I really don't get how grown-ass adults on social media will really post "men be like," "women be like" or some other form of "cooties"-like speech with zero sense of irony. Like did they not grow up past grade 9?! How in the world do they function?! Do they just like... not have friends?! Do they believe bisexuals can't have ANY friends?!?!?!?

As a person who studies Psychology and Sociology, it's just concerning watching any sort of feminist or leftist discourse. I didn't expect we'd be straight up using conservative phrases so soon. "These people are born bad," "We need to stop coddling kids and toughen them up," "do your own research." I mean, we've already reached a point of using "young men" in the way the news uses it to describe a 12-year-old black kid who was murdered by cops.
As we know, Martin Luther King Jr.'s success was in being rude and uneducated, whilst also refusing to offer solutions or to educate! So many people say "white men" when they are often describing boys under 18, a lot of whom are coloured. I'm curious if they do this because they're genuinely ignorant or intentionally othering.
Labelling theory (severely simplified) tells us that constantly telling a population, "You're a criminal," will internalize this belief of their self-worth and be criminals.
4th wave feminism tells us that the patriarchy harms men too, and women have a hand in reinforcing the patriarchy. It's not like bell hooks is some fancy new speaker, these ideas are 25 years old! Thats plenty of time for any self-respecting progressive to learn about. So why does it feel like literally no one knows or respects her ideas?
Worst thing, Gen X (average age 45~) and Gen Alpha (average age 7~), are moving right the fastest. So midlife crisis and barely teens AT BEST.
In the end, people offer no solutions on purpose. It reinforces their belief that everything is fucked and they're poor progressives against the machine. It lets them feel like rebels in a dystopian movie, when in fact they're bystanders allowing fascists to win. Just because you reframe your complicity in fascism and the patriarchy as "leftist suffering" doesn't make it any less complicit.
Here's a kindergarten-level solution, since it seems we need it, practice basic empathy for people. Including those you don't agree with. Understanding why people do bad things is extremely useful. It allows for both intervention and preventive measures.

Something I've noticed within progressive circles is a sort of pseudo-tolerance of men's issues to appear nicer. I'm not referring to the treatment of domestic abuse, body shaming, or sexual assault because I've accepted that progressives will never meaningfully care about these issues regarding men in my lifetime.
I'm referring to venting/sharing your feelings. Even in its presentation, it wasn't really that genuine to me. "Women like guys who talk about their feelings." Like, don't vent because it's good for your wellbeing, do it because OTHERS want you to! Add in the pop-psychology idea that a man venting anything to anyone but a therapist is problematic and traumadumping, and you get a contradictory and confusing stew.
Oh, and if you share how badly sharing your feelings has gone, you'll just be victim-blamed or told to man up and get over it, but wokely. Even really GOOD male-focused feminist spaces end up presenting mental health as something you should ultimately be doing for others and not yourself. Not to mention, there's just a lack of acceptance that maybe some progressive people are still uncomfortable due to that whole "being raised in the patriarchy" thing.
The issue is a loop. It all just leaves me feeling a bit lost and hopeless.

I love that physical and mental traits I have are deemed to be creepy and evil by my fellow leftists. It was GREAT for me growing up to hear that being short, chubby, into games, and depressed meant I deserved less friends and love in general.
It was super cool that my first impression of leftists was the #KillAllMen """meme""". I find it so wonderful that every 3 months, progressives on social media try to wokely quote fucking crime statistics and sometimes just reinvent eugenics psychology.

I'm honestly super glad shows like Hazbin Hotel, South Park, and even Rick & Morty exist. I mean, they're important. They 'SCP' contain perhaps the most annoying fans and haters of fandoms. I'd much rather teenagers argue about those shows on the internet than have them trying to discuss like... Vinland Saga or Fear and Hunger.
Fear and Hunger's short period in the limelight proved that kids consuming things for adults are bad for more reasons than we think. We really misjudged how quickly they become uncritical Puritans about anything vaguely upsetting.
I can only imagine the claims those types would make about Vinland Saga. I'm mostly curious about what would get called problematic. Showing pacifism as imperfect? People shipping Canute and Thorfinn? Or maybe they'd call people who don't ship Canute and Thorfinn problematic! This is a terrible thought experiment.

I'm stooping to reblogging myself so people can hopefully donate money to my friend who wants to just survive.
No clue if this is wrong, especially since this is a writing blog but my best friend lives in the Deep South and I would like it if they didn't die and they would too. They have a gofundme and I'm posting it here.
Aside from this personal issue, for all those who are in more liberal states or in southern Canada, do what you can- even if it's just checking in on your friends a bit more often.

I love that Monster Hunter has decided to defeat gender and fix the, in my opinion, most valid critique of the games. No more shall your gender/body type restrict whether or not you get to dress slutty or armoured. The fact the producer showed off a buff man in a skirt on their stream was great.
In fact, I don't think any series has really given the male players skirts and skimpier options like Monster Hunter Wilds now has the potential to. It is a good time to be a hunter.

It is genuinely interesting how some online leftists will fully admit to being the "offended about anything," shitty right-wing strawman.
Conservatives will be spit on, belittled and demolished ideologically in 99% of the media they enjoy yet somehow force themselves to love it. Online leftists will play Gay Anal Yuri Simulator and complain it's too neoliberal and problematic then tweet "if you like this, die." I promise it's ok to like "not left enough," things like Persona 5 and Fallout.
As an aside, enjoying some problematic things isn't that evil either. Like, enjoying H. P. Lovecraft's work is fine. I am an adult, and I have the critical thinking skills to disagree with Lovecraft's message in Call of Cthulhu that "all immigrants are secretly evil warlocks." Not touching living artists/grifter discourse here, but if they're dead with an estate that doesn't donate to Murder Children Inc. it's fine.

The Soul
The soul is the origin of magic and is why anything exists, just as vital as blood and water. While idle in many, some creatures like Unicorns and extinct dragons have organs contributing to their ecological niche. However, no person is naturally born with a fire-sparking organ anymore. Instead, the world's mages must directly manipulate their soul to cast. Prayer, ritual, education, chance, people find many ways to do this.
Souls are defined by their density, changing from person to person. Usually found in the magically proficient and gifted, a dense soul has telltale qualities. Dense souls sink in water like heavy iron. Though the sea swallows them, nature itself receives them better. Animals don't flee, and dense souls find it easier to communicate with the forces of nature. Thin souls are too the result of magical manipulation, but indirect, 'magical scarring' left by being attacked or channelling a diety's power. They are rejected by the sea, unable to dive and spat out. Creatures either avoid or seem blind to the existence of thin-souled folks.
A soul can gain more rare issues and quirks. For example, too much channelling leads to Evolgified Soul Malady. The afflicted begin to develop traits of whatever magic they used their body to channel. Horns, extra eyes, pupils changing, new limbs and even changes in one's personality can occur. This is due to how energy is burned from the soul when magic is used, so pieces of the entity channelled may begin to replace the host's soul. This is a slow process that has no cure yet. Aside from changes to appearance and mind, the body will often identify the foreign soul mass as a disease and end up killing the afflicted or weakening the host enough for total soul replacement.

I decided to work on more background detail and will be doing the races, magic and other fundamentals of my world! :3 . Comment and whatever and stuff I dunno how to use Tumblr.

Dan Olson's new video has made me incomprehensibly sad in this weird way I can't fully explain. The only thing that comes to mind is "oh..." in disbelief and reflection. I guess as someone who wants to create things, Olson's insecurities are sympathetic.
A lot of guys I know, including me, are walls emotionally. Seeing someone who inspires me and I thought had it all figured out like this is disarming. It feels like my front door told me it was cold and tired. I feel seen by his issues. Yet, they've made me think, "If he has these issues, what chance do I have?"
Probably one of the best video essays I've seen. I feel like I'll be thinking about it forever.

For a personal worldbuilding project, I wrote a god based on a feature in a certain game. People seem to like it, and I gave it an extremely mild update that made me want to post it.
"Spinal Cord is an entity that pervades all thought. She exists within parts of thought and visits the subconscious. Spinal Cord isn't bound by time. It's said she occasionally passes through or imparts an epiphany upon mortals. Believers claim they'd feel a shiver, and suddenly gain knowledge to help them or learn something so far in the future it makes them feel helpless. She's oddly benevolent, in a way that makes one wonder if she's aware she holds this power. Visualizations of her look insectoid and alien, with limbs like single strands of dull blonde hair."

So I made this weird ass family tree 3 years ago when I started worldbuilding. I don't know why exactly...
Like I get what story is being told via this tree, but I honestly haven't used this much. I think I'll try to since I don't hate it, but I hope to god I have the original files so I can edit this. Any suggestions are good :#

Kendrick: "You're a creep"
Drake: "I NEVER touched Millie!" (Proceeds to make jokes about boys being molested.) Admitting things unprovoked is crazy.
"Whoever leaked the info is a snake and a clown! Also, that was me who leaked the info!" His ghostwriters mixed up the narrative from Reddit. Too lazy to screencap it but he also compared himself to Epstein unprovoked as well, despite the comparison K.Dot making being Weinstein lol.

Drake's new track is a massive self-own. He shows us he doesn't have the reading comprehension to understand the K.dot song, "Mother I Sober," and Drake's angle is to... make fun of boys who've been raped/molested. Even if he isn't all Kenny says he is, those lyrics alone are enough reason to never support a man again. Seriously, disgustingly bad response. Imagine publically announcing you laugh at child rape victims. The annoying part is his fans will eat this up.

It's been a second since I posed. I wrote an article for Shatterthrone on war and how each culture in my world views it! It's not the shortest one, but hey, it felt important to write.
A bit related, I started watching Vinland Saga and remembered the last cultural trope I forgot to include that I left out. I wanted to establish my main two continents first, but maybe I'll work on that new continent/collection soon! Also, Dune pt.2 came out which is cool, it's been a minor inspiration, but weirdly enough, it isn't as big for me nowadays.

Everything living in this world has a soul, and all souls are magical. The density and size of a soul can change, but generally, mortal creatures have similar-sized souls. You get magic by exchanging energy from your body, soul and am "exchange" as shown above. I'll TL;DR each exchange here, but my linked post has far more details.
Amygdalic is using emotional energy with your soul and physical energy. Transactional is using thematic items to create an effect. Materia is turning one item into raw energy and then to another thing. Symbolic is weaving a web to create magic with your soul. Divine is using godly energy/blessings. Primordial calls upon nature and energy that existed before most souls.
