I think a sinking ship isn't a good metaphor for slowly succumbing to something. Being in a sinking ship is more like not realizing everything isn't fine, and then suddenly watching the world rip itself apart, pulling down everything and everyone you once knew with it, only to be left treading water with nothing, if you're lucky.

My personal take on AI

The thing I dislike about AI image generators is that I have boundaries and it breaks them. Usually online, when I want to be on a site without, say, gore and nudity, I can easily filter that out. Everyone knows what that looks like and I can decide to frequent places with good moderation that don't allow it. AI on the other hand is elusive. You can't tell what is and what isn't AI, and when I want to see nothing but human art, there's no way to guarantee it. When I find out, I feel betrayed. My boundaries were crossed and I didn't even know. That's the reason I dislike comparisons to the printing press and the camera, because those never had the same problem. If you were living in 1600, you could easily tell that the pressed typefaces weren't handwritten, and if you lived in 1880, you could easily tell that photography was not a portrait. I hate AI. It makes it harder to enjoy the rest of the art in the world and it takes away a little bit of the autonomy I am entitled to as a human. It makes the world a worse place. That's why I have such a radical stance about getting rid of ALL of it.
