Michael runs a nail along the length of the scar. “Yeah. Haven’t touched it since… Well, you know.”

Faith tightens her hands on the steering wheel. “It looks nice,” she says, running her eyes over him. “The curls are a good look.”

Michael looks over at her. “You think?”

Faith’s staring hard out the windshield now, like she thinks if she looks back at him she’ll burst into flames or something. “Yeah,” she says, running her tongue over her bottom lip. “It works for you.”

“Thanks,” Michael says. “I was thinking of getting a haircut before the wedding.”

“Don’t even think of touching your hair,” Faith says, the corner of her mouth twitching.

Michael rolls his head against the headrest and grins at her. “Oh. So you’re really a fan, huh?”

Faith lifts a hand off the steering column to ruffle her fingers through the curls at the back of his head, near the scar. “I wouldn’t say I’m a fan, per se.”
