"Feast your eyes! Glut your soul on my accursed ugliness!"
Last October I took it upon myself to do several horror themed looks, and seeing as I had done the Frankenstein monster, I knew another Universal monster like The Phantom was necessary.
This makeup was all done with old school out of the kit techniques, using tape and glue to pull back the nose, building up the cheeks with wax, and stippling on latex for texture.
The makeup was then painted with multiple eyeshadow and cream paints to give it the proper dimension.

With Spooky Season nearly in full swing, I saw this as a perfect excuse to finally do an application I've wanted to do forever, Frankenstein's Monster, inspired by the 1931 classic.
I found this foam latex prosthetic forehead from Woochie FX and made a pair of neck bolts from wooden dowel wrapped in aluminum tape for that metallic finish.
The makeup was a combination of Kryolan watercolors, creams, and eyeshadows, and the costume was finished off with some sports padding to bulk me up, a black suit, zombie gloves and platform boots to give me a truly monstrous stature.

If it's in a word or in a look, you can't get rid of The Babadook.

Welcome to my nightmare!
Freddy Krueger is my all time favorite 80s slasher, and one of my earliest horror cosplays.
Of course, his infamous scared visage is a huge obstacle for a proper Freddy cosplay, and unless you can afford to spend hundreds on the perfect makeup, masks are your best option, and even then your budget options are limited.
I got very lucky and found this foam latex mask from Greyland Film which perfectly captures Robert Englund's likeness, especially after giving it a repaint.
The glove was also made from scratch out of aluminum (And it took me over five years to get around to finishing).

"I am... Dracula."
To kick off the Halloween season, I've decided to channel my inner Bela Lugosi and do the iconic Count Dracula from the 1931 classic.
This was such fun to wear, as I'm a massive fan of vintage formal wear, and the makeup was one of the things I was looking forward to the most as well.
These photos were shot at the gates of Bohemian National Cemetery in Chicago, the perfect location for such a macabre character.

"I bring you love!"
The Springfield Files may be my favorite episode of The Simpsons, and it probably scared me much more than any Halloween episode.
Alien Mr Burns absolutely TERRIFIED me as a child, so I decided to confront my childhood fears and cosplay the "alien".

"I'm a survivor, I'm not gon' give up, I'm not gon' stop, oh
I'm gon' work harder, I'm the survivor, I'm gonna make it, I will survive, keep on survivin'"
This quarantine has got me hungry for more adventure movies, and as such more adventure cosplays, so I figured I would get to work on Lara Croft, the ultimate adventure girl.
I had been planning this cosplay for quite a while and it was jump started when I found that wooden bow at the thrift store.

"You are deluded, Captain. You pretend to be a simple soldier, but in reality you are just afraid to admit that we have left humanity behind. Unlike you, I embrace it proudly. Without fear!"
This was one of my biggest undertakings in a while, Johann Schmidt, or Red Skull from Captain America.
This was a project I had been working on from late spring to early summer, constantly debating exactly how I'd like to go about this, choosing between doing a mask or doing makeup, and ultimately I decided it would be best if I put my skills to the test and made a full head latex mask from scratch.
The mask was first sculpted in water based clay, molded with Ultracal 30, then cast in mask latex from Kosart Effects, and finally painted.
I'm not entirely satisfied with the end result, but I am certainly proud of it and very happy with this being my first ever full mask.

"In a sequentially ranked hierarchy based on level of critical importance, the disparity between us is to vast to quantify. Agent Stone?"
"The doctor thinks you're basic."
Ever since I saw Sonic the Hedgehog in theaters months ago I was planning out a Doctor Robotnik cosplay, and was hoping to debut it at Anime Central.
Then the pandemic happened.
So I've been sitting on this one for a while and a few weeks ago finally found the time (and the weather) to shoot it, and I'm extremely happy with how it turned out. I'm just sad I didn't get to wear this to a con.
I also couldn't pass up the opportunity to model the flight suit while I still had the makeup on. I bought this racing suit months ago for this exact purpose, originally hoping to wear this to ACEN.
Sometime soon I'd love to do the disheveled look from the very end.

"You lost today kid. But that doesn't mean you have to like it."
Recently I decided I wanted to do a quick cosplay of River Phoenix as young Indiana Jones from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
The pants are antique jodhpurs from 1910, and the shirt is a WWII era field shirt from the 1940s.

I just hope my death makes more cents than my life.
Here's my Arthur Fleck cosplay from C2E2. I had previously done this Joker at Daisho Con last year in November, and I decided to update it accordingly for C2E2 with an all new suit, wig, and revised makeup. I know I was one of many, many Jokers there this year, but it was a blast.

As soon as the shelter in place order was issued in Illinois I immediately got to work on collecting all the right elements of a plague doctor uniform.

"The horseman comes! And tonight he comes for you!"
To pass the time during quarantine I decided to put together an Ichabod Crane closet cosplay from Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow.
I couldn't pass up the opportunity to go into the nearby forest preserve to shoot it.

"This is the way."
I never did get around to posting my Mandalorian cosplay I had assembled for C2E2. I'm so glad that was the last convention I was able to attend before the pandemic.
The costume was assembled over the course of a month from thrift store garments, foam fabricated pieces, repurposed costume parts, and a modified helmet. Most importantly though, is The Child, made from a baby doll with a new head sculpted from foam clay.

"Good afternoon, gentlemen. First off, I鈥檇 like to thank this board for taking the time to hear my proposal.
Now, we鈥檝e all heard of the legend of Atlantis, a continent somewhere in the mid-Atlantic that was home to an advanced civilization possessing technology far beyond our own that, according to our friend Plato here, was suddenly struck by some cataclysmic event that sank it beneath the sea.
Now, some of you may ask, why Atlantis? It鈥檚 just a myth, isn鈥檛 it? Pure fantasy. Well, that is where you鈥檇 be wrong."
I recently had the chance to do a photoshoot at the Field Museum of Natural History as Milo Thatch and I could not have been happier with the photos from my lovely friend Sen.

What's this?
What's this?
There's color everywhere!
What's this?
There's white things in the air!
What's this?
The streets are lined with little creatures laughing, everybody seems so happy, have I possibly gone daffy, what is this?!
What's this!

You thought we could be decent men in an indecent time...but you were wrong! The world is cruel. And the only morality in a cruel world is chance. Unbiased, unprejudiced, fair.
Two Face makeup and costume that I did for Halloween at Kryolan City Chicago.
This look features a custom bald cap appliance, as well as two latex prosthetic pieces from Woochie FX. The whole thing was build up with Kryolan liquid latex and then painted with Kryolan Aquacolor and Supracolor.
