Wednesday hangover!
No, not drunk. Just didn't feel like doing anything today. I didn't count calories, didn't exercise. I feel like I have no motivation today. I get stuck when I feel like this. Let's hope this hangover gets better tomorrow. Your weight loss ndn J

Hi, I'm back.
It’s been about a year and half since my last post. I failed. My weight loss journey struggled and I find myself in worse shape and a more damaged body. I will get into some of my life situations but not as an excuse, or to earn pitty. I’m doing this for me and if anyone can get just a little encouragement from it, that’s great. So let’s start this again. I’m fat, really fat. I’m trying to lose weight. My new accurate starting weight: 475 lbs My current weight: 468 Age:37 High blood pressure, pre-diabetic. Back surgery & knee surgery Mobility is limited. I can walk and that’s about it. It’s god to be back J

What's next?
I marked off a bucket list item last weekend. I recorded a Mvskoke Creek traditional hymn singing. Ever since I've started getting into sound engineering and videography, I've wanted to do this, but setting this up and getting permission was almost impossible. Let's review. First off I have no school training in either sound or video. I've been a recording engineer for 14 years and have been blessed to work with awesome people. On the video side, I've done nothing huge. Granted, I do consider myself a journalist for www.nativemusiconline.com and conduct interviews, but nothing too elaborate. I've never let that stop my goals and ambition. I'm a YouTube student, meaning if I don't know how to do something, I'll watch a YouTube tutorial on it. So it was very fitting on for my 36th bday, I got to cover this event. It brought back memories of my childhood and I felt an instant connection with my ancestors. Currently, I'm editing the 4 hour multiple camera angles and audio in my new video software, Final Cut Pro X. I've been using iMovie to do everything but this was such a large event I needed to save time with a more professional software. Moving forward, I hope I get more opportunities to capture for of my tribal history and share it with the world. Eventually I would love to write a short film and release it. Until then, I guess il keep on preparing for my next step and enjoy the ride.

New Goals & Game Plan
With 50lbs just a pound away, I need to update some weight loss goals. I intentionally started without a goal because I was more focused on the lifestyle change. Now I feel I have the basics of my lifestyle change down, now it's time to twerk, I mean tweak. My next goal is 400lbs. That will put me at 65 lbs down. I'm only 15 pounds away. Then my goal will be every 25 pounds. I figure if I tweak my diet and exercise at every 25 pounds my body won't get used to what I'm doing and will continue to burn the stored fuel I've been storing for years. So with that said, wish me luck to see 400lbs!

Diary of a fat man 7/18/15
So many changes! Here are my stats, thoughts & real talk. Starting weight: 465 lbs or more Current weight: 416 lbs Starting shirt size: 6xl Current shirt size: 4xl but I can put on 3xl now Starting waist: 50 Current waist: 46 Being 1 pound from losing a total of 50 lbs is amazing. I feel better and notice changes in my body. I'll share the ups and downs: 1) My ankles are smaller and don't swell much anymore. When my lower legs started to swell, I knew I'd better start changing u lifestyle. 2) Energy went from 0 - 5 (out of 10). I've dealt with several back issues starting with back surgery in November 2012. After the operation and physical therapy, my Dr put me on two permanent restrictions. Sedentary work environment & 10 lbs lifting limit. I was devastated because I was a new father and a bass player. The thought of not holding my baby girl broke my heart. Now, Im working out about 2 times a week. I can play with my kid and move around more during the day. 3) I care about my style. When you weigh 465lbs you can only find so many 6xl shirts. I think the more weight I lose the more I'll like getting new clothes. 4) Challenging thoughts. This is not a positive change but I'm struggling in this area. Although I physically know my pants are bigger, I feel like if I make one mistake in my food choice, I will gain all my weight back. The thought of seeing 450+ on the scale is scary. The weight loss has been relatively easy, but I think this why I'm struggling with my self talk and inner thoughts. If it's been this easy to lose weight, I'll gain it back easy, without me knowing. I feel I don't have control over my body. 5) To follow up on #4, I left off with & I feel I dont have control over my body;however, I can control what choices I make. What do I eat, what veggies do I eat, what juices I make. I may not control what my body does but I make the choices on what goes into my body & what my body does (physically).

The Wall part 1
I have officially hit the wall. I have lost 39 lbs since I started my weight loss It’s been a steady decrease in weight every day. But 40 lbs is a huge step for me and I been here for about a week. Here are my thoughts.
I challenge you, if you hit a wall, write out your routine, see what’s good and where you might be able to improve. (But who is going to take diet suggestions from a morbidly obese guy? Maybe it’ll will work.)
1. I’ve only really changed my diet. I cut out refined sugar. I’ve started juicing 2 times a day. I eat low calories lunches and dinners. I don’t really snack and if I do, it’s an organic, non processed option.
1a. Where can I help my progress on my diet?
First, keep track of my intake. When I started, I just started. No plan, no counting calories, I literally said Im going on a diet and changing my life now and I did.
Secondly, do a better job on my lunch and dinner. I don’t plan what Im going to eat for lunch so a lot of times I settle for the healthiest option I can find. I’m lucky because there is a place next to my job that sells baked chicken. It’s not a farm fresh chicken but the best I’m going to do. To often I settle for that. It’s not a bad option but if I keep doing that, it will hurt me in the long run. For dinner, my wife usually cooks something. We have a really close understanding of food. Her cooking is right on par for a good dinner. My improvement would be: eat earlier. I work a later shift, do things after work and eat dinner after 9pm. Add more greens.
2. Ive just signed a membership to join a gym. The hard part will be finding the time to go. I used to be a health nut one time in my life. In high school I was co- senior male athlete of the year. I played a year of college basketball. Once I started working on my profession, I was sitting at a desk for 8-10 hours a day. My job is a mentally stressful job, so when I got home I would just do nothing.
2a. I can start by making a schedule for the gym and sticking to it. I took pictures of all the machines so I can write my own workout. The main thing I like about my gym is that have the big ropes. I love these because I feel like I get a great core workout by using them.
3. Both my wife and I share the same goals about weight loss. We agree on not eating refined sugar, processed food, only eating organic as much as possible, etc.
3a. This is probably more marriage advice but keep talking about what works and doesn’t work. She cooks for me and I cook for her. The more we talk the more it changes how we prepare food for each other. It’s nice having a partner that is on the same journey.
To be continued

A nice surprise clothes shopping
I've been living my new lifestyle for almost 2 months and down almost 40lbs. My clothes are starting to get baggy. I can deal with my shirts and polos. I can't deal with my jeans. When I started my waist was a 50. Shirts were 5-6xl. I am a large man. Height 6'3". Full of ndn Frybread! I have a Hank Hill butt. Not sure what I mean by a Hank Hill butt? Watch this: http://youtu.be/3pqPETI1JYw To make it worse I have tree trunks for leg. I was a college basketball player, highschool Football All Star for both Offensive & Defensive line, State of OK shot put qualifier. My legs are strong....and fat....and I have thighs for days. Back to clothes shopping. So my size 50x30 jeans I get from DXL were falling off of me. When I walk I had to keep ahold of my jeans because they are literally falling off if the wind blows right. Yes I wear a belt, which I'm on my last hole! Its a little embarrassing especially to my wife. When I walk in the door from a long day at the office I finally succumb to my dilemma and my jeans hit the floor. So my awesome wife came shopping with me today. We instantly start with a 50x30 and 48x30. I try on the the 48 and they are falling off of me standing there trying to show my wife how they look! I get a 46 and they fit rather well! Long story short, I dropped 2 Jean sizes. We go to the clearance section to see if I can find a deal. My wife see this polo jacket. It was nice but a 3XL. I immediately say, that's way too small. Here's why I love my wife, she says well, the way you're losing weight it will fit you when it gets cooler. She said it might fit you now. I said, no you're just being silly. She urged me to try it on and I a out pooped my pants. It was a little tight but it fit! So from a 6xl jacket that barely fit to now a solid 4xl and able to put on a 3xl with out ripping it! Last winter I ripped my 6xl jacket at the seam because it was tight. I am in such a good mood. I'm seeing the changes and now in my clothes. Things are getting exciting. I even bought smaller undies today! My wife said "Honey, you may not be shopping at the big & tall store for that much longer. And frankly I believe her.

Reflections: 1 month in
It's been a little over a month since I started my lifestyle change. To recap, I first started with reducing the amount of refined sugar I was ingesting. Then after I learned more about refined sugar I figured I need to change up my food intake because I originally thought refined sugar was only in soda. BOY, was I wrong. Secondly, I started juicing. A breakfast juice and a snack between lunch and dinner. Third, started transitioning to clean eating, organic, grass fed beef, no hormones, things like that. Positives: -More Energy. I'm not out mowing the lawn or anything but I'm playing more with my kid, staying up later. -Losing Weight. I'm down 35lbs in 5 weeks. -I feel better. I don't feel like going to die of a heart attack everyday. My breathing is better, more stamina. -I look better. The juices I drink have a lot of green veggies. My skin looks so much healthier. If you ask me I think I look younger. My pores have shrunk and less redness. Negative: (most are funny but don't come close to the positives) -Clothes don't fit: I'm constantly trying to adjust my belt when I think people aren't looking. Someone always see me. I'm lucky I haven't had the cops called on me. When I walk any distance I have to grab my wait around my pants to keep them up. (By the way, I have the Hank Hill butt) -Obsessive control: everything that goes into my mouth has been looked at, checked out, ingredients reviewed and if anything processed, 75% of the time doesn't make the cut. I still eat about 25% processed food. -Expensive: eating healthy costs, but I've noticed my serving sizes have got smaller. Organic is almost double the non organic. Meat is about double when it's grass fed, no hormones, etc... Fresh veggies go bad faster so you have to use them or lose them. -Time: this is time consuming when you first start. I'm starting to see my juicing go faster. Cooking faster, etc.... I was learning about everything from sugar, processed foods, best veggies, worst fruits, good food that is really bad for you, how sugar turns to insulin and insulin turns straight to fat. My motto through this whole process has been this: When I was eating with bad choices I didn't care. I knew what I was eating was bad for me. But every time I wanted to healthy it didn't seem to work because not everything that is marked low fat, low calorie, no sugar, or organic is healthy for you and can have the same effect as regular food. I felt cheated because food manufacturers are lying to our face with their labels. You have to really read and know what the indigents are to know if it's actually good or bad for you. I have told my wife and close friends, it's one thing to know what you're eating is bad for you. It's another to think you're eating healthy but in reality the food is just as bad as what you were eating! The food industry lies to us! One month in my lifestyle has changed drastically. I don't know what my eating habits will look like in a month, year or 10 years. Hopefully, I keep making better choices and keep educating myself on food,
