Random TGCF idea I had:

AU where every God has certain animals that represent them (similar to some Greek Gods who are represented by certain types of birds, snakes, etc), and they can turn into these animals/have a familiar of said animal and can control it.

The most obvious one is XL, considering he's confirmed to be a ferret, so imagine him with a little mischievous ferret that can deliver messages, spy for him, and plays with spiritual weapons like ruoye and e'ming.

Idk if it's that good of a concept, just a silly one I thought of while lowkey half asleep...

I’m sorry, but do people not realize that Jiang Cheng’s actions led to direct, causal consequences? Jiang Cheng lets his petty insecurities get to him, which leads to:

him publicly abandoning Wei Wuxian, openly declaring him as an enemy to the (orthodox) cultivation world, and withholding why he owed a debt to the Wen siblings because “tired baby is cranky baby,” while at the same time…

not completely cutting off contact but, instead, covertly helping sneak Jiang Yanli to Yiling to show off her wedding gown, giving Wei Wuxian the false impression that he was still conditionally welcomed enough that it would be safe to accept the invitation to Jin Ling’s one-month celebration, and these first two points lead to…

the Jin Clan feeling comfortable enough to ambush him on the way to said one-month celebration, because they were both positive that Wei Wuxian would show up AND assured that no one would be around to defend him. Jin Guangyao takes advantage of this to kill off Jin Zixuan. That’s one parent down, and the consequences of this are…

…now an unjustifiably angry Jiang Cheng, rather than staying behind to comfort his grieving sister and fatherless nephew, attending the murder banquet, showing a united front to all other clans that Wei Wuxian is neither supported nor welcome. He provides no explanations in neither Wei Wuxian nor the Wen siblings’ defenses, and when Wei Wuxian shows up to said murder party, he keeps silent as Wei Wuxian is verbally AND physically attacked, making no attempts at diplomacy or de-escalation because he doesn’t view this battle as affecting him (because correct me if I’m wrong, but Wei Wuxian’s corpses don’t attack the Jiang disciples at this moment). Which leads to…

Jiang Yanli running onto an active battleground to find Wei Wuxian and, eventually, giving her life for him.

Then as a little treat, instead of Jiang Cheng taking responsibility for his hand in how all of these events played out, he instead teaches his orphaned nephew that Wei Wuxian intentionally killed both of his parents in cold blood and that this young child should kill anyone who reminds Jiang Cheng of Wei Wuxian, grooming the kid into his tool of vengeance. Guanyin Temple is the only moment where he drops the facade that this was ever about Jin Ling, when he basically says “You took everything from me and left me with this orphan” pointing directly at Jin Ling and causing the kid to deflate.

This is also what I mean when I say that Jiang Cheng is a follower who wants to be treated like the leader be refuses to be. He wants to play both sides��posturing to the cultivation world that he’s cut all ties with Wei Wuxian with that staged fight but then sneaking Jiang Yanli to him when she asks, siding with the cultivation world wanting to exterminate the Wen remnants and shun Wei Wuxian at the emergency conference but telling Wei Wuxian that he’s there for the latter’s “benefit”—because he never wants to make a decision that can be confidently placed on his own head. He wants the benefit of actions he didn’t take—“why am I not being praised as if I killed the xuanwu of slaughter when I led the search party afterwards?” “I’ll take credit for killing Wei Wuxian even though I literally didn’t.”—while shoving all of the responsibility to others—“you repaid my debt to the Wen siblings, so that’s your bad luck,” “you almost died to save everyone in the cave and now the Wen are knocking on the door, so that’s your bad luck, nevermind that I also tried to kill Ling Wangjiao in that same cave.”

Jc stans are a constant refrain of, “Looks guys, he didn’t repay his debt to the Wen at the cost of everyone else’s ire, that was Wei Wuxian! He didn’t lead the ambush and host the banquet, that was the Jin! He’s just a hapless baby, a widdle guy! He’s only there for numbers! He’s only there for face! Nothing is ever his fault!” when truthfully, most of the events of the story past the war are directly his fault, and that’s why he has not a damn thing to say when Jin Guangyao calls him on it.

I hate that TGCF isn't as accepting of a fandom as SVSSS.

Cause in SVSSS you can say shit like: "I ship the MC with the father of his canon love interest." and the fandom will nod and go: "Yeah makes sense I like it".

But in the TGCF fandom you can say: "I ship the MC with his two first friends, who've stood by him in his early days, but they were tragically torn apart by fate, causing everyone to go their own paths and only meet again after decades, yet the two friends felt immense regret for their departure and decided to stand by the MC once again and protect him, as they've secretly tried doing through the decades they haven't been with eachother." and the fandom will go: "How dare you destroy the pairing of MC and ML. How dare you have other opinions. How dare you ship something that makes sense and is healthy."

And that's just sad. Because I can't just say stuff like: "Yeah XL should be PM's and SWD's Sugar Baby as a treat lol" or "He deserves to be loved so he should have a harem anyways lmao" without THOSE fans crawling on my ceiling at night ready to assassinate me.

Especially in a work as shipable as TGCF.

Qi Rong headcanon time!! Except I basically just entirely rewrite him as a character because his canon writing lwk sucks imo sorry 😭😭

The way I view, or I suppose write? Qi Rong is very canon divergent, but I try to make him more logical yet still damaged/insane. First of all, I do not agree with him being a bad dad to Guzi. Due to his past, I write him more as a kind of awkward, yet very caring, almost overprotective father. He was abused by his own father, so naturally, he'd take it a little over the top with trying to protect his own son as to not make the same mistakes. Guzi hides in his oversized, luxurious robes, and Qi Rong would rip your hand off if you tried to take him out, hehe.

Secondly, I try to relate him more to his title. As "The Night-Touring Green Lantern", I try to lean more into that idea when I write him! It's kind of complicated, but basically I headcanon that he's actually a ghost fire, and he puts that ghost fire form into a lantern, thus making him a *green lantern*, ya feel? The way he switches bodies inspired this, I believe that as long as the lantern is held by a body, whether it be fake or real, he can possess it and use it as his own until it dies, then he switch forms. He can leave the lantern as a ghost fire, but he wouldn't be able to possess anything. It's a good spying technique though 👀

Third, you know his ghost servants? I believe they're other ghost fires, or lost souls that he guides with his lanterns. He knows what it's like to be a lost, resentful spirit, so he tries to guide the other spirits. Sometimes he can help bring them peace, but if he can't, he makes them into lanterns and they work for him as a sort of "thank you" for helping them. They also go out and guide other spirits.

Fourth (can you tell I love this guy?), this might not be exactly a headcanon, but I don't exactly see him as the villain in his dynamic with Xie Lian. When the war happened, he was canonically left behind, no shit he's pissed at Xie Lian. I don't exactly think Xie Lian is bad here either though; the responsibility of raising Qi Rong was put on him since an early age, he was tired of it 😭 Qi Rong was also obviously losing his mind, so taking him wouldn't have been ideal. Leaving him to die in the ruins of Fiance was incredibly cruel though. I just added this here because I think Qi Rong is a bit too demonized in their dynamic.

Fifth, more on that part, I believe in his time after Xie Lian and the rest left, that was when he gained his cannibalistic tendencies. He was hiding from Yong'an soldiers, who were stated to be murdering all nobles of Xianle, and likely didn't have much access to food. He ate the bodies of those who had already died in the war to live. But it didn't last long, and he ended up being executed by the Yong'an soldiers, leaving him as a lost spirit.

Like I said, very canon divergent! But I just really wanted to expand upon his character, because I felt there wasn't much depth to him in the novels if ykwim. It's been a while since I actually read the novels, so if I got anything wrong, I apologize!

Overall, I just write him to be more empathetic and depressed lol he's my pathetic baby boy <33

In my mind SQX and HX, because of the switched fates, have the traits of what their original fates were. Much like a ghost, SQX is always just a bit too cold, and it's also notable just how pale he is. His eyes look a bit empty too. While HX still has warmth to his body, and a nice tan to him. He's the Earth God, it's probably from all the time he must've spent out in the sun. It's one reason why no one really thought anything was off with him.

I also believe ghosts don't have functioning organs and such, hence why HC never really minds the taste of XL's colorful "cooking", if you can even call it that. In this context, it's still swapped for SQX and HX, as HX reacted harshly to XL's cooking, while SQX was more worried about HX knocking out. He couldn't taste the dish well, and reacted more based off HX's own reaction.

It's just an interesting headcanon to me, one of my favs!! Probably not an original headcanon, but I've never seen anyone talk about this so ┐(´∀｀)┌
