Existence is cruel at times. The shift from pure, innocuous joy to an agonising war zone of the mind is frightening.

I think I will just indulge in you from the shadows, that way I can inflict no pain upon you, I will admire you and lust for you from afar because my touch has a tendency to corrupt. Your skin is too perfect for me to taint. Even if that isn't the reality, and my touch is only ever a touch, in my mind, my perception remains the same. Isn't it just so much easier to feel and never speak of them, never utter them into existence, so that reality can't pollute the purity of them. Maybe it's for the best that our skin should never meet, because what if we stuck around too long, and never learned to separate. What if you became me and I became you? Our souls enmeshed, entwined, and linked for the rest of time itself and even well beyond the veil and linearity of time. It's just easier to not feel, it is easier to be alone, it is easier to be a rigid case of concrete. Human cinderblocks, or a man encased in emotional ice. It is easier. Perhaps it's for the best. We want so much to be this roman candle of feeling, but oftentimes the light is too apt to blind you and obscure the source of the truth, the emotion, itself.

Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show

If you’re heading out of town, do NOT ask me to look after your plants or garden - I’m one of those plant killers 😂🤦‍♀️

So then why did I attend the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show? Well, I do have a genuine appreciation and passion to support those who excel at what they do, especially if it’s out of my skill range or even taste. I also do think 💐 are just so beautiful ���

I didn’t engage a great deal with the plant/garden displays. Speaking candidly - despite immense affinity to support, when your interest isn’t aligned, the inquisitiveness won’t be as prominent. Nonetheless, I showed and enjoyed my appreciation through some gazing and walk throughs.

Notable discoveries for me:

@onamelbournecandles Powerful fragrances through perfumes, room sprays and candles that shine through their glass designs (literally).

@oshi_au Quality pieces that can really bolden a space with their presence. I truly felt the story behind each of these works.

The competitions - hanging baskets, hanging installations, scarecrows and student crafts showcasing the vast talent and hard work out there.

Blonde Design ring making class 💍

This was such a fun experience. Despite not being artistically adept, I thoroughly enjoyed a preview into the ring making process. My already present appreciation for jewellers has expanded even further. I think I will stick to just being a buyer though - I'll leave construction to those with the flair for design! 🤣

Golden Hour, Vol. 1 – Santino Le Saint

A delicious build-up, but an even tastier release 👅🔥

Santino Le Saint every time – how many genres you want? Yes.

Groovy + hard hitting beats, dirty guitars mixed with emotive ones, peanut butter vocals and cutting lyrics. The Tino team continues to raise the bar every time, constantly reaching new highs even while singing about lows.

All of the influences and experimentations combine so well here. The nods to earlier works through either lyrical references or resembling compositions capture the essence of Santino Le Saint while exploring new realms.

There’s a song for every mood here – brooding, headbanging like a rockstar or shaking that 🍑 Yes, even with the poignant lyrical content.

What a privilege to witness the progression in artistry – hearing the potential being reached all over from the vocals, production, lyrics, subject matter. All of this was present earlier, but the ongoing development leaves me awestruck.

I could divulge my thoughts and feelings on every track, but there are not enough words so here’s a few honorary mentions:

• Dr. Knockout 🥊 and Just Drive with the callbacks – a renegade lifestyle and of course a bullet 🔫 with my name on it.

• Heart Attack – comparable to the likes of a big MJ-Weeknd number, but Santino style 😜 Absolutely bodied it and made it your own. So nasty 🥵 Y’all went absolutely feral on this one.

• I Already Know – I thought I had found my wedding song, but now I have found it.

This is not an album that can sit in the background while completing other tasks - it demands undivided attention. I’ve failed to get on with tasks while listening to it 🤣

Congratulations to all the collaborators on an outstanding piece of work. You should all be so proud and inspired to keep on going.

RISING Festival 2024

I hadn't heard of this festival until this year. I didn't get a chance to attend as many events as I'd liked, but I really appreciated the gesture and endeavour to improve my attendance next year.

Melbourne is a city that thrives off of artistic energy. Hosting an array of different creative fields in the city (both paid and free events) provided pleasure. I feel immense joy knowing that artists have the capacity to express their gifts, as well as having them celebrated by the city and perhaps even inspiring attendees to follow suit.

To conclude, "RISING UPCYCLE DAY 2024" is a fantastic initiative that encourages creatives to collect items that will not be re-used by the festival, in the hopes of re-homing or re-purposing them.

Clockwork, Santino Le Saint: A few thoughts.

Aligning with the title, I've had this track on repeat like clockwork since I first played it.

Hearing it for the first time inspired me to write this little piece, to explore my audiophile tendencies beyond mere listening. I've always had a grand appreciation for music and dreamed of working or contributing to the field in some manner; a quarter life crisis and trying to make a living realistically stand as my hurdle. Clockwork really invigorated the need to express my feelings around this release.

I've been a Santino fan since 2018; Clockwork displays his artistic growth while also respecting his roots. I always describe his style as the perfect amalgamation of RnB and Rock, or RnB infused Rock. Clockwork perfectly captures that through a current, hard hitting beat (produced by himself) and distinct Tino guitars. Combined with his soulful, soothing voice, he never fails to convey his musical story and emote a response from the listener.
