look.
I was confused by the suddenness of this meeting and the topic that was brought up. What was Commander Müller getting at exactly? What was his intention? Before I could even formulate a question, the wrinkled man hardened his gaze and took a deep breath. “Let us cut to the chase—” He muttered.
"We are to retake the founding titan," he said, causing the room to erupt into shouting and yapping. I couldn't even comprehend what was going on. Retake the founder? What the hell?
"But sir, the founding titan!?”
"How the hell are we going to retrieve it when we have the weapons we need!?"
"This is nonsense! You must be kidding—"
"Enough!" Commander Müller's voice boomed, and the room fell silent. I could only stare at my superiors with wide eyes as my heart hammered in my chest.
"All of these have been planned out, there is no time for backing out now. We have to get what's rightfully ours," Commander Müller said, his voice heavy with determination. My nervousness increased. What was he planning to do?
Just then, Commander Müller's piercing gaze met mine, and my heart skipped a beat. "And you, [Y/n] [L/n], will be the key to our success," he said, making me squirm in my seat. I could feel everyone's gaze turning to me with wide eyes as my expression reflected the same.
As I tried to speak, my voice came out as a stuttered and shaky whisper. My heart was racing so fast that it felt like it would burst out of my chest any moment. Beads of sweat had already formed on my forehead, and now they were trickling down my face, adding to the growing sense of unease that had taken over my body. I was struggling to keep my composure, but the fear was too overwhelming.
As Commander Müller spoke, his words began to slowly sink in like a fucking dagger digging into my chest. "You are to retrieve the founder between our grasp. [Y/n], you are the hope of this nation. We entrust this mission in your hands," he said, his voice carrying a weight of urgency and importance that made my heart race. The task at hand was monumental - retrieving the founder was a mission of utmost importance, one that could make or break the future of the nation. As the gravity of the situation began to fully dawn on me, the weight of the responsibility felt like a physical burden on my shoulders, one that threatened to overwhelm me. But there was no time to hesitate or doubt myself - I had been chosen for this mission, and the fate of the nation rested on my success.
What have I gotten myself into?

Regardless of your opinions on the AoT finale, in terms of character conclusions...Levi got the best one.
And I will die on that hill. Him living on and giving back to the world he fought for is more impactful for me than sacrificing himself. That is what makes him humanity’s strongest soldier.

★ Leon Kennedy x Fem! Reader
★ Warning : Swearing, Use of weapon, Suicidal thoughts, and Death.
★ Word count : 3.5K
★ Summary : You have no other reasons to live. (Inspired by a k-drama series called Squid game.)
The ending was a bit in a rush, so I do hope you would understand that the writing looked like as if it has been mixed up so bad huhu. English isn’t my mother tongue so please mind the grammar and spelling errors!

You never thought that you were this stupid, you never thought you would be paying your life for money, in a way, to achieve such a thing is to play fucking games. Fuck, how can you be so stupid really?
There you are, standing amongst these hungry yet eager people who yearn for wealth. You couldn't blame them though, everyone needed the money, it's their everything. People did say that money makes you happy, right? It can solve whatever problem they're going through, and you're one of them, yet you don't even know the full reason for it.
You were merely… bored. It’s fucking shitty really, you never had thought of this thoroughly. You were scared, terrified even. A quick click of a gun in your head will kill you instantly if you were to lose in a game. That even deepened the cut of your fear further.
Yet, why did you feel so… excited?
The thought of winning surely makes you feel powerful, the chances of winning are slim but who knows? Maybe you got the chance to, or maybe not.
But, hearing the word dying looked so pleasing, a beautiful melody in your ears, God, you sounded like a maniac. Maybe you were just bored out of your mind, maybe it’s because you were getting tired of everything so you wanted to end things. Or maybe, you were just really just mad, a fucking person out of her mind.
It has been a few days since the games started, and you were quite surprised that you've reached this far. Yes, you were alive, and well.
And in those days you didn't talk to anyone, you had just kept your mouth shut the entire time. Watching as every other player gets shot in the head, Oh when will it be your turn? Seeing them get killed by these little red-riding hooded maniacs killing them makes you want to do the same thing. Get the gun, shoot yourself in the head. It's been tempting you really. You can easily do that, yet, there is no thrill in it. You wanted some fun. So you continued, playing with their silly little games.
You sat in the very corner of the white-lighted room as your ears perked up at the sound of a familiar voice. The same man who had brought you here. You could've killed him right then and there, but hey, you get a free pass to get killed right? That's good enough for him to live.
“A partner…” You whispered as you clutched your knees against your chest. How in the hell will you —
“[Y/n].” Someone called out amongst the crowd. Your eyes widen slightly as you see a blonde man walking towards you with an emotionless look on his face. Right, it was just Leon. Sure you’ve said that you didn’t talk to anyone from the very start of the games, but you didn’t mention that you've never done so.
“Want to be my partner?” Leon asked, his hands clenching inside his pockets as he looked over to you with hope in his eyes.
You were silent for a moment as you thought it through. You’ve talked to him a few other times, and even had a quick brief of therapy session time with him. You hated to admit it, but you did quite enjoy his company. He is very interesting, he intrigues you so much. And it made you want to know him more.
“Yeah, sure, why not?” You murmured as you slowly stood up from the ground and patted your dark teal jogging pants lightly, dusting an unnoticeable speck of dust. You notice how a soft smile graces Leon’s lips after hearing your response, but is quickly washed away as soon as your eyes meet. He didn't say anything and just stood there in silence before he took a step and stood beside you.
Blinking at his action, you tore your eyes away from him for a brief moment to look around the area. People seemed to find their partners, except one. They started to trash around as the men in black masks dragged them away with them, their screams made your ears ring slightly at their screeching voices that filled in the air.
You could sense Leon’s body tensed beside you, while you, on the other hand, didn't seem to be that fazed about the whole ordeal.
The two of you stood there in silence, it wasn't awkward, not so heated either. It was calm, and comforting, a kind of feeling you have yearned for so long. You couldn't describe why you feel like this, it's not like you're complaining though.
Just then, you heard a man's voice again through the speakers. Saying that the game has begun yet again.
Your eyes wander around the room for a moment, seemingly uninterested as to what the man is saying next. Then your eyes met those beautiful blue orbs. Your heart skips a bit as Leon’s eyes are pinned at you, has he been looking at you for a while?
“Are you okay?” He asked with a concerned tone lingering in his voice. You didn't answer quickly, contemplating whether to answer him truthfully or whatever. But decided to just simply give him a nod for an answer.
Leon fell uneased at the lack of response, though didn't question it. He was worried truly, but the man himself couldn't muster up the courage to even say anything to be comforted. How can he when he's having the same struggle as you do?
Your eyes suddenly darted in front of the crowd as everyone crowded around the room. You heard the speaker ring, an indication that another game will now begin. You stood in your good posture, your ears sharp as you listened to the man speaking through the large speakers.
“You may now all head inside.” He announced as the white doors finally opened, you could take a glimpse from the other side as you stood on tiptoes. There were houses? A neighborhood of some kind. You blink before you glance towards Leon who is looking at the same scenery.
“Let's go?” You asked, your hand hesitantly lifting as you reached out your hand towards him. His blue, ocean-like eyes looked at your hand before at you.
“Do you think… we will win?” He asked as people started to walk out of the room along with their partners. His question made you think for a brief moment, though you didn't hesitate to answer.
“We will, I'll make sure of it.” You smiled reassuringly before grabbing onto his hand without even giving it a second thought. His hands are warm, you could feel it emitting as your hands intertwined. The two of you walked out of the room along with the other players, hand in hand with a blazing heart. Despite all the idea of dying and killing yourself, you somehow find yourself wanting to win this round — alive.
“All players, follow the instructions from staff and go to your positions.” A man spoke through the speakers yet again. His voice has been sickening you this long, it was calm, too calm that's out of your liking. Did dying really bring much of a happiness and thrill to them as well? They might have just started killing themselves at this point because they are insanely out of their minds.
Leon’s gaze fell over you as a circular masked man walked up to the both of you, waiting for you both to follow him. You and Leon shared a look before following the red-hooded man who was clutching onto a gun, strapped over his boarded shoulder.
Just then, the man stopped in his tracks making your eyes stop wandering around the neighborhood that you're currently standing in. Your hand slipped away from Leon, feeling suddenly uneased by the tension around the air. You suddenly felt sick in the bottom of your stomach, something was not right.
“Please take one pouch each. There are ten marbles in each pouch, please check how many there are.” The hooded man then lifted his hands, revealing the ouch that has been instructed to be given to you. You cautiously raised your hand and took the pouch out of his hand while Leon made the same motion. Carefully pulling the strings as it went to a loss, pinching the ends of the small fabric as you took a tiny peek inside the pouch, there are at least 10 marbles inside the pouch, as they have said.
Now that you have taken a better look at them, you feel a sudden excitement wash over you. This reminds you of your childhood, the marbles, they were a fan favorite game by many other children a long time ago. This should be easy, right?
A smile crept up to your lips as you looked over to your partner, seeing him also smiling while looking down at his pouch of marbles. His eyes then wandered over to you as well. Yeah, this will be easy —
“In this game, use your ten marbles to compete with your partner next to you.”
Your smile washed away instantly at this.
“The player who takes all ten marbles from their partner wins.”
‘What the hell…?’ A bead of sweat rolls down your forehead while you stare at Leon with wide eyes. Him, sharing the same expression as your heart beat so quickly.
“Leon…” His name rolls over your tongue like a melody in his ears. You could see his hand gripping the pouch so tightly, he was upset, angry, in rage.
“Fuck…”
Tumblr media
The two of you sat, side by side over the concrete stairs. Silence filled the air as you fiddled with the pouch loosely. You were still in shock, what the hell are you going to do now?
Your eyes travel over to Leon who's facing his head downward, the two of you haven't spoken when the round has started. Blinking as you then look over to the masked man who is standing not far from your reach. There's only a few minutes left before everything comes to an end. You both can't die here, someone has to step up and win this round. You weren't going to debate whether it should be Leon to die, it was clearly your turn to end things here once and for all.
“Have you already thought about what game we should play?” You asked rather bluntly. Leon’s body stiffened at your question.
“You mean… we’re actually going to play?” His eyes widen as he turns his head to look at you in disbelief.
“Yeah, we have to anyway. The both of us can't die here so easily when one can live is such a perfect opportunity. We can't let this come to a loss without fighting for it, we’ve made it this far, we can't lose now.”
“And one has to die? Fuck no, there's still a possibility that neither of us will live—“
“Oh there will be, and it will be you.” You said sternly as you got up from your sitting position and took a step forward. Your hand pushes the pouch onto his chest making the man grunt at the pressure. Leon was even more surprised at this, his eyes locking into yours, finding if you were just joking around. But no, you weren’t, that look in your eyes… it was as if you were ready to give up your life so easily. But why? What was the reason?
“No. No, no, I can't take this! This isn't fair at all!” He shouted at you as he abruptly stood up while gripping the pouch of marbles in his hands.
“What's the point of asking whether we will play when you're already giving it up all in just a second? Are you really that dumb?” Leon’s voice lingered with venom. He was clearly upset with the whole thing you're doing.
“Call me dumb whatever you want. But you — you need to win this, I have no chance of winning this—“
“Fuck, [Y/n]... you can’t — I won’t allow this to happen, this isn’t fair.” Seemingly, he looked as if he was pleading for mercy.
“Life isn’t always fair, Leon.” You commented that your statement is on point, and accurate, which only makes Leon mad even more.
“Cut the crap, what are your motives really? Why even participate in this kind of hell hole without even trying to survive on this one?” Silence filled the air at that very moment. What is your motive? You thought for a brief moment, but time is running out, you don't have much time for more tantrums and chit-chats. This has to end, now.
“Don't you want to win Leon? I’m basically giving up all of myself for this.” You pointed your finger at him as you took another step forward down the flight of stairs. Eyes still pinned on him as you did so.
“Of course I want to! But this isn't enough of a reason for you to do this, was it for my own sake? Was it because you doubted yourself that you wouldn't make it that far to win? Tell me.” Leon didn't move an inch as he stood still, his eyes watching your every movement. Again, your lips remain sealed as you blink at him.
“So what if it was? As if I’ll be able to live for long. I’m giving you a chance here, a free pass to leave here in peace. Why are you being so stubborn, huh?” You glared at him, your hand turning into a fist as you slipped your balled hands inside your pockets. It was cold, and you were sweating uncontrollably.
“Shut up, I’m not letting you end things here without telling me the full reason why. Why are you doing this, why are you being so persistent to move on to the next round, why do you want to end things here? Why?” Leon kept on pushing your limits, and it's driving you crazy. You might just pop any second now if he continues with this.
You didn't say anything and kept silent. Leon on the other hand waited for your answer, though it seems like he wouldn't get his answers any time soon.
“We’re going to play — fairly. Alright? I won't take no for an answer.” He then took a step forward towards you before grabbing your hand harshly and placing the pouch on your palm. Before you could even get the chance to speak, you were suddenly interrupted by him.
“Please.” He pleased, his eyes softening as his gaze was on you, and only you. Your hands felt sweaty, heart was pounding oh so loudly against your chest. Why couldn't he just take the marble and leave? God, he is so persistent!
“Fine, we’ll play. But that’s that — alright?” You said. Leon felt relieved after he heard that from you, he was at least glad that he had convinced you to do this adequately. He thinks that you might actually have the chance of leaving here.
As if, you already made your choice, and you don't plan to change it so easily. And besides, this man is already growing into you. You needed this man to live.
You then walked out of the staircase before turning to him and pointing at the wall behind you.
“To make things easy and less hassle, we’ll just use one marble. Toss the marble, and whoever gets the closest to the wall over there, will win and get all the marbles. Are we clear?” Leon could only answer with a nod before walking down the stairs and then towards you.
The two of you stood side by side as you two faced the wall in front of you. Your hand fidgeted the small bead in between your fingers as Leon could only stare from the distance, in a daze as to what was about to happen.
“You go first.” You nudged him with your elbow as you spoke. He turns his face towards you with a frown forming on his face, he suddenly feels odd. Leon wanted to protest but kept silent as he chose to oblige and gazed over the wall before down to the marble in his hand.
He took a deep breath before tossing the marble as far it could reach, and it somehow landed the nearest to the wall, but not enough. Leon sighed as his eyes went towards you before he spoke. “It’s your turn now.”
You blink before huffing out air and taking a step forward and bending over — acting as if you are ready to toss it in the way he did.
“Don’t do anything stupid.” You heard him whisper, making you go stiff for a quick moment. But hell, this is the only way he could live. And you're not taking any more chances of taking it away from him. Your eyes wandered around, and for a quick moment, your eyes landed on the man in a red jumpsuit staring right over you and Leon.
You bit your tongue before you slowly turn your attention back to the marble in hand. You stayed in that position for a while in pure silence which made Leon grow to worry about your next actions. Surely, you won't do it, right? He thought as a bead of sweat started to form on his forehead.
Just then, he heard a soft thump and his eyes widened to see your marble lying beside your feet. What the hell —
“Sorry, My hands are a bit greasy.” You cheekily smile, when you are about to turn around and face him — he suddenly runs up to you and pins you to the wall by clutching your collar in a tight grip.
“What the fuck are you doing?! Do you think I’m messing around or something? Throw it again!” He demanded as he gripped the collar of your shirt whilst pushing your back against the bricked wall with such force making you wince slightly at the pressure.
“No can do, what's done is done remember?”
“Fuck — you are being fucking unfair! What the hell do you really want to do huh?!” Leon shouted at you as he pushed you further over the wall, his face only an inch apart from yours as his blue eyes stared right through you.
“Nothing, I’m merely just… bored out of my mind really.” You whispered as you could only smile at him. His expressions are so amusing.
“What?” Leon murmured under his breath, he was in disbelief. Bored? You were just bored? God fuck — you were so fucking dumb, so fucking stupid!
“That’s not a good enough reason to define what you just did! Tell me — fucking tell me… [Y/n], what do you really want? What was your reason for even joining? Hm?” Leon was breathing heavily as his hot breath lingered over your face as you stared deeply into his eyes and you suddenly felt nervous by his intense gaze.
“I have no reason, Leon. Fuck, you're so slow to catch up with everything huh? Want me to elaborate further? It’s because I have nothing else to live for nor even have any other reasons to live this much longer. Unlike you, you have someone waiting for you to come home, Sherry is it? That kid must've been so lucky to have such an amazing brother like you. And I admire you for it dearly. But why get so hasty and angry about me losing? Why even bother getting all so worked out with this whole ordeal? Leon, you have a chance of living, a reason for you to live. And me? I have nothing at all really.” You said in one breath as you could almost feel your heart pounding out of your chest. Leon was left stunned after hearing what you had just said. The air soon fell silent yet again as you two could only stare at each other.
“Then… then let me be the reason.” He blurted out so suddenly. Your breath hitched against your throat.
“Excuse me?” You whispered, you were taken aback by his statement. What does he mean by that?
“Let me be your reason to live. You can't just — you can't just die like this without even knowing your real reason for being here…” You don't even know if you're hallucinating but — you saw his lips start to waver as his grip on your collar loosened. “You need to think this through…”
“I’m sorry, but I’ve made up my mind Leon…” Your voice is barely above a whisper but Leon was able to catch up as to what you had just said.
“No… No, you can't do this!” Leon shouted, his eyes started to water as his hands were now gripping your shoulder but were held back by two other masked men in red suits who were now pushing him away from you.
“[Y/n] PLEASE!—“
“Good luck, Leon…” You said in a hushed tone as the man in red walked up to you with his gun already pointing over to your head. Leon’s shouting is the only thing you hear before a loud bang can be heard throughout the makeshift neighborhood. You have finally done your part, this time… it will be finally Leon’s turn to fulfill his duties.

TW: Swearing.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
THERE WAS A PURE SILENCE lingering around the two officers, who seemed to be lost in their thoughts as they walked through the dark and bloody hallways of the station. Their minds were mindlessly wavering whenever they would hear a noise from the distance as they kept their focus on their surroundings on guard.
As time passed, Leon would occasionally glance towards the woman in a police uniform the same as his – though the only difference was that hers were almost torn off—there was a spec of blood here and there as if someone had been into a war or something. But at a time like this, Leon knew what it just meant, how this place had turned into hell.
The young man tries to think of a way to bring up a conversation, though he knows he needs to keep his mouth shut. Not after what happened earlier between her and Marvin; he knew she needed some space – some time to compose herself.
[Y/n] has her eyes forward, her hand gripping the gun in her holster as she keeps it on, ready in case some feral makes an appearance. Though, she thinks the paths they're taking are safe for now.
The silence between them was still lingering in the air. She badly wanted to open her mouth and talk to the rookie who was walking not far behind her. But, she kept her lips glued shut.
She wanted to apologize, to say how sorry she was for yelling at him earlier, how she acted like a child for crying over her superior.
I mean, who wouldn't?
She had grown attached to Marvin, and with everything that was happening, she couldn't bear to hold onto bottling up her feelings to herself that much longer. But she is willing to keep it in as much as she can. She can't break down in front of anyone, and if she did – it would only eat her up alive, the guilt, fear, and loss of someone, someone who's dying right before her eyes. She couldn't handle losing another one; she couldn't. She can't. It would be unbearable for her to do so.
"Hey uhm – [Y/n], right?" The woman was a bit startled when a voice suddenly broke out of the silence. To her relief, it was only Leon who was looking at her with a shy look. She blinked as she gave him a nod in response.
[Y/n] could tell that he was nervous by just taking a glimpse of his posture, the way he fiddled with his flashlight, and how he spoke to her. It was as if she could read him like an open book. He was too easy to read.
"Right," Leon chuckled as he quickly averted his eyes elsewhere.
'How dumb can you just be!? Of course, her name is [Y/n]; the lieutenant already mentioned her a few times!' Leon mentally slapped himself for it. He couldn't think of anything else to say, but at least he said something to break up the silence, right?
[Y/n]'s eyes traveled away from him as she looked up far ahead; she couldn't help but start to fiddle with the hem of her uniform; she was starting to get anxious for some reason. She should've said something other than just act out her response to him. The woman started to debate if she should say something back, maybe even apologize for what she had done back at the main hall.
She took a deep breath as she finally dared to talk.
"I'm sorry for yelling at you earlier. I-I wasn't in the right mental state at that moment, so I just – burst out." [Y/n] glance at him with a sheepish look on her face.
Leon tilted his head slightly as he finally looked at her.
'Why is she apologizing for that?' He thought as he then shook his head at her.
"I-It's fine, I get why you would burst out like that, and it's not your fault at all. You were just looking after me, is that It?" He didn't want to assume so quickly, so he took his statement as a question as the blonde looked at her, waiting for her to answer.
He was right, though, [Y/n] was just looking after her comrades.
"Yeah," She said as a smile crept up to her lips.
"You aren't... Exactly wrong about that; I truly deeply care about my comrades and all. That is why – I wanted you to stay away from the city; I-we couldn't risk losing officers like you anymore. But, now that you're here..." The woman stopped in her tracks as she then faced him with a dull look on her face.
"There's no turning back now," She whispered in a quiet tone, in hopes Leon wouldn't hear what she had just said, in hopes she wouldn't have to make him worry about it. Unfortunately, Leon did hear her, and it made Leon feel bad, guilty even.
"I'm sorry..." Leon took a step closer to her, and he gave her an apologetic look.
"It's okay, you didn't know; I should've been more clear as to what I had said in the email I sent. Though, even if I did, it would've been hard to believe if I also mentioned the reason why we want you out of the city." [Y/n] said. There was no time to mourn or become emotional. They have better things to do. She released a sigh before she extended her hand toward him.
"I can hold onto the flashlight." The woman took notice of how stiff his arms were while holding the flashlight near his neck level.
Leon snapped back out of his thoughts as he shook his head at her.
"N-no! It's fine; I can do it..." He quickly protests as he grips the flashlight.
"You sure?"
"Y-yeah, I'm sure."
[Y/n] stared at him for a moment before she sighed again and nodded her head slightly.
"Okay then, follow my lead. Keep your eyes sharp." She spoke with a stern voice before she turned around and started walking again through the pitched-dark hallway. [Y/n] felt that he wasn't following, and her steps slowly came to a stop as she looked past her shoulders to look at Leon. The blonde was pretty much preoccupied with his thoughts as his blue orbs were looking down at his feet.
"Leon." She called out. Leon blinked as he quickly turned his head towards her.
The two stared at each other in silence. Leon couldn't help but be drawn by her eyes, an everlasting feeling he's been yearning for. He felt his heart racing for some reason as he kept his eyes pinned on her.
[Y/n], on the other hand, wasn't far from similar. Her eyes were glinting with amazement as she took notice of how his eyes were shining under the flashlight's reflection.
'Are his eyes always like that?'
'Cuz fuck, how mesmerizing they are.'
"We... Should get going." [Y/n] uttered as she quickly looked away from him to avoid eye contact. She's afraid that she might get lost in those eyes again; she can't let any more distractions go in her way.
'The hell is up with me anyway?' She wondered.
Leon stood there in silence for a moment before he slowly nodded his head.
"Right..."
[Y/n] flicked her head towards the hallways yet again. She then took a step as she had her eyes on Leon, keeping in check if he was following. Leon took a deep breath and slowly took a step closer behind her, he nodded his head at her, an indication that they should continue with their journey that would lead them to Claire's location.
She just nodded at him as well as she turned her attention back to which direction she had recognized where the courtyard was.
The two started to walk yet again in silence. Completely pushing away the thoughts that have happened earlier between them.
As the two walked around the halls, going inside the shower rooms, inside the offices, and other rooms that had been wrecked to pieces. Finding items that seem like they would be needed for another puzzle that needs to be solved. They're now walking through another hall that leads to the S.T.A.R.S office. Leon had taken the lead and opened the door first as he took a peek inside and was relieved to see now zombies in sight, he looked towards [Y/n] before opening the door for her. What a gentleman he is.
She smiled at him slightly before going inside with her gun already pointing from the distance, just to make sure the place was clear. The [hair color] sighed before putting back her gun inside her holster, she looked around the room, remembering the memories it held when she was here. In the corner of her eye, she saw Leon looking around and picking up a few things on the way.
She licked her dried lips before her eyes caught the monitor from the distance.
'Right, how could I forget there's an armory room here?' She thought before walking up towards the locked door that leads to the armory. She frowned slightly as she walked over to the monitor nearby.
"Damn..." The woman glared at the screen when she noticed that it needed authentication so that the door would unlock. The woman would always still wonder why they would put a lock on this thing, why even bother questioning herself? Of course, it is mandatory to put a lock on this thing.
'There's no fucking way I'm gonna waste my time on this shit.' She huffed before biting her lip and looking towards the metal doors. She glared at it once more before turning her heels with both of her hands planted on her hips as she looked around the room with a frown on her face.
Her change of demeanor didn't come unnoticed by Leon as he looked at her with his lips parted.
"Is... there something wrong?" He blurted out, his footsteps going near her way as the woman looked up at him and sighed, making her face relax.
"Just – thinking is all, no worries." She waved her hand off towards him as she turned around and walked towards the other side of the room; not even bothering to hear him utter another word to her as she was already occupied with many things that were going on inside her head.
Leon's face crumbled down as he looked at her with saddened eyes from afar. He didn't get to what he had done to make her upset, or either the reason why for distancing herself from him. I mean, he already apologized. And their conversation earlier – he thought they were already okay.
What's going on inside your head exactly? Leon didn't question it further as he bit his lower lip and tore his gaze away from you and focused on what he was doing earlier.
After a while, [Y/n] called out to Leon that they should head towards the other side of the station where they are supposedly going to get to Claire. Leon just nodded his head in acknowledgment and followed close behind her as he already had his flashlight on.
They both walked out of the office and started to walk out of the hallway yet again. Just then, [Y/n] heard something from above making her freeze for a moment with her eyes wide.
"Shit!" [Y/n] cussed in a whisper as she quickly pulled Leon by his arm and hid behind a wall after hearing a loud scratch and screech, this could only mean one thing. A fucking licker.
Leon looked at her with a confused expression as he was about to open his mouth and ask what was wrong – the woman quickly covered his mouth and hushed him with her index finger against her lips.
She looked behind her and quickly pushed herself and Leon onto the wall in hopes she wouldn't see that fucking crawling feral. She held her breath as her grip on Leon's arm tightened. She kept her hearing sharp as she listened to the footsteps getting near. Her eyes darted to Leon and signaled him to stay quiet again, to which Leon quickly obliged.
'Fuck, I hate this fucking lizard wannabes!' She cussed to herself as she squinted her eyes above her head as she looked at the ceiling from the distance. She thinks it would be best to keep quiet instead of fighting it off, just to save some more bullets.
The woman's eyes narrowed as she watched the licker crawls away from above. A breath of relief passed her parted lips before letting go of Leon's arm.
For the whole time, Leon's eyes were on her.
"That... thing, it was a licker wasn't it?" Leon suddenly uttered, making [Y/n] turn her head towards him.
"Yeah – how did you know?" She asked as she noticed how she was standing close to him making her take a step back which Leon took notice of.
"Saw a note about them when I'm exploring around." He answered as he gave her a sheepish smile.
[Y/n] nodded at his statement slowly before she looked around the halls. The coast is clear, she noted as her eyes travel towards Leon again.
"We've been here for too long, we should stop for now and head towards the east side so we could meet up with Claire." She stated as she started to walk towards the main hall – before stopping in her tracks and looking behind her.
"Shall we?" She called out. Leon nodded his head slightly before he started to follow her again like a lost puppy following its owner.
Sooner later, they both arrive in the main hall yet again. [Y/n] has her eyes trained over the sleeping Marvin from afar, a sigh escapes her lips before she looks over to Leon.
"Is there anything you need to do here before we go? Better do it now, we don't wanna waste our time here much longer now do we?" She crossed her arms over her chest as she lightly tapped her finger over her arm.
"Yeah – just give me a minute, I won't take too long!" Leon said as he quickly jogged up through a flight of stairs and then towards the lion statue.
'What could he be doing—oh.' [Y/n] walks over to Leon and watches as he solves a puzzle.
"The lion medallion, nice. This just means we have at least... two more to find." She smiled as she took the medallion from the statue and pocket it in a small pouch that is attached to her hips.
"Actually — the only medallion we need to find is the Maiden one." Leon pointed out as he suddenly took out the Unicorn medallion from his poets and showed it to her making [Y/n]'s eyes widened slightly. She was sure to be surprised.
"I see, that's good then! Well done, Rookie." She gave him a thumbs up, along with a proud smile on her lips.
Leon smiled sheepishly as he mumbles. "Just doing my job..."
"Okay, is that all?" She asked as she turned her head to face him. Leon bobbed his head lightly in response.
"Alright then – c'mon, let's not waste any more time and move on." [Y/n] smiled slightly, the heels of her feet turning as she made her way toward the staircase. Leon soon followed closely behind her, heart racing like a mantra. The feeling of getting praised by someone gave him the motivation to pursue what he was doing, especially when it came from someone like [Y/n].
The two walked through the flight of stairs and they then got inside a room, [Y/n] abruptly stopped in her tracks as she noticed a door; It has some kind of blue spade-like shape on the door.
'Damn, just remembered that this key is nowhere to be found. How come no one has found it yet? It has been what? a month since then?' The woman shook her head lightly at this as she continued to stare at the door.
"This is the only way to get to Claire, Unfortunately, the door is locked." She said over to Leon as she tilted her head to look past her shoulders. Leon had also stopped in his tracks as he stood behind her, almost hovering over her.
'Okay, wow, he's taller than I expected.' She suddenly noticed.
"I think I have the key—" The blonde mumbled, fishing out his hands through his pockets before pulling out a spade key.
"Well damn, who knew you can easily find the lost things better than the other officers." [Y/n] chuckled at him with a smirk forming on her lips.
"For someone new with this whole ordeal — you'll quickly get to the top, Leon." The woman hasn't even realized that she called him by his name, not that she didn't give a fuck or anything. But somehow Leon noticed this which made a light blush spread across his cheeks and didn't even say anything about it.
"Y-You think so?"
"I know so. Now, are you going to use the key or what?"
"R-right!" Leon swiftly stepped over with the key in hand. His hand lifted as he pushed in the key. [Y/n] ears were left satisfied after hearing a soft click making a smile spread across her lips and patting Leon's shoulder softly; an indication of how thankful she was for all the hard work he had put in for the past hour.
"Shall we?" The woman eyed Leo for a quick second as she flicked her head towards the door slightly.
"We shall." His response made [Y/n] chuckle softly as she then walked closer to Leon. Her hand wrapped around the small round metal, twisting it open revealing yet another dark hall. She's starting to get irked with the darkness in every corner of this station. She would've rather stayed at the main hall and taken care of Marvin. But decided to just suck it in and continue with their journey to get out of this hell hole. [Y/n] [L/n] is no pussy.
The woman took a deep breath before stepping inside. She suddenly flinched when Leon flicked the flashlight open making him apologize.
"N-No worries, you just caught me off guard is all." [Y/n] laughed lightly as she shook her head slightly at her silliness. "I can be a scaredy cat at times." She commented before her head turned to look from her left then right, checking if there were any zombies in sight.
"Okay, I think we're clear—" [Y/n] suddenly stopped mid-sentence when the ground started to rumble. Her ears ringing as she quickly holds onto the wall near her for support. There was a sudden crush from outside making the ground shake at the impact.
"What the hell was that!?" Leon half-yelled as he quickly went up to [Y/n] with a visible panic lingering in his voice.
"I don't know — but I think it's those who have been sent here for backup. And well, shit happens. I couldn't count how many helicopters they've sent here but all of them had failed to get here in peace." [Y/n] grumbled as she then looked at the fire exit at the end of the hallway.
"C'mon! The fire exit is over there." She tilted her head towards the exit. Leon quickly nodded as the two officers started to sprint towards the door.
As [Y/n] and Leon barge outside, they are met with the smell of smoke. Eyes widened when they saw it was the helicopter. Figured. The woman's nose wrinkled in disgust, suddenly felt nausea from the bottom of her stomach. She couldn't somehow find herself getting used to the smell of something rotten.
"Leon!?" A familiar voice rang in their ears. [Y/n]'s train of thought comes to a stop as her head turns to where the voice comes from. A relieved sigh escaped her lips and quickly looked at Leon and motioned for him to follow. Leon didn't think twice as he eagerly ran behind [Y/n]. Their heavy footsteps clank over the metal stairs, the droplets of rain falling over their heads to toe. They weren't bothered that they were getting wet from the rain.
"Claire!" [Y/n] shouted, a smile gracing her lips as she stopped abruptly in front of the brunette. Her fingers touch the fence as she leaned forward to take a closer look at Claire, checking if she had any critical injuries of some sort. But it seems like she was doing fine.
"Holy shit — thank God you're alive!" Claire couldn't help but smile as well, she was glad she found an old friend alive and well. Her eyes peered over [Y/n]'s shoulder and saw Leon standing behind her. "And you too." She uttered before her eyes darted toward her old friend.
"Say uh, I'm guessing you don't have a key in those fancy pockets." Claire chuckled giggly as she motioned towards Leon, noticing how his attire changed.
Leon shook his head in response. "Unfortunately, no..." he murmured. Claire waved her hand as she reassured him that it was quite alright.
"Any luck with your brother though?" Leon then asked, making [Y/n] look at him in the corner of her eye.
"No, not yet." Claire's head shakes slightly as she looks down at her feet. Just then, her head darted towards [Y/n] and there was a glint of hope in her eyes.
"Do you know where Chris might be?"
"Well... one thing for sure is that he's out of the city. He left a few weeks ago saying he has a business to take care of. He didn't say anything much about it, saying that it was classified." She responded with a small smile.
"I see... good to know. I won't have to worry much about him then, now that I know he's not here." The woman in the red leather jacket smiled, she was relieved to know that his brother wasn't there to experience this madness. She just hopes that wherever he is — that he is safe. Though she would need to figure out where he had gone.
Suddenly, they heard a loud explosion from behind making their ears ring for a moment as their head ducked from the sudden outburst. They looked where it came from and saw the helicopter had erupted and is now flaming with fire. The fire alarm didn't help much and it only made everything worse. [Y/n]'s heart started to race when they heard growls and moans coming from Claire's side.
'Shit — the explosion is luring them here!' She thought in a panic. Eyes pinned towards Claire who looked dreadful as the other two.
"You guys know what that means," Leon commented.
"Yeah... dinner time."
