It’s never too early to treat a wound. Results just may be limited. Limited only by your imagination.

Today I was curious. Turns out that the “lotus” emoji (🪷) is actually a water lily.
“…water lilies have large, pinkish flowers with yellow centers… Lotus blooms are also large, but they are light yellow in color, with deeper yellow centers. A lotus' flower is also elevated, with the yellow blooms affixed to long stalks growing up from the water's surface. Pink water lily blooms grow right atop their large leaves, appearing to be on the water's surface.”

I cannot tell you how being truly in love feels. You’ll know it though. It’s a fullness in your chest and warmth in your face. Like lying in the most beautiful puddle of sun in a world completely at peace. For a moment, you can lose yourself in that sunshine. - Me at 33

Just 7 low-key basics for any beginning witch:
1) learn how to dress and light a candle without burning your house down. A little oil goes a long way. A lot of oil goes right into a bad situation.
2) learn how to light and position incense so you don’t set off the fire alarms. Fans are an amazing friend. They circulate the smell of the incense to your whole living space, but also diffuses the smoke.
3) do not store your planchette on your ouija board (it’s like leaving your house unlocked).
4) make sure you research oils before you diffuse them if you have animals. I.e citrus straight oils or citrus oil in oil blends make dogs sick and lily oil can kill cats.
And by the gods don’t diffuse banishing oil because you’ll end up with a pepper spray situation.
5) you don’t absolutely need a holder. You just need to soften the bottom of a candle enough (yes with fire) and it will stick to a surface. A flame resistant surface (see rule one about accidentally burning down things).
6) don’t poison the earth with a ring of salt on the grass. Ashes from incense or powdered egg shells works the same. And add nutrients to the soil.
Salt inside, not outside.
And 7) if you live in an apartment or house that will not be friendly to any burning, make your favorite herbs into infusions. You can use them on their own, or mix different ones easily, for any desirable effect. Unlike burning the herbs, smoke detectors shouldn’t go off unless you spray right at them. (Watch for mold in the bottle).
I’m being a touch humerus but I also mean every bit of it.

You go to the doctor. You are prescribed refills for “controlled medications”, you’ve taken for over 6 years. You sign the contract. Even the contract is biased. Because, if you need to use controlled substances, you’re an addict. Even if the pharmacy employee diverted my pills (years ago), I was treated at drug seeking.
Controlled substance use even when used as prescribed = drug addict.
With the system and the inherent bias even among practitioners, even if you are prescribed and never have sought treatment outside of that agreement = drug addict.
TLDR: stop the bloody judgement.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
P.S Also, it’s past time to throw out BMI. I can be at a weigh that shows ribs (on my way back to it since I lost almost 15 pounds in 3 months), I’m going to be morbidly obese.

People, if someone ever says you “need to be put in your place,” or any of the other hatred that is shown in this response*, y’all gotta run. Run hard and fast and and scream “FIRE” until you have safety because this kind of person doesn’t care if you live as long as you you aren’t making them uncomfortable in their toxic identity.

*I’m going to get not all men (yea, y’all will get yours). But, if this speaks to you as a man wanting to protect someone from someone else who thinks you have to be given permission to be treated as an equal threat because THEY decide you can “play with the boys” because they think they their word is law.
Fucking run.

“Man kills woman who only attacks those who attack her. Holds head up in display of cowardice with eyes turned down and uses her head as a weapon because her power, even in death, was greater than his prowess in life.” - A modern opinion.
Original piece: Perseus with the head of Medusa, c. 1571, Benvenuto Cellini
The story of Medusa is convoluted. She was either cursed by Athena, her patron in the the temple that she served the goddess, for being “allowed to be” raped by Poseidon (who Athena had a horrific grudge against) or Medusa was given power at the goddess’ blessing (still kind of a curse?) to be the most fearful monster alive to protect her.
Either way…

I blocked out my FB name. But I am a nurse. And I don’t make exceptions to my care based on history. I am a nurse. I care for people. While past medical history is a guide, it does not mean my compassion goes out the window. The #medical community needs to do better.
