weekly rec lists aren't really attainable for me; if i did, each week's would fluctuate in quality and quantity. i wait until i've amounted to 15 before making each part, it's easier that way.

also my rec lists are really for my own record, i just share them on the internet for others lol. they consist of fics i highly enjoy and provide a place to both store AND post them. 911 Season 8 finale serious rant... (safe space, I'll give you a hug)

I've taken the week to digest things and really think about what happened-

I've been with this fandom for a few years now and I'm exhausted, I'm burnout, I'm tired of hoping and wishing and being gaslit into thinking we (the fans) aren't allowed to have opinions about it. And this isn't even wholly about Buddie endgame either, its about feeling used and taken advantage of as a fan...

Eddie's still in the closet, Bobby is seriously dead, Buck is still in denial & has conflicting emotions... the entirety of season 8B was centered around Buddie, so what gives? Buck even had a feelings realization arc, what happened there, too?? We had Maddie nearly DIE from having her THROAT SLASHED, but the episode immediately diverted back to Buck and Eddie again right after-

Sensitive topic... but the queerbaiting allegations are at an all-time high yet again. This is so much deeper than fans being upset because their faves didn't get together. This is WEEKS and MONTHS (years, even) of writers, producers, directors, ABC associates, set extras, etc being cute by making suggestive comments about Buck and Eddie's relationship, posting Buddie-related content, ANYTHING to attract eyes leading up to the season finale.

They sent Ryan + Oliver on a media tour and let them talk about Buddie, something they weren't allowed do before... up until now, the mention of Buddie from the press has been a PR nightmare for FOX/ABC, and last week alone it was mentioned how many times? And welcomed openly?? 😞 (And for clarity: I'm not saying Ryan + Oliver are at fault by any means, the show writers/producers kinda are…)

Can we really call ABC's press & marketing strategy bad if it worked? We all got fucking played last Thursday during 8x18...

Even if Buddie is being set up for Season 9, this was a horrible way of trying to get fans onboard. They could've had something, ANYTHING before the finale ended to allude to Buddie developing next season, made it a cliffhanger for s9 IF that was the goal/plan... but there's just nothing.

It's like Tim Minear keeps holding out, won't pull the trigger, and it makes things seem borderline scam-ish. One of, if not THE biggest spectacle of your show is the close relationship between two male best friends... and everyone actively plays with the idea of them being something more.

I've seen SO much unnecessary and misdirected hate towards RG & OS this week, it's sickening. I have felt very dissociated from 911 since the finale...

The familiar thumping radiates loudly under his palm, the crook of his elbow resting perfectly in the dip of Eddie's waist. Gentle fingers brush the back of Buck's hand, tapping once, twice, three times against the skin.

We're okay.

For the first time all night Buck feels the weight of fatigue drag on both his mind and body, comforted in the presence of his best friend, and the boy that lies peacefully in his own bed just down the hall. The feeling of a kind and tender warmth pouring out, offering him something delicate and sweet in place of the dark that previously occupied the space. As if all the tension coiled tightly in his chest, a heavy weight he’s been carrying for who knows how long, finally begins to unravel.
