also hey can we talk about violent psychosis for a sec. cause i really appreciate all the talk surrounding psychosis positivity and stuff but a lot of it is "we're not all violent! sometimes hallucinations can be positive!" like sorry mine are not. im scary psychotic.
im "cant have anything that even remotely could be used as a weapon in the house" psychotic. im "if i miss my meds one day i have to go to the hospital for homicidal and suicidal thoughts that literally aren't my own thoughts but theyre controlling my actions" psychotic. im "im seeing horrors you cant even imagine to the point where i dont exist in the same world as you anymore" psychotic.
im not going to hurt you, i just need help. when im rocking in the corner talking to myself at 3am, remember that i am in a state of terror. im afraid for my life. i either genuinely believe everything is trying to kill me, and i only know one way to deal with it; or something is telling me to be violent or else it will kill me; or i have dissociated so hard that i autopilot myself to violence to try and wake myself up.
some of us are violent, and that's okay, because it has to be, because it's the truth. just get us help.

if you have violent intrusive thoughts I love you. if you have sexual intrusive thoughts I love you. if you have bigoted intrusive thoughts I love you. you are not your thoughts and you are worthy of love and care and help and affection. you are not a monster you’re a person going through it and that’s okay

isn't it insane though how schizophrenic people are viewed as violent and dangerous by the majority of society when in reality schizophrenic people are nearly 14 times more likely to be on the receiving end of violence than to be the perpetrators...

This! And if you don’t support liberation for all mad folk, you don’t actually support mad liberation!
I love my fellow psychotic folk!
shout out to psychotic people who struggle with anger. psychotics who get angry when they’re wronged, when they're scared, when they're overstimulated, as a response to emotion. psychotics who want to hit. who want to bite. who want to hurt. who want to scream and break things. who redirect with self-harm. who struggle to keep calm and keep it together. i love you. you deserve love and care to.

Npnp !!! :D and I’m glad you’re able to see that you did well!
Today doesn’t have to be good for you to give tomorrow a try. I know it can be unbearable, but you deserve to see better days.
So now I’m asking you to give tomorrow a try. You don’t have to think about it if it makes you nervous, just let the morning reach you.

Hey! I see you, and while it’s okay to struggle with holding onto hope, that doesn’t mean that hope isn’t there!
Even with chronic illness and disability: while your symptoms may be not cured, there’s always the possibility of them being managed!
But the first step to get there is to make it through today. I know it’s brutal, I know it’s draining. But, you can get there.
It’s going to be okay :) I trust that you can do it!
The first step is to just make it through today.
Even if it doesn’t immediately get better, you’re at least a day closer to feeling better (granted that you’re working on recovery of course, however that may look for you).
So again I ask, please give tomorrow a try. It could surprise you!

Things I’ve Learned as a Disabled Person
[Text without formatting: “Things I’ve Learned as a Disabled Person]
You did not commit a crime simply by being mentally ill or disabled!
You are not wasting anyone’s time or energy by simply existing as a mentally ill or disabled individual!
Please surround yourselves with love, support, and positivity whenever you find the opportunity!
You deserve compassion regardless of your symptoms or experiences!
You are not a monster or an abuser for being disabled or mentally ill!
You can and will find people who love and understand you, or at least try to understand to the best of their ability.
You can and will find people who support you, regardless of what that support looks like!
You do not have to need the same types of support as others. As long as you do what is best for you, that’s all that matters.
At the same time, it’s okay to need accommodations, no matter the type!
You can always work towards coexisting with others, and I hope that you will be surrounded by those who do the same for you!
You do not have to stretch yourself thin and overextend yourself to make others happy!
It’s okay to advocate for yourself! And, if you cannot do this because of your mental illness or disability, it’s okay to allow someone with your best interest in mind to advocate for you!
While you don’t need to force it (and it probably helps more not to force it), please hold onto the hope that things will not always be at their worst!
If it helps you and isn’t hurting anyone, it is nothing to be ashamed of!
Finding support is huge! It doesn’t have to be folks in your immediate area, online support is acceptable as well! What matters is that we are uplifting and supporting each other and ourselves.
There are so many things I’ve learned as a disabled person. I hope to learn many more
Please feel free to share what you’ve learned as well, or please share if you found any of this helpful! /not forced

Oh my gosh 😭 ❤️ thank you so much for the tag, this is super sweet! Also:
It’s great to see blogs I recognize from this list, and I will be checking out the ones I’m not so familiar with!
And by the way, you’re so right! This is a community, and I’m very much glad to have one that stands for unity and building each other up! :D
Lastly, I have to agree with what you said about starting this type of blog making it easier for oneself. I find myself feeling less alone, less terrible for suffering, and much more at ease with the situation at hand.
ive never seen blogs dedicated to schizospec/psychosis positivity, but i found this blog and i feel so seen and welcome! it makes me feel like im not alone in everything, so thank you :)
I'm happy to hear that!! But there are other blogs that contribute to the schizo-spec/psychosis positivity side of Tumblr and make me feel less alone in my experiences, here are my personal favorites @schizoetic @schizodiaries @schizosupport @schizo-vulture @thesoftpsychotic @psychosis--culture-is @psychotic-tbh @stargazingpsychotic
Starting this blog has helped me a lot with feeling less alone as well. Anytime people share that they relate to something I experience is so incredible. We are a community, and I'm glad we are able to find each other 😊

You don’t need to overcome your disability or mental illness to be “worthy”.
There’s a lot of focus on people “defying the odds” and showing that their disability “can’t hold them back”.
But here’s the thing... sometimes your disability does hold you back. Sometimes, no matter how much you want to, you can’t do some things.
Disabilities are disabling and you don’t need to pretend they’re not.
And it’s okay. You’re still worthy.

Hey there 😊 just wanted to say a thing quick.. 💖
If someone has schizophrenia/schizoaffective disorder or on the schizo spectrum, please do not say that they are gifted, that they’re clairaudient, telepathic or anything of that sort. I know you’re just trying to make sense of it all but please 💖✨don’t✨💖
It feeds into their hallucinations/delusions that they are experiencing and that is DANGEROUS to someone who is hallucinating *them already thinking that the voices are REAL, that they actually can read minds or that they are thought broadcasting and everyone can read their minds all while actually believing it to be real* and can lead to them thinking they have a gift and can lead to them putting themselves in danger by thinking that what they are being told while hallucinating is REAL because they “have a gift” or are “gifted”. I’ve been told this before early on when I was first diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder about 5 years ago I had to find out on my own with my diagnosis that not knowing what’s real and what is real is just apart of having this mental illness. We are not being haunted by demons or ghost’s, it is a mental illness just like anxiety or depression, and unfortunately we suffer from hallucinations, catatonia, depression, and labile affect(Inappropriate involuntary laughing and crying) amongst a lot more symptom’s, just like you take meds for anxiety and depression we also have to take medications, it is a mental illness and should be treated as such, with knowledge and treatment can help someone get clarity about their recovery and can help reduce their symptoms. Thank you for reading 💖✨😊

Does anyone else happen to have experience with this as well?
I’ve tried a teaspoonful of both but it wasn’t long enough for me to speak on it
I may look into it more but I’d also like to hear others’ thoughts too
Hi! I saw your ask to schizopositivity, and if this is incredibly unwanted feel free to just delete it.
I have schizophrenia & I found DBT to be miles more helpful for these traits than CBT.
If you can find a good DBT therapist and/or group, I highly recommend it. The hands on approach helped me learn how to cope with very specific issues I had, instead of just talking it out with someone who doesn’t really know how to help. DBT, imo, is all about learning to cope and it changed my life.
Wishing the best either way !
Wow, really? I hadn't thought about DBT for schizo-spec disorders. I know my therapist helps a lot of people with BPD, so she knows quite a bit about DBT. I could ask if we could do some more DBT skills.
Thank you so much!
