I will be giving away four full colour A4 drawings (of a request of your choice) to four winners. So one drawing per winner. The drawing can be either digital or traditional, it’s up to you!

I plan to ship the drawings to the winners free of charge (the original in the case of traditional, a high quality A4 print if digital), along with a bonus sketch and some other goodies.

Pushing Forward

It’s not very often that a choice comes along that allows you to choose what side of history to on, the marriage referendum on May 22nd is one of those opportunities. People keep saying how in 40 years we will look back and be ashamed that this was even an issue, and for so long, but hey, delayed change is still change. Human beings are nothing if not evolutionary, developing, and always shifting opinions; we’ve been around for almost 200 thousand years, give or take, and maybe we need to remember that sometimes in order to gain some perspective.

While researching the various opposition rationales I was trying my very best to sympathise with the reasoning, which I’m normally quite good at, however, it’s very difficult to see light with people who often tend not to know the facts they are so aggressively arguing. People who only go to mass once a year at Christmas saying it’s against God’s intent. Well maybe, just maybe, on May 22nd Jesus will come down to George’s St, for one night only, tell everyone how 2000 years ago, people wouldn’t have agreed with him as our saviour if he hadn’t condemned homosexuality, and would thank us for taking the intuitive to correct the job he didn’t finish, and then come out on the session? Unlikely… could happen though, and how left out would you feel then, huh? Or else the very common misconception that the referendum has anything to do with the adoption of children, it doesn’t, at all, so remove that from your current equation, starting… now.

Though, people who are so strongly against the referendum (if they know the facts or not) are, I’m finding, usually too resistant to change, and at this late stage, I’m officially declaring them a lost hope. But for people on the fence, or people not pushed either way, generally saying, ‘It doesn’t affect me, I’m not voting’ or ‘Why should I be concerned?’ this really gets me, I urge you to vote yes, I promise you that if you don’t know anyone currently that it will effect, you will in the next 5 – 10 years, it’s becoming a more accepted reality that people can finally be themselves, and if it’s a child, family member or friend who you deeply care about that comes out in the future, how will you psychologically deal with the fact that you didn’t stand up for them, or said no, you’re not equal to me, you don’t deserve these basic rights? *calms self*… oh, and you have until May 5th by the way to register to vote in case you are looking to vote, but thought you’d missed out.

So let’s take action, do the right thing, be on the right side of history, and vote yes on May 22nd. #VoteYes #MarriageEquality #May22nd

What happens when rejection becomes routine? Well, if this video is anything to go by, your flatmate starts to slip ecstasy into your coffee to just to make things ' a bit more interesting'. Swedish-based artist Jape has always had a flair for the odd with his videos, but with such a strong song backing it, 'Seance of Light' has to be one of his strongest. Enjoy.

The first video released after their recent signing with Rough Trade (home to Warpaint and others) and Girl Band are definitely making the most of their bigger budget. If you can stomach the decidedly unsettling 8 minute clip of 'Why They Hide Their Bodies Under My Garage' you'll see why Girl Band are set to be Dublin's next big thing.

Last month saw the departure of founding member Tim Fernly from bluegrass belters Gypsy Rebel Rabble. He was sent off in style though, with a sold out show in Whelans to commemorate his unique musicality and to wish him well in America. The remaining members have decided to continue under the GRR name though and as a sign of good faith, have made the debut single from their latest full-length offering the unrelentingly cheerful 'Future Kid', written entirely by vocalist Brona Keogh. GRR is dead, Long live GRR.

Surf-Pop aficionados Blades Club are at it again, this time with 'Asian Babes' a raucous song with an equally raucous video. The track is set to see its official release this Friday on all major platforms with a single launch the following Thursday.

A truly infectious track, 'Johnny Leave Her' is the 2nd offering from Ian Edgerly. A frequent user of the social platform Vine, the vocal sample was taken from a 6 second video by Luke Berti and manipulated for a dark and electric four minutes. Enjoy.
