No, but this scene had a profound impact on me. This is the scene where I learned that I don’t have to let someone hurt me just because I was told to like/respect them. This is the scene where Peter showed me I don’t have to let someone trick me into believing that what they’re doing to me is “okay.”

Ever since we were little, we’ve always been told to “be nice to everyone!” and “respect everyone, especially adults because they know better than you do!” If you weren’t nice to that one kind in your class who never left you alone, then you were the one who got in trouble. And if you stood up against a teacher because they didn’t respect you for yourself, you were in hot water then (I was constantly harassed by a middle school teacher for my religion, but when I told them I didn’t like that, I got in trouble because I “disrespected them”).

When Nick Fury introduced Peter to Mysterio, Quentin made sure that Peter only called him Mysterio out of respect for his superhero title and his prowess over S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers. Then he weaseled his way into Peter's life with his tragic backstory and comparison to Tony Stark, pretty much forcing Peter to trust him and give him respect.

Mysterio used Peter’s brokenness at losing Tony Stark - his idol, his friend, and the greatest father figure in his life - to get E.D.I.T.H., making it seem like Peter didn’t deserve E.D.I.T.H. anyway because he wasn’t “good” enough to step into Tony’s shoes, then made it seem like it was Peter’s fault!!

About all abuse stories sort of mirror this, especially mine. And I will not be tricked into thinking

The abuser uses the victim's pain, their hurt, and their brokenness to take and take and take and use them for their own gain. Then when they get bored or find another person or object to use, they throw aside the victim and make them believe that they were not good enough for them and that it's their fault even though it's 100% not!!!

YOU are worthy enough for greatness, and if anyone tells you otherwise, they're trying to trick you into thinking differently because they're just afraid of what wonders you can achieve with your merit.
