Vision figures it out first. He phases through the wall trying to find the kitchen, and stumbles upon you two kissing on your bed. He doesn’t move at first. He’s confused if anything else. “I’m sorry, I may have lost my way.”

“Can you leave?” You yell at him, throwing one of your decorative pillows at him while he phases back through the wall, apologizing.

You and Bucky talk to him later, begging him not to tell anyone. You both hope as a robot and not an actual human, he wouldn’t feel the need to gossip, but he’s already told Wanda. Not with bad intent, but he tells her everything.

You and Bucky talk in private. Maybe a team meeting would work? To tell everyone that you two are in a relationship, to get ahead of the problem so HR doesn’t have to reprimand you if they find out first. So Tony doesn’t get mad.

Later that day you overhear Wanda and a few other Avengers talking in the living room as you’re making a cup of tea. You don’t mind, but make a mental note that Tony isn’t there if she accidentally spills the secrets of your relationship. Natasha and Clint are there, though. That’s fine. They don’t have a lot of sway in the Avengers, unlike Steve. He can’t find out either.

Sam comes up behind you and pats your back. “So, you and Bucky, huh?” You choke on your tea. “Wanda’s been telling people all day,” he says. You look over to Wanda, and see a big grin on Natasha’s face. That’s not a good sign.

Steve sends out a team message. You pause before opening it. “Dear Avengers, team dinner tonight at 7 pm. Everybody bring a different dish and some wine. Sincerely, Steve Rodgers” You mentally face palm. A team dinner? That’s exactly the thing you needed the least right now.

You and Bucky haven’t talked all day, but both agree to sit as far away from each other at the team dinner to keep suspicion low from Tony and Steve. The dinner is quiet. Too quiet. Everybody is silent, apart from the small sounds of sipping wine and forks clinking on the plates. Wine was the last thing you needed right now. Usually it would be good for a relaxing dinner, but wine makes you chatty, and you can’t be spilling anything.

“So how was everyone’s evening?” Steve asked, taking a bite of his steak. Nobody replied. Bucky sighed and slouched in his seat a little bit, which didn’t go unnoticed by the other members. Steve looked around, curious. “What is wrong with everyone?”

“Just a long day,” you replied immediately, trying to change the conversation. Vision opened his mouth to speak but was met with a glare from Bucky. You take a small sip of wine and glance over at Bucky who’s clearly swearing to himself mentally.

“Why is everybody being so weird?” Steve asks again. He’s had enough and wants answers, which no one is going to give. The room is filled with so much tension, if there's any more questioning, you could pop like a balloon just from embarrassment.

“Can anyone tell me what’s happening?” He takes a big inhale. Tony interrupts Steve before he even has a chance to speak. “Vision, report on today’s events,” he says.

“Wednesday, August 15. Cloudy skies with a high of 85 degrees fahrenheit. Small corner store robbery at 59th, including 2 workers and 5 civilians.“

“Tell me Avengers news, what’s going on with the Avengers,” Tony breathes out. “What’s got a stick up their butt?” You stiffen in your seat.

“The members at the Avengers compound seem to be under high stress, especially James,” Vision reports. “And why is that?” You curse to yourself, preparing for what is to come. You know that one way or another, the news would come out. Sooner or later, whether it’s your choice or not. You and Bucky had agreed to keep it private, just for the time being.

You look at Bucky one last time, the last time you see him as a secret. You had both decided to keep it private. Not for the sake of the group or anything, you wished so badly you could be open with everybody. It’s the managers. The staff. They look at you weird, all the forms you need to fill out, and the breakup only requires more paperwork. And also lots of talks with the press to publicly announce your relations with the other member. From now on it would be HR managed, and every Avenger would be breathing up your back about it.

"I have been informed I am not allowed to speak about this topic, or the persons included,” Vision said, a blank emotion on his face.

Steve sighs and announces, "if nobody tells me who is in relations with Bucky, you will all be doing paperwork for the next 3 months.

“It's me," you whisper. You shut your eyes, expecting yelling to be coming both of your ways. But you were met with silence.

"How long has this been going on?" Steve asks, setting down his utensils to look directly at you.

"2 months," Bucky answered. You shut your eyes, expecting yelling to be coming both of your ways. But you were met with silence.

“This could not be a bigger surprise,” Tony whispered to himself.

“I thought it was pretty obvious,” Bruce said, mouth full of mashed potatoes and green beans.

“I for one am excited to see this journey with the two lovers! Cheers!” Thor exclaimed, throwing up his beer gauntlet. Tony sighed and puts his hands on his face in defeat.

“No more secrets between the members, alright?” Steve bargained. “If anyone happens to be engaging in any form of a relationship, come to me or Tony and we can fill out a form for HR. And don’t let this distract you from missions or other work events.”

YELENA

Yelena is the person that Bucky is closest to in the Thunderbolds. Sometimes he hopes that, just for a second, Yelena will morph into Nat and he can see her again. She just reminds him of Nat too much. Whenever Yelena is feeling insecure or nervous during a mission, Bucky makes sure to tell her that Nat would be proud of her. The Avengers were a team, but the Thunderbolts are a family, and Bucky is proud of Yelena for everything she’s done for this team. Bucky sees Yelena as a leader. This whole team is messed up, but she’s the most organized of them, and will sacrifice herself for the sake of the others. His respect for her has no bounds. Sometimes, as the unnofical leader, Yelena can be unsure of her choices for the team. Bucky reassures her, he tells her sometimes making choices is hard, especially when you have to think about the team as a whole, but tells her to go with her gut choices. If a genie were to ever give Bucky three wishes, his first wish would be to give the remaining 2 wishes to Yelena.

JOHN

Is still hesitant to see him as Captain America. Sam and Steve have played such an important role in his life so he’s quite wary of John. Bucky has always seen John as a puppet for the government, he sees John’s views more aligned with the government than anything else. This makes Bucky unsure of his role in the thunderbolt’s at first, since Steve used to stand on freedom and independence, and fought a civil war to protect these ideals. He’s slowly learning to trust John though. After everything they’ve been through, he knows it’s hard to go on difficult missions like this and fight people like Sentry. Whenever John gets too cocky, Bucky makes sure to put him back in his place. It works for a second, and John becomes a little irritated, but laughs it off. Bucky’s never joking about that. Even though Bucky is not the most fond of John, he’s known him the longest and seen his vulnerability and his willingness to change. For this reason, Bucky seems to gravitate towards sitting next to him during team dinners and movie nights.

BOB

Bob doesn’t have a spare key to Bucky’s house, but he is always welcome if he ever needs anything. He knows what it’s like to be an outcast, seen as a monster only causing pain to others. He is constantly reassuring Bob that what he’s doing is great. He tells him that the first step is always the hardest, and joining a group to help others is a sign Bob is a good person, even if he doesn’t see it. When Bucky gets sick, which is very rare, Bob is usually the first to convince him to go to bed. Bob is very observant (and also doesn’t want to get sick). He notices the small sniffles, the quieter mood, and when someone is unable to sit still. Bob is the only one that Bucky listens to when it comes to the small things like that.

ALEXI

Doesn’t see Alexi as a father figure, but if he needed father-like advice, he would go to Alexi. Alexi is always trying to convince Bucky to ‘get out there’ more, relationship wise and that Bucky is always quiet. Bucky has to remind him that he stole all the ladies hearts in the 40s, and that he just isn’t as interested anymore. Bucky respects Alexi, but can find him a bit loud sometimes. But that’s what makes him so loveable. He brings the light and the silliness to the team when they’re all feeling down. Alexi is always the first to wish Bucky a ‘happy birthday’ complete with a whole cake, presents, and surprise party. The first time this happen, Bucky almost threw his metal arm at them. He isn’t surprised anymore because it’s the same surprise every year, but he appreciates Alexi’s enthusiasm to bring a smile to Bucky’s face.

AVA

Finds her to be the most normal person on the team. He respects her, and is very impressed with her special powers. Ava isn’t the most outgoing, and Bucky appreciates that. Sure she can be loud sometimes, she can call someone out if she needs, but is quiet when it counts. They both love hanging out quietly at night, the city lights glowing into the tower. Both of them are asleep, but it’s the vibes the other brings that makes it so special. Bucky is usually always the first one there if Ava was ever in trouble. He knows trouble, he’s been the trouble, and he’s faced the trouble head on, and would never let Ava, or any of the members for that matter, face trouble as much as he did. Even though Bucky and Yelena seem to be the leaders of the group, Ava and Bucky are the most emotionally mature and give the most advice to the others.

OVERALL

Overall, he thinks the Thunderbolts make a good team. And he finds traits in them that are similar to the Avengers. Yelena obviously reminds him of Natasha. The same smile when she laughs and the small Russian accent that slips out when she's angry almost makes him cry. Her determination and love her family and friends really makes Bucky proud, and it would make Nat too. And Ava reminds him of Wanda. He sees them as both level headed, reserved, but can also be strong, courageous, and intelligent at times when needed. He finds that he's looking for traits of the people he used to love in people he's just met. He's looking for the Avengers in something that can't compare to him, like it's a healing tactic.

STEVE RODGERS:

A deep love and appreciation for him. Steve forces Bucky out the house for a brunch with some other Avengers. Bucky appreciates the effort. Thinks of Rodgers as very talkative and outgoing, and Bucky would listen to everything he has to Say. Loves Cap's rambles. Too much to say about this duo, and also no words to express how much they love each other. They would go to the ends of the earth for each other.

SAM WILSON:

Has disagreements sometimes, but is someone he can go to for a laugh. Even after a rough week, having a quick drink at the bar with Sam never disappoints in his eyes. Goes out for movies sometimes. Sam knows Bucky is a secret nerd so any new sci-fi or fantasy movie that releases Sam is quick to buy tickets for the two of them. Sam created a designated, secret escape plan for just the two of them if the compound was ever hijacked or compromised. Involves lots of grappling hooks and a surprising lack of Bucky's metal arm.

WANDA MAXIMOFF:

Bucky respects Wanda more than anything. Makes an unstoppable team during missions. Hangs out in the kitchen quietly during late nights. Bucky reads and Wanda bakes. He's her unofficial taste tester, and gives quiet feedback of the recipe as she continues. No words need to be spoken between them, but Wanda is someone reliable and predictable, something that Bucky appreciates in a person.

THOR ODINSON:

Someone he actually respects, despite Thor's silly and immature nature. Bucky respects his outspoken attitude that helps people get things done. Doesn't seek Thor out for conversation, but loves talking during the team dinner, at team BBQ cookouts, and while doing chores around the compound. Thor always sneaks Bucky an extra pop tart of his favorite flavor when he can tell he's going through a rough patch. Let Bucky attempt to pick up the hammer, and even though he couldn't lift it, Thor told him he's worthy in Thor's book. Tries to make Bucky laugh when he's sad, and it doesn't work but Bucky appreciates the sentiment.

CLINT BARTON:

Doesn't know much about him, but is jealous that he could settle down without any issues. Clint is both emotionally and mentally smart. When Clint gives advice or has ideas for missions, Bucky is quick to pay attention. When he can't turn to anyone else, he turns to Clint for support and forgiveness. Clint will keep Bucky’s secrets safe with him. He knows everyone’s secrets because everyone comes to him. Bucky also likes Laura and loves hanging out with the kids. Clint leaves the kids in Bucky's care when him and Laura go out for the night if he’s free.

BRUCE BANNER:

Bucky lets Bruce inspect his vibranium arm for practice. Surprisingly, Bucky agrees to let Bruce take it apart to study it as long as he put it back together. Both nerds, so they just gift each other books or book store gift cards. One time Bucky saw Bruce in a book club when he walked in and never walked back in. He was in that book club for 4 years, but not anymore. Bucky is not scared of many people, even Bruce, but Bucky knows that the Hulk could crush him in an instant so he doesn't go near him while he's angry. One time Bucky tried to read to Bruce when he was angry and he almost died.

SCOTT LANG:

Bucky thinks he's weird, a wild card in his book. He never knows what Scott will say next. It could be something super dumb, and very rarely will it be insightful and helpful to the mission. He's sort of a action man more than a words man. A man of many words and not many thoughts kind of thing. Bucky respects his powers, he thinks they're quite cool. He wishes he could just shrink and hide so no one could talk to him. Scott doesn't know what to give Bucky for his birthdays so he just gives him gum. Bucky now has a 'Scott Lang Gum Collection' in one drawer in his desk.

TONY STARK:

Always wants to apologize to Tony for assassinating his parents but can never find the words. Scared to apologize in person, so he writes letters but never sends them. Thinks Tony is pretentious and stuck up but has a little respect for him. Tony gave him a job, shelter, food, and a stable income so he appreciates that part of him. Doesn't understand how Pepper can deal with him sometimes. When Bucky is struggling, Stark puts in an extra bonus in his check. It's a small gesture, but it's Tony's way of saying he forgives him.

PETER PARKER:

Bucky thinks it's crazy a kid would willingly volunteer for something as dangerous as this. Thanks the universe Peter wasn't there to fight him when he was the winter soldier and that met him at a calmer time in his life. As far as the civil war goes, Peter is the only one on team Iron Man to actually interact with Bucky on a regular basis. Peter thinks he's the coolest guy, but comes in second after Iron Man. Peter loves his metal arm and always asks for stories about the winter soldier, which Bucky is hesitant to share. Bucky always gives Peter Birthday and Christmas presents because he never got that as a child and wants Peter to feel loved, respected, and welcome at the compound. Bucky regularly calls him 'champ' and ruffles his hair like a proud dad. At dinner, Peter makes an effort to sit in between Iron Man and Bucky.

NATASHA ROMANOFF:

He has the most respect for her. They've been in similar situations, and have an unspoken mutual platonic love for each other. If need be, they'd die to save the other. He was taught survival of the fittest, kill everyone else to save yourself, so without thinking, to save Nat, he would sacrifice himself. Nat is the only person who can touch his hair. She's good with styling, so he lets her put his hair into buns, braids, or ponytails for missions to keep the hair out of his face. Bucky frequently buys flowers for her but never says it's from him. Speaks Russian to each other when they don't want anyone to hear what they're saying. Most likely, making fun of Cap or Tony. Likes sparring together to see if they still have the power they did before when Bucky would sparr with her in the Red Room. If Nat ever had kids, she would leave her kids with Bucky because I think they would have similar parenting values and styles. Bucky would leave his kids with her if he could, but she gets nervous around them.

JAMES RHODES:

Doesn’t talk with him much, just small nods in the hallways, but would help each other with small tasks. They might do chores quietly together or make fun of Tony silently with small glances while he's being stupid. Rhodey gave Bucky a card for his birthday, no cash in it, and barely a long, sentimental note. Bucky appreciated it more than the other gifts that he was given and the half hearted 'Happy Birthday's from everyone else. He appreciates his bluntness and ability to say whatever he’s thinking. Rhodey always dares Bucky to eat almost inedible things like leaves or small fruit from bushes, which almost left Bucky in the infirmary.

VISION:

Someone he actively doesn't talk to. He's not scared of Vision, he just can't look at him without thinking that that was what HYDRA wanted to transform him into. A robot, a monster, a product of a crazy scientist. But vision wasn't that. Sure he might be 2/3 of that, but he was sane. He was calm, collected, and well respected. Bucky had never made an effort to talk to Vision, but wouldn't turn him away if Vision ever initiated conversation. He's the only person he didn't give a birthday gift because he didn't think he had any hobbies. I mean, what are you supposed to give a robot who does nothing all day?

— 𝜗𝜚 ࣪˖ ִ𐙚 while on patrol, the two of you encounter a small hoard in a gas station not far from jackson. confident you could take them out, jump off your horses to stake out the situation.

— 𝜗𝜚 ࣪˖ ִ𐙚 after killing the first two runners in stealth with your knives, more walked into the building from the back door. there were lots more than you originally thought.

— 𝜗𝜚 ࣪˖ ִ𐙚 they spotted you from the back rooms, screaming out and alerting the other runners and clickers of your appearance.

— 𝜗𝜚 ࣪˖ ִ𐙚 tears well up in your eyes from the stinging and aching pain, looking your arms and legs up and down, shocked at the sheer amount of wounds you had gathered in such a short time.

— 𝜗𝜚 ࣪˖ ִ𐙚 ellie hears your quiet sobs and lifts her head back up to look at you. after she sees your wounded state, stratches from the various runners and clickers scattered around your body, she drops the pistol in her hand and rushes over to you, crouching down to meet your height on the ground. the gun makes a loud clank on the ground, though not alerting any other infected in the area.

— 𝜗𝜚 ࣪˖ ִ𐙚 she scans your body for any bites or signs of infection and when she finds there is none, she pulls out her med kit she stored in her backpack and opens it, clicking the locks.

— 𝜗𝜚 ࣪˖ ִ𐙚 “thank you.” you whisper back, staring at her worried face quickly turn to relief as she sees that you’re okay. “i love you.”

— 𝜗𝜚 ࣪˖ ִ𐙚 “you usually don’t get sappy like this unless you’re actually dying,” she says, pouring some alcohol on the rag and patting it on your wounds.

— 𝜗𝜚 ࣪˖ ִ𐙚 “ellie.”

— 𝜗𝜚 ࣪˖ ִ𐙚 she pauses and looks up at you with a smirk on her face. “i love you,” she admits, giving you a small peck on your cheek and continuing her previous actions. she quickly wraps a bandage around it to make sure no dirt or bacteria gets into the stratches. she does the same for your arms, giving each one a small kiss after it’s wrapped.
