I think this is a fitting first post. :) I've been catching up on WTNV since I started listening to it allll the way back when it began. Kevin is still my favorite ever. Nothing has changed. WTNV the podcast you are... Imperfectly perfect and normally odd.

I've been playing Splatoon since the very first game. And seeing my playable character in the first game reappear and grow in Splatoon 2 and 3, makes my heart clench with bittersweet joy because I grew up with them.

Splatoon grew and I also grew and I couldn't be happier to grow up together.

This isn't directed at anybody and I don't write fic but I am an avid reader:

To the folks that comment on Gender Neutral reader fics and ask for a fem version... Y'all. Us Queer Folks are lucky that there are GN Reader fics at all, let alone any Male reader fics. You are the majority!! I'm not mad I just don't understand. I do understand that its harder to immerse with if the reader isn't written as the same gender as yourself, but like, are we not capable of reading and filling in the things that would make it more relatable to you? In some small fandoms where Fem!Reader fics are all there is, I still read those, but just input the correct pronouns and such as I read it. And if you want a Fem!Reader fic, chances are you can probably find a similar fic with a similar trope or plot, unlike us, who have very limited options to begin with. You're welcome to read non-fem fics, of course, but maybe dont ask an author for a fem version.. or otherwise comment on how it's not a fem!reader? I don't know if getting comments like that might discourage a fic author from continuing to write non-fem reader fics you know?

Is this a problematic take? I'd love to hear some opinions on it

I'm not saying "Fuck you all for being ignorant and its not for you so you should get out of our space and read the fics that are for you" I'm saying, "Can we be respectful and mindful of other audience members and recognize that sometimes we aren't the intended audience and let those people have their thing?"

I've just started listening to the Welcome To Night Vale podcast, and I'm pretty sure that everyone in Night Vale only hates Desert Bluffs because they're the normal version of Night Vale.
