I'd love to hear more about the mcs for Damnation

So the only other MC's I can really talk about are from Scarabia and Pomefiore, since Ignihyde and Diasomnia are currently still in the works.

Vassal!MC. This, like King!MC, I had a lot of references for and I knew what I wanted from the very start. I wish I could've executed it better, but I digress. Like some of the other MCs, I had a lot of good references to refer to, such as the original animated film which I took for personality, some live-action scenes inspired certain scenes I wrote, and the voice actor was a great comedian who I enjoyed watching. Out of all the MC's, I had the most material to work with here. I wanted someone annoying, wretched, that would not be intimated so easily and could stand Jamil's harshness. One scene I looked to often but unfortunately didn't get to inspire a written part off of, was this one, which showcases the friendliness Jamil would have with MC as they plot.

Retainer!MC. Another MC I had a lot of creative freedom with. However, I think this one I did much better on, when compared to Diviner!MC. At first I was uncertain about basing the role off the raven, purely because the raven played such an insignificant role in the original animated film. However, I watched a video that pointed out that the raven was the sole being the Queen talked to a lot, especially when brewing the poisoned apple. Almost treating it like a confidant. So, I decided to implement that idea, by making MC a trusted figure close to Vil. Further expanding the plot by including the crimes Vil has committed just to make sure Neige never gets the crown, helped to cement this role into something solid and unique. I'm really glad I went this route, because for a very very brief time, I considered another huntsman like Rook, but ultimately I scrapped the idea because one huntsman was enough.

Is it weird that I headcanon the readers from each damnation story to all be part of the same crew? Like fantasy Ocean's 11.

I know that you said they did different crimes that determined which story they ended up in but I think of it as a group project and each one being more responsible for a specific aspect of the team's crimes.

And I say Ocean's 11 but less intentional and with more shenanigans. Like it started with a plan to blackmail a small-time politician but then they accidentally killed him and had to cover it up. From there things kept spiraling out of control until the damned are known worldwide as a group of cold hearted monsters who masterminded the downfall of a government.

Also none of them will accept blame for how wild things got. Each of the readers think they were the only sane and reasonable one of the team and they are all wrong.

I'm gonna be real with you and say I have no idea what you're talking about but I think I understand the gist of it?

oh! i got a question. have you ever considered writing about a significantly older yandere?

this was slightly inspired by the staff question and i was like "yeah people dont writd much for trein let alone romance" 🤔 but i get that it may be too icky for folks.

but you write yans in a very...emotionally intense but not really "spicy" way and definitely to make the horror very apparent in tone. so i was wondering if an older yan would also be something you'd consider to do or if it'd be just a "platonically toxic and suffocating relationship"?

Oh yeah, definitely. I'd be okay with writing the staff as platonic yanderes. I think I wrote something with that concept, but it was more like hcs and it was a while ago? Maybe I'd even be willing to do something like that but with damnation, who knows? Just ideas to toss about and let simmer in the mind.

the damtion series, did you have a different version when you were thinking about it? That is to say, what ideas did you have to add and what things did you discard for the different stories, villains, MC?drafts? I'm interested in knowing what you would have added or what you didn't add, the ideas that you were going to put in but in the end you discarded.Sorry if my question is not understood 😅.

There's not a lot that I can think to add that I didn't mention in an ask I answered not that long ago. The only thing I haven't really mentioned (I think) is that I first thought of having certain stories span over years.

For example, Savanaclaw. Technically the original story spanned over years, and so I thought that maybe I would write that as well. But ultimately, I opted against that because I felt that it might complicate some things, namely how the MC would act and how the other characters would act.

Also, that idea I offhandedly mentioned in the other reply where I first thought of making Diviner!MC in the role of Azul's apprentice.

Hello !! I just wanted to say that I managed to stumble over here after a recommendation from a friend for the damnation au and OH MY GOD I LOVE IT SM ??

I got the hyena chieftain as a result first, read it and instantly put it in my likes bc I loved the way you wrote it and the characterisation!! I've gone back and read every one but the octavinelle and scarabia one for now but I'm still excited to read them ദ്ദി ( ᵔ ᗜ ᵔ ) !!

I'll venture back here with some art eventually but your writing is insanely good and I can't wait for more !!

I hope you have fun reading the remaining results! I actually wrote like nearly five pages for the Ignihyde result yesterday. So that's coming along nicely. Additionally, I had some time to brainstorm ideas for Diasomnia, which I noted down. But I'd like to hopefully finish writing for Ignihyde before starting Diasomnia, or at least come close to finishing. But anyways.

I’ve read all of the damnation so far and I have to disagree that there are bad cookies anywhere! I think it’s more that they’re both very good (coming from a literature major!) but certain dorms/characters are just more popular than others therefore it looks that way (Vil <3 and then heartstabyl is just the most popular dorm flat out. Riddle has beaten Malleus in the international character votes by a good amount multiple times.)

Really? Riddle has beaten Malleus? That's incredibly hard to believe, because everywhere I look there are Malleus simps. Malleus and Vil posts seem to be the most popular, at least from what I've seen.

Anyways, kinda getting off topic there. I think it's kinda huge that I'm getting praise from a literature major, so thank you! Maybe it's just me being hard on myself again, idk.

Yeah, so I would like to finish the story eventually, but it's currently low on the to-do list. Also, I'd really like to rewrite it because personally, I think a lot of it is cringe. Keep in mind, I came up with the concept and began writing for it sometime back in 2017.

Hello shiny!! i was scrolling on tiktok and stumbled upon a slideshow post (its from a trend actually) the ''You say you know yourself; what are you choosing?'' and it immediately HITS me with a ''to be able to hate them without the guilt of knowing they suffered too'' or ''to be able to forgive them without it feeling like a betrayal to yourself'' and i first thought: ''this is so twst imposter au in shiny's version'' just want to share it with you and get it out there lol

I actually have not come across this trend at all, so I had to look it up. Part of me doesn't get it, so I'll look at it again. But thank you for sharing!
