OH MY GWOD, THIS IS SO INTERESTING!!!

The Marauders fans who despise Rowling are ironically the ones that act like her the most. Rowling is the first to deem the Marauders as bad boys who are universally attractive to women (not really, prolly only to girls or women like her with unprocessed trauma), and that’s the crux of her writing, her personal issues and beliefs shaped HP since she started writing the books as escapism from her abusive relationship.

My impression of James as someone who doesn’t care for him in the slightest but also doesn’t favor Snape (I like him, he’s just not a personal favorite for me to be biased), it all comes down to Rowling’s writing and complicated relationship with her own feelings as an abuse victim, which makes James a character that not only looks like her ex husband but is idealized as this heroic figure during the first books only to be replaced by his abusive side, while at the same level his abusive tendencies are not to take seriously because she, the writer, still finds it attractive and her approach to James becomes too entangled and disconnected between books.

To me, James doesn’t feel like a character but a vehicle that says and does things for the plot to fall into place.

Similarly I see Snape as the projection of her abuse, he’s essentially an abuse victim that gets gaslighted at every turn and is written with so many feminine traits that it’s a slap in the face (I’m not saying that being reactive or perpetually hurt like Snape is wrong), but it’s Rowling who sees it that way and logically wants the narrative to see it too because that’s her unprocessed trauma rearing its ugly head.
