A special impromptu photo-shoot at the old Decatur studio with Mr. Tom during one of our impromptu trips! I loved introducing Mr. Tom to new places, familiar places, basically any place outside of the home and office. I've never yet, not ever until him, have I known someone with whom I could get lost in conversation with and talk for hours. A long lunch, some Sauvignon Blanc- or maybe it was Scotch- no, maybe Cognac. Whatever in was our glasses only made those moments, lunches, trips and holidays more ceremonial; as far as I am concerned. • Today, the framed art, vases, and collectibles from our trips to galleries and places like Athens and Roswell, (even boutique antique shops), are found displayed as proudly as he once did. It's because of his joy, along with the memories are reflected instantly in my heart and mind upon each gaze. • Probably most cherished is a photograph of Jansen that sat beside his bedside, and the photo of him holding her for the first time are now found in both my and Jansen’s rooms. Looking at a photo he looked at with love and devotion only makes both she and I look at the same photo and think of the man we were so devoted to, and still are, even in memory. • The love felt by Mr. Tom saved me from the heartache and loneliness felt from my own family and allowed me to have a special bond with someone who became another Father to me. Jansen became his granddaughter and instantly I was able to visibly see the blessing that was brought into his life, her. ❤️ Tom, on August 31 we lost you but you shall never be forgotten. I reached 30 days of sobriety and felt surprised, followed by self gratitude at this minor, but significant accomplishment. 2018 was the last time I went a month and longer sober, and even then, the reasoning was different, I was different. Sobriety for me was something foreign to me, and later it became something I needed to do to break free from other addictions, for my health, and now it is because I am choosing to be it: sober. Sobriety is new to me, exciting, and with each day that passes, it is an added level of greatness in my day....

To my seventeen year old self ❤️ Thanks to @lindakayklein for your book ’Pure’ and the movement you influenced. @breakfreetogether is a wonderful way that we can share our experiences and be heard, finally. I have put off filling out my postcard for several weeks and yet have been very reflective on those times of my life, my youth.

It's sad and unfortunate, and wrong how the evangelical movement destroyed a lot of people's youth and innocence, even faith. It's empowering that now discussions are happening that awaken so many of us up and allow us to ”break free” from the torment, judgement, and memories from our youth. I'm glad to have my faith back, and to forgive much that was taught to me wrong, and those who neglected to live by example.

My demons, awakened last night, are in my ear with a perception that hasn't changed in the six years since I've seen this person. From close friends can come the worst enemies, and now it seems she is more, my nemesis, she clearly is an avenging force.

It seems I am not the only aspiring author with a slight pen name, sharing pictures of my computer, and quoted excerpts of chosen books on my social media.

Her title as ”Novelist” struck me in every way shocked and incredulous, my disbelief suspended when I read her Fiction Psychological Thriller will be published next year, self-published I have to assume. I still am shaking my head in repudiation but will be one of the first to buy and read her ”novel” and now planned to have mine finished, a counterblow, a nonfiction blow.

I love the words of my chosen Saint: Elizabeth Ann Seton, and whom I chose my confirmation name to be after. Her words and story are an inspiration to me, especially how my path to Catholicism mirrors hers!

Last Sunday I was confirmed in the Catholic Church, Christ The King Cathedral after a year of classes. I took RCIA twice to make sure I knew all I could about the Catholic/ Christian Faith and how to fully embrace it. Last Sunday night during our confirmation I felt such pride for myself, my fellow classmates, and my Christian faith! The support and grace from the entire experience and those I've meet within the Parish have overwhelmed my heart and soul. I have been saved since age 8, and following years of rededications and also absence from my faith, I have never felt such closeness in my faith and desire, or felt the synergy I do within this Church and its fellow parishioners. Now sharing my journey along with my daughter as she begins her journey in faith and our Church, it has brought about so much more emotion than I could've hoped. My life has truly opened up to my faith than ever before thanks to what I've learned from the Catholic Church.
