Season of the Draconid

Chest 1: As surely as the sun rises with each day, people deathly afraid of dragons. That is... With exception of the Zerrikanians. Should you believe the tales of travelers returning from the Continent's far east, the folk of Zerrikania make sacrifices to the reptiles and erect temples in their honor. What's more, they consider dragons the embodiment of virtue and beauty. Any who raises sword or bow against one shall suffer punishment of the greatest severity. What truth can be found in such stories, however, is difficult to discern...

Chest 2: Dragons are a rare sight on the Continent, yet accounts of destruction wrought by the beasts still widely circulates. When an expert arrives at the scene of an attack – a witcher, as is often the case – they often conclude it's not the work of a dragon. Far more commonly, a slyzard, forktail, or wyvern is the culprit. Rumor has it, golden dragons find such comparisons highly offensive...

Chest 3: The most famous of dragons was likely Villentretenmerth – known in his human form as Borch Three Jackdaws. Unlike others of his species, he had sympathy for humans and enjoyed spending time with them. This was especially true in the comfort of taverns and inns, the tables heavy with hearty fare, in the company of troubadors and the fierce female warriors of Zerrikania...

Scroll 1: Green, red, black, white, gold... There are several dragon varieties. They differ in color, of course, but also in size, intelligence, and their abilities. So, in what way are they alike? Simple. They're all deadly.

Scroll 2: Perhaps it is because of their deadliness that witchers do not accept contracts on dragons. They point to their mysterious witchers' code as the reason, yet it is rather apparent that even the famed monster slayers fear these particular draconids.

Scroll 3: Because witchers refuse to slay dragons, the task falls to other would-be heroes. Sometimes, a knight-errant may vow to duel the winged beast. Other times, local peasants may seek to protect their village the best way they know how... By stuffing a sheep's carcass with poison.

Scroll 4: Regardless of the method, however, most attempts at dragonslaying usually end poorly for the would-be slayers. Yet, if that's true, where are all the dragons? Well, according to legend, they have flown across the Great Sea, to lands as yet untainted by humankind.

I’m reading a non-canon short story written by Andrzej Sapkowski about Geralt and Yennefer’s wedding called Something Ends, Something Begins and my heart is literally so full. Even Asaps has to get tired of having so much angst so this short story is a literal fluff-fest and I love it so much. 

So I thought I would share some of my favorite quotes from the story and if you all want to read it, here is the link. 

"One day she'll break her neck," growled Yennefer, watching Ciri galloping in the splashing water, bent, firm in the stirrups. "One day your crazy daughter will break her neck."

Geralt turned his head and without a word looked into the sorceress's violet eyes.

"All right, then," smiled Yennefer, without averting her eyes. "Sorry, our daughter."

She hugged him again, pressing herself against him firmly, bit him in the arm again, kissed him, and bit him once more. Geralt touched her hair with his lips and carefully pulled her gown over her shoulders.

I am literally...I swear, we finally get domestic Yenralt and it isn’t even in the canon universe. I am literally going to fight someone. This is so damn cute and the way Yennefer is like “our daughter” my goddamn heart. 

The list of the guests wasn't that long. The engaged couple compiled it together and charged Dandelion with sending the invitations. Soon it turned out that the troubadour lost the list before he could even read it. Because he was ashamed to confess, he used a cheap trick and invited whomever he could. Of course he knew Geralt and Yennefer well enough that he didn't miss anyone important, but it wouldn't have been him if he didn't enrich the list of the guests by an admirable number of quite random persons.

Why does it just make sense that Dandelion would fuck this up? It’s so in-character, putting him in charge of the guest list was the first mistake. 

No one invited the golden dragon Villentretenmerth, because no one knew how to invite him and where to look for him. To the general astonishment the dragon turned up, of course incognito, in the form of the knight Borch Three Jackdaws. Of course, where Dandelion was present, one could not speak of any incognito, but even so few believed when the poet pointed at the curly-haired knight and claimed it was a dragon.

The image of Dandelion just pointing at this dude and yelling “He’s a dragon!” is fucking hilarious, especially when you consider most people don’t know dragons can shapeshift.

"No," the witcher shook his head and silently praised the fact that the mutation of his blood system didn't allow him to blush.

"Not me. I think it was Dandelion, even though all of them claim to have learned about the wedding from the magical crystals."

"I don't want Triss to be present on my wedding!"

"But why? She's your friend."

"Don't make a fool out of me, witcher! Everyone knows you slept with her!"

"That's not true."

Yennefer's violet eyes narrowed dangerously.

"It is true."

"Is not!"

"It is!"

"All right," he turned around angrily. "It is true. So?"

The sorceress was quiet for a moment, playing with the obsidian star on the black velvet ribbon around her neck.

"Nothing," she said at last. "I just wanted you to admit it. Never try to lie to me, Geralt. Ever."

I love the little bickering. Also, like, even though Triss and Yennefer are friends try valid of her to not want her at the wedding. She slept with Geralt!! Love how Geralt tries to deny it at first but gives up ten seconds later. Geralt really tried to pull the “just friends” card and Yennefer was having NONE of it. 

The doppler accused Villentretenmerth of racism, chauvinism and lack of knowledge on the discussion's topic. Therefore, the insulted Villentretenmerth changed for a moment into his natural dragon form, destroying several pieces of furniture and causing a general panic. When the situation calmed down, a fierce quarrel began, in which humans and non-humans accused each other of lack of open-mindedness and racial tolerance. 

A quite unexpected twist in the discussion came from the freckled Merle, the whore who didn't look like a whore. Merle announced that the whole debate was stupid and pointless and didn't concern true professionals, who don't dinstinguish between such things, which she was willing to prove on the spot (for an adequate reward, of course), even with the dragon Villentretenmerth in his natural form. 

In the silence that fell abruptly in that instant they heard the female medium proclaim that she's willing to do the same, and for free. Villentretenmerth quickly changed the topic and began discussing safer topics, such as economics, politics, hunting, fishing and gambling.

Everything about this sequence is perfect, absolutely prime. Dragons and Dopplers fighting, Merle saying she would fuck a dragon in dragon form. This has EVERYTHING. 

"I'll get going right after the feast," Ciri repeated. 

"I want... I want to feel the wind in my face on the back of a galloping horse again. I want to see the stars on the horizon again, I want to whistle Dandelion's ballads at night. I'm longing for a fight, the dance with a sword, I'm longing for the risk, for the delight victory brings me. And I'm longing for solitude. Do you understand me?"

"Of course," Geralt smiled sadly. "Of course I understand you, Ciri. You're my daughter, you're a witcher. You'll do what you must. But I must tell you one thing. One thing. You can't run away forever, even though you'll always try."

"I know," she replied and cuddled herself closer to him. "I still have hope that one day... If I wait, if I'm patient, then I, too, perhaps will live such a beautiful day like this... Such a nice day... Even though..."

"What, Ciri?"

"I've never been pretty. And with that scar..."

"Ciri," he cut her off. "You're the most beautiful girl in the world. Right after Yen, of course."

"Oh, Geralt..."

"If you don't believe me, ask Dandelion."

"Oh, Geralt."

Ciri telling Geralt she wants to travel and move on is just heartbreaking but it makes sense. She has more adventures to go on. Geralt’s story is ending. Hers is beginning. Also Ciri feeling insecure about her appearance and Geralt being a good dad and comforting her? Amazing. 

"I have unfinished business there," she hissed. "For Mistle. For my Mistle. Even though I avenged her, but for Mistle one death is not enough."

Bonhart, he thought. She killed him out of hatred. Oh, Ciri, Ciri. You're standing on the edge of an abyss, daughter. Not a thousand deaths would avenge your Mistle. Beware of hatred, Ciri, it consumes like cancer.

"Watch out for yourself," he whispered."I'd rather watch out for others," she smiled ominously. "It pays off more, it works better in the long run."

I will never see her again, he thought. If she leaves, I will never see her again.

"You will," she answered unexpectedly and smiled with a smile of a sorceress, not of a witcher. "You will, Geralt."

When Geralt asks what Ciri plans to do on her travels she literally says: I am going to avenge my dead girlfriend and murder some people. Which is not a healthy coping mechanism but damn if the idea of a gay revenge story doesn’t sound good to read. 

The priestesses Iola and Eurneid also sobbed, when Yennefer refused to put on the white wedding dress they had made for her. Not even Nenneke's mediation helped. Yennefer cursed, threw around hexes and dishes, while repeating that she looks like a fucking virgin in white. 

The enraged Nenneke began yelling, too, and told the sorceress that she behaved worse than three fucking virgins at once. Yennefer responded by conjuring a ball of lightning and demolishing the roof of the corner tower, which had its good side, too. The crash was so terrible that Caldemeyn's daughter got shock from it and her diarrhea stopped.

Once again, this scene has EVERYTHING. Yennefer getting so pissed it demolishes a tower. The shaking being so bad it stops diarrhea. Also, why does Asaps use diarrhea so often in his books? You know what, I don’t want to know. 

Triss Merigold and the witcher Eskel from Kaer Morhen, were seen again, sneaking, arms linked, into the garden summerhouse.

Is that...IMPLIED TRISSKEL?? OKAY THEN. All the Trisskel friends out there: They hooked up at Geralt and Yennefer’s wedding I don’t make the rules. 

"Yen..."

She looked breathtaking. Black wavy locks, curled up with a golden tiara, fell in a shining cascade over her shoulders and the high collar of a long white brocade dress with black-striped sleeves, pulled together on a bodice with countless drapes of lilac ribbons.

"Flowers, don't forget the flowers," warned Triss Merigold, all in dark blue, and handed a bouquet of white roses to the bride. "Oh, Yen, I'm so happy..."

"Triss, darling," sobbed Yennefer all of a sudden, upon which both sorceresses embraced and kissed the air around their ears and diamond earrings.

"Enough of those endearments," ordered Nenneke, smoothing the folds on her snow-white priestess dress. "We're going to the chapel. Iola, Eurneid, hold her dress, or she'll kill herself on the stairs.

Triss and Yennefer’s friendship is so sweet sometimes. Like, they would literally murder each other but they would also murder FOR each other too. 

Yennefer approached Geralt and with a hand in a white lace glove she straightened the collar of his black cloak, embroidered with silver. Geralt offered her an arm.

"Geralt," she whispered into his ear. "I still can't believe it."

"Yen," he answered her in a whisper. "I love you."

"I know."

I don’t know is Asaps is purposefully referencing Star Wars here but either way this had me tearing up. Geralt and Yennefer deserve a happy ending and even if it’s not officially canon the author wrote it so this is canon in my head. 

The wedding was splendid. Ladies and maidens cried collectively. Herwig was the master of ceremony, a former king, but still a king. Vesemir from Kaer Morhen and Nenneke stood in as parents of the betrothed couple, Triss Merigold and Eskel as witnesses. 

Okay but why is Asaps sneaking in the Trisskel? I want more of it and this pairing definitely intrigues me. Also Vesemir and Nenneke as their parents? That’s so damn sweet. I swear to fuck this entire short story is too damn cute and I want more of it. 

I cannot stress how much I love the energy Merle brings to the table. Saying she would straight up fuck a dragon. The power of it all.

WiP Wednesday: Saskia Coming of Age Story

Today’s snippet is small, but it comes with info about a new story all about Saskia! 

I wanted to try to explore a Saskia that was a little less self-assured and assertive than my usual portrayal of her. At first I thought I was gonna do that through a romance and like, there might still be elements of that. But it’s really a coming of age story.

Premise: Dragons develop quickly. Within their first two years, their parent(s) teach them all they must know, and then they venture out into the world on their own. Saesenthessis explores the continent/globe for a while all alone, but when she starts to get lonely, she finds herself curious about the dwarven city of Vergen. But two-leggeds hunt dragons, so to protect herself, she polymorphs into her human form. But she’s never actually met a human before. So while she learns how to do that, she lives in the human ghetto of Vergen (the area where the Scoia’tael stay in the game) in a lil house and ends up building a community around her. Also at some point in here, Iorveth shows up. Idk when exactly tho.

So I think the bulk of the story is going to be Saskia learning how to human in Vergen and like, slowly learning about humans and dwarves and elves and also how to fight. Eventually, she decides to join the Aedirnian army (after she can fight or do they teach her?)

She works hard and trains with the army and makes friends with everyone she can, but no one knows who she actually is. She finds herself desperate to talk about stuff, so she adopts a stray cat and talks to it - all about what she’s learning and how she’s messed up and how weird mammals are and suchlike.

Eventually a general in the army sees her sparring or something and decides she has potential and enrolls her in officer’s training, where she gets taught how to read and write (but only in ‘Common’. I think she also gets taught Elder by some dwarves though). 

She sees all the stuff going on around her and has strong opinions on it, but she doesn’t really know what to do with these feelings. Until she meets Iorveth.

So, this is my canon for how they meet, but for this specific fic, it might need to change a little? idk. I had a comic half drawn of this, but I lost it when my computer bit the dust along with all my other art. 😞

Anyway, Saskia is flying around as a dragon (she needs to resume her natural form every so often + needs to absorb fire to sustain herself) when she hears screaming in the forest. So she lands and transforms and goes to the rescue of whoever was screaming - only to find that to be a human being tortured by Iorveth. Her interference lets the human run away and Iorveth is more than a little pissed about it. They argue a bit (all “this is not the way to make change!” and “yeah, you got a better idea?”) and then Iorveth ends up shouting something like, “who are you to talk? You’re nobody doing nothing significant” or something harsh that makes Saskia realize that she needs to put her money where her mouth is. More, that she wants to do that. But she doesn’t know where to start. So she goes looking for Iorveth and thus begins a beautiful friendship. Jk at first they’re kinda prickly with each other ‘cause Iorveth can’t quite believe that a human actually wants to fight for change. 

I have no idea how he finds out that she’s a dragon, but at some point before that, they’re just chatting or something and she’s feeling low on energy, so she just walks into a fucking campfire and Iorveth about has a heart attack, because “omg are dh’oine impervious to fire now!? wtf!?!?!”

Anyway, inspired by Iorveth, Saskia works to move into positions of leadership and becomes a commander (general?) in the Aedirnian army. Of course, this is the witcher world, so she mostly discovers that beaurocracy’s a bitch and the system is fucked. If they wanna change the world, they’re gonna need to overhaul the whole thing. But how do they do that? 

Thus the Free Pontar Valley is born. So like, basically, this is a story of how Saskia gets to be who she is in canon. 

Anyway, I gotta start work soon, so have a snip from the very beginning where Villentretenmerth teaches Saskia to polymorph for the first time.

“As you know,” her father began, voice deep and gravely in her head, “you will soon be of an age to go out on your own. But before you do, I have one thing left to teach you.”

“Mmhm,” she hummed absently, eyes tracking the trajectory of a huge bee as it buzzed around their cave.

“Saesenthessis,” Villentretenmerth snapped. “Pay attention!”

Saesenthessis groaned, “yes, father.” She huffed a breath of smoke at the bee, then turned her snout back towards her father.

The sun reflected off of his golden scales in a way it never did with her green ones, and Saesenthessis found her eyes tracing the rainbow-like patterns on the walls of the cave.

Villentretenmerth’s sigh was deep and heartfelt and Saesenthessis guiltily refocused on him.

“This is important,” he scolded her. “I have told you how dangerous the world is for dragons. We are some of the last in existence.” There was deep pain in her father’s voice and it was echoed in Saesenthessis' heart. She had never known other dragons, but her father had shared sense memories from days when he’d flown with a whole hoard of dragons around him. “In order to stay safe, or even just to walk amongst a different people for a time, you must be able to assume many forms.”

“Why would I want to be something else?”

Her father hummed, a rumbling sound in his chest. “This world is mostly made up of two-legged species. They do not understand dragons, do not understand how to communicate with us, nor can most be bothered to try. Instead, they hunt us for our hoards out of greed, believing that all that we treasure must be precious gems and gold.”

“Rubies are pretty,” she muttered. “I’ve heard this lecture before, Father. But why do two-leggeds matter? Can’t I just be me forever?”

A wave of sadness from her father made her wince and curl in on herself. She hated making him sad.

“Once,” he said softly, “that would perhaps have been possible. When there were enough dragons in the world, you could stay in this form for a lifetime without trouble. But the world we live in now? It’s… it’s lonely, Saesenthessis. All beings must build ties to those around them. When two-leggeds are all that are around…” Villentretenmerth sighed heavily. “It’s not so bad, really. You’ve liked Teá and Veá when they’ve come around, have you not?”

“I guess? But what about the other two-legged species?”

“There are a number of them,” he nodded. “We will go through each of them. But first things first. Let’s start with how to polymorph.”

She still didn’t understand why, but she kept quiet and let the lesson move on.

If Malleus' real form truly is a dragon (according to Lilia's comments + Halloween event spoiler) then, you all can't stop me from having flashbacks with the zerrikanian bodyguards from The Witcher worshipping Borch Three Jackdaws/Villentretenmerth.

Imagine Yuu/someone else making a question about Malleus only for Silver or Sebek to answer "Because he is the most beautiful". I'll be done for.

Thanks for reblogging so much that criticizes the netflix show man. Whenever I go into the tags everybodys just saying how good the show was and how good of a character Geralt was and I'm just wondering if Im in the wrong dimension or watched a different show

oh hell yea ofc im gonna criticize this. on r/netflixwitcher they’re keen to bad people who rightfully criticize the show, and that’s bullshit imo. as long as the criticisms aren’t anything 1) caused by gamer brain rot (i.e., “why doesn’t geralt have two swords on his back,” “why doesn’t geralt have a beard,” “why is the witcher medallion a coin”), or 2) stupidly racist (”why are the dryads black?” “why isn’t yennefer pale?”), or 3) stupidly misogynistic (”they made it “feminist,” fuck that”) then im all for it.

i really feel like the book fans got snubbed with this show because they explicitly advertised it as being based off of the books and assured book fans that the cast and showrunner had read the books and respected them, and then didn’t follow through on trying to make them accurate to the original texts at all. i’m not a purist, i’m okay with interpretation and editing things in to fit time or adding in an explanation or two or cutting superfluous dialogue/lore explanations that aren’t necessary, but they changed so much by cutting a lot of things out and adding unnecessary things in that it changed the essentials of the four main characters (and also quite a few side characters, like cahir and fringilla).

geralt is kind, patient, and dislikes violence and is very intelligent, eloquent, and conversational, and protective of the vulnerable and his loved ones, and the reason he scorned his link to ciri was because he didn’t want to introduce her to his violent life, not because he just hated the idea of having a kid. 

jaskier is intelligent and talented and is a true master of his art. and geralt enjoys and appreciates his company and wants to have him around and protects him, etc, etc. jaskier is only considered “annoying” at times because he’s talkative and tells geralt truths about himself that he doesn’t want to face, and also because he has quirks like wanting to write and say reports in verse (to djikstra’s frustration). he’s also a little more of a scoundrel, and he’s a great flirt who easily gets women (unfortunately, because he soon drops them).

yennefer does not scorn aretuza, nor should we immediately feel pity for her due to her backstory b/c she’s so much more than that, nor was she the hero of sodden. she’s much more noble and isn’t an ungrateful brat who now hosts orgies just because she can, and fuck tissaia amiright. she also never gave her reproductive system up as a choice (she’s just infertile, her ovaries don’t function because she is a sorceress (visenna was a biological outlier), she didn’t get her ENTIRE WOMB taken out just so she could get magical plastic surgery). her goal to be a mother is something more innate in her i think, something that comes from wanting to also protect the vulnerable.

ciri is a little more spoiled (but they cut out the sword of destiny so this isn’t freya’s fault). i didn’t have much qualm about her because she just simply didn’t get a chance to show the viewers who she is.

calanthe is the lioness, true, but she isn’t a brute nor is she a genocidal maniac (also how would filavandrel EVER get to cintra if he lives in the mountains .). shes a refined and menacing powerful ruler who commands dignity and respect, not just someone who stirs up violence and wanders in bloody off the battlefield. also i dont remember her being so horny for her husband.

eithné uh..... isn’t that warm and nice. no offense. she does what she has to to protect the sovergnity of brokilon, so she must uphold her standards. but in the books she really was going to just make ciri a dryad and take her from geralt. also the dryads kill people of all ages so they would have killed dara (why did they only shoot his shoulder? not that i would wish for him to die, but dryads WOULD kill him).

foltest is gross but he’s not stupid like that. i think he knows what he did. also he was described as pretty in the books (unfortunately)

borch/villentretenmerth is called the most beautiful for a reason... im really not trying to critique the appearance of the actors, because acting is more important than appearances, but for borch it matters because that’s literally his title. he doesn’t wear a tunic that looks like dragonhide (painfully obvious), and he is a little more enigmatic and charming. 

cahir isn’t a nationalist freak committed to his job and he was only in the military due to familial and societal pressure and also because if he didn’t serve emhyr, he would be thrown in prison (which happens later when he fails and insults emhyr and condemns him for chasing little girls). he’s a young man caught up in the mess of society and is now in the snares of destiny. 

dopplers literally cannot be evil. also they use singular person pronouns to refer to themselves.

fringilla doesn’t practice the dark arts and isn’t a solely evil character and the secret power behind the nilfgaardian throne. she does do evil things but isn’t ruled by it, she took yennefer’s eyes out of her skull, later saved her, and then fucked her husband and hated on/argued with his friends. the woman is a bag of mixed nuts, but she isn’t straight-up evil and she doesn’t perform human sacrifice.

vilgefortz isn’t a weak baby and doesn’t get tired after casting a few spells (okay, there was ONE time when he got tired after casting a single spell. but it was, to be fair...... a pretty dramatic spell.... it was uh... too hot for him to handle, perhaps?, heh... heh..........heh..... im so sorry regis please forgive me i love you). also wasn’t he the hero of sodden and that’s why he was so important and had so much clout in the brotherhood?

no development at all for any of the characters in edge of the world, including nettly, torque, filavandrel, toruviel and the rest of the elves, and lille and the old woman weren’t even fucking IN IT!

Bit of a rant since I need to get this out. I’m just going to put this into words to articulate how I feel but I feel so much pain watching the new Witcher series. It didn’t feel like the stories anymore. The nuance and complexities was beaten down and characters changed for the worse. 

The show is good on its own don’t get me wrong but from a my point of view so much went wrong.

Why did they make Brokilon so bland? The dryads are the last of their kind, they’re fighting to survive and exist. They also mirror the Witchers where only boys could succeed into becoming one while Girls become dryads. They are fierce warriors and incredible. 

Foltest in books and games was a charming and clever man not some pathetic king who doesn’t do anything. Where’s his drive? His passion? 

Villentretenmerth is supposed to be “the most beautiful” and here he looked like a starved lizard with muscle atrophy. 

Ciri and Geralts relationship is so strong and the final moment of the short stories where they reunite moved me to tears. Here i felt nothing. They didn’t know each other. Brokilon was there. Why didn’t they properly establish their connection instead of whatever they did in the show? Ciri was a brat but she grew on you as the story went on. 

It feels like things just had to be good or evil and maybe it’s because of how short the season was. Only 8 episodes and they smashed 2 books into there? And they wanted to add Yen’s story and the battle of Sodden Hill? Why not save the Battle of Sodden for another season? Build the relationship between Yen and Geralt more. 

Also what the hell was up with Cahir?

Why didn’t we get more Jaskier and Geralt being the dorks they were? We got a little but then episode 6 happened. 

Calanthe being cryptic was so much fun to explore. She was an exceptionally strong woman who ruled Cintra after her husband died and got damn lucky to marry for both an alliance and love. 

Maybe I’m being nitpicky and maybe they couldn’t do much because of the show length but then why did they decide to have such a small amount of episodes and cram so many stories into it? It made no sense.

28: “Marry me?”

Yennefer was never one to take her time with commentary and small talk. Geralt knew this from the first night he met her, naked and disoriented in Rinde, sleeping within a pile of plush quilts and satin sheets. She always had a taste for the finer things.

He fidgeted with the small band between his fingers as he sat on the balcony of their bedroom at Kaer Morhen. He’d told Ciri that he had intended to propose to Yen, but needed her to keep it a secret. She swore to him a vow of silence, all prim and proper like her grandmother before her. How long had she been training here, every year since she was a young, fiery little girl? How long had she fought alongside him, Eskel and Lambert under Vesamir’s tutelage?. He smiled at the thought, and turned when he heard shuffling in the room behind him, then a pair of slender arms wrapping around his shoulders.

“You look deep in thought, dearest… What’s troubling you?” Yen questioned, her head coming to rest on his shoulder. He held the ring securely in his hand as he gazed over into her eyes, returning the smile that she gave him.

“I wouldn’t say anything was troubling me… Especially when I have a beautiful and intelligent woman who is always at my side.” Geralt replied, placing a soft peck to her lips before standing from the chair and facing her. He took hold of her left hand with his own, his smile never faltering, and gazed deeply into her eyes.

“Come, we can hold hands inside beside the fire. The wind is biting today.” Yen chuckled, pulling Geralt inside their room and over to the fire that blazed in the pit. They sat together, Yen reclined up against his chest, and both of them watched the flames flicker off of the stone surrounding them. Geralt held Yen securely in his arms, running his thumb over her folded hands and taking in the scent of her hair as the curls brushed against his neck.

“Yen, I need to ask you something.” He spoke, his voice soft as he took his hands from hers. She gazed up at him, and noting the seriousness that had fallen over his usually gruff features, she sat upright to face him, eyes softening as she gazed at him.

“What is it, Geralt?” She questioned, her voice tender yet guarded. “Is it Ciri? Has something happened that I don’t know about?” She prattled, working herself up more and more until Geralt gently cupped her cheek in his hand, running his thumb against her lower lip.

“Yen, Ciri is fine. She’s training with Eskel today, and he would never let her get hurt.” He reassured her, gaining a soft sigh of relief from his raven-haired lover. Once she recovered herself, she gazed back up into his amber eyes.

“Then what were you going to ask me?” She questioned once again, confusion creeping over her features.

“Yen, you and I have been through a lot together… A battle with a Djinn that destroyed most of Rinde, facing Borch Three Jackdaws who was really the golden dragon Villentretenmerth, the Battle of Sodden Hill… We’ve been separated, both by circumstances and by choice, where those choices were all on my account, but I never wanted to lose you; never wanted to leave you.” Geralt spoke, watching Yen’s eyes as several emotions flashed across the violet orbs. “When we fought the hunt together, when we finally defeated Eredin, and Ciri defeated the White Frost, I knew what it was that I valued more than life itself.”

Yen couldn’t respond. Her voice hitched in her throat until it finally fell from her lips in a throaty cascade.

“And what is it that you value more than your life?”

“Yen… You and Ciri are all that I will ever need in life.” He took her left hand, holding it as it trembled lightly in his grasp. “Yen… Marry me?” He held the ring securely between his thumb and index finger, allowing the glow of the fire to reflect off of the polished band.

The silver band was exquisitely made, with the top portion of the band covered in small diamonds, with three amethyst gemstones in the center. She had to admit that Geralt knew her well, and the sight of the band, and the sincerity of his voice, brought tears to her eyes. She gazed back up into his eyes, a smile illuminating her face. Without giving him a verbal response, she wrapped her arms around his neck, pushing against him as they both fell to the floor, lips locked together in a loving kiss. When they pulled apart, she brought her attention back to his eyes.

“Of course I will marry you.” She breathed, straddling his waist as he slipped the band onto her ring finger, a smile now on his lips as he gazed up at her.

“Only one thing left to do.” He chuckled, hands coming to rest on her hips.

“And what might that be?” She questioned.

“Well, to consummate the marriage.” Geralt replied, a devious smile playing at his lips.

“Mhm… Later, perhaps.” Yen interjected, leaning down to kiss him. “I believe we will have company in a moment. Wouldn’t want to scare our daughter off, now would we?”

Geralt huffed, but agreed, and the two of them collected themselves, preparing for the onslaught of questions they were sure Ciri would have for them once she stepped into the room; the most prominent question being if Yen had said yes.

She couldn’t wait to show Ciri the ring, and she was sure Geralt hadn’t done so in fear that Ciri may tell her his plans. But, at the moment, she was positively radiant, and nothing would be able to spoil their happiness.

Thirsty rambles about Gwent cards - neutrals

aka i made all my fav neutrals so i could talk a bit about why i like them the most

Avallac'h & Avallac'h Sage - what to say here, they're just nice, standard Av has too dull colors imo, but the premium loop is nice. The Sage? damn i love this orange/yellow whirlpool, very nice, kinda autumn feels with those leaves. both lines are nice, kinda ominous, tho i feel like english has 2 different VA, the "appearances..." line one sounds soooo different from "you will see..."

Ciri Nova - why only one? because others are just f ugly. also tbh i like ciri's av taunts better than her actual voicelines

Lambert, Vesemir, Eskel - aka Silver Witchers. now, i hated old OBT trio because they were not an actual trio (but also because they're ugly so i won't make their single cards), and im very sad that this is the only trio of cards that we get in HC, and the truth is i find this image more interesting as standard card than as premium loops, there's just too much going on here, it's chaos, it's ugly, i don't what this, meh. Voiceline comes from Lambert's cards and it's the only one that actually seems to fit the mood of the scene

Triss Telekinesis - at first i wanted to do Butterflies, that was the card i used the most in my first Dagon hybrid decks (until they Gold Immunity Update it, that is), but idk Tele just looks nicer than Butts??

Gaunter O'Dimm - i remember that in OBT i tried, truly tried, to build a deck with him, but the guy was just so heavy on RNG that it made no sense... but the loop is nice and colors, and i guess i just love all HoS themed cards

Iris von Everec - the pose, the colors, flying rose petals, the voicelines, i bet this card even smells nicely

Stregobor - just for the fact that the skull he holds turns into Renfris face, just wow

Dorregaray of Vole - love how much details is on this card, all the animals and candles, and the fact that it's canon that Darregaray looks like Lifecoach

Iris’ Companions - i never ever used this card, but just looks like something from horror, nice~ also, i feel like i have to say it, i just hate english VA here, especially the Dog

Nivellen - it's just a fun little scene :'D  #wish that was me

Olgierd von Everec - if i have to point put one HoS card i don't like that much, then that's the one, mostly because we can't see Olgierd's face, which is a crime if you as me. tho i like more "A moment. I need to smoke." line but i doesn't seem to work with this particular scene. also i remember what pain in the ass he was before his first nerf

Operator - for a very long time i though that it's 3rd Avalach's cards, i mean he kinda wear the same clothes and mask, like is not Avalach then who the hell is it? i just don't know... but he was good at coping nekkers back back in first swarm decks

Duda: Companion & Agitator - i never got into playing Zoltan, but damn Duda is one cute birdo, kinda sad that we couldn't meet him in Wild Hunt

Hanmarvyn’s Blue Dream - idk even what this one does, but it's one of these cards that only looks better animated

Korathi Heatwave - oh i loved the dessert effect it left on board, even tho it was a pain to play against

Phoenix - tho just now in HC i'm starting to like this card, previously it just wasn't very interesting to me

Renew - literal real life saver, the most beautiful thing to get on hand in 3rd round, absolutely blessed card, totally worth this gold 4th sloth in OBT, now in HC im not so sure, but still beautiful

Shupe - idk how Shupe works and i won't even try to understand, but cards are fun, and i love that on all of them you can see CDPR red chicken. you go Shup my beautiful troll son!

Sihil - cursed card of current meta, but not so op as people like to say, just be like old Emhyr and play no units at all, then he and Eithné won't give you a shit (or be like me and play werewolves, because they can't be targeted), anyway i love Sihil and i play it even with higher provisions [EDIT: i wrote this before hotfix, rip Sihil decks]

Villentretenmerth - there's here something so damn dramatic, too dramatic, calm you tits Borkh

Alzur’s Double–Cross - nice monster eye i love it 100/10 alzur knew good shit

Bekker’s Dark Mirror - another card that makes me every sentimental about OBT, all the swings you could pull with this~

Marching Orders - i like the shadows, also very useful in millfgaard

Scorch - idk i guess i love orange... and totally scorching my opponent

Impenetrable Fog - now here comes my boi! i love how foggy is this card, and i have so many good memories of weather Dagon, yeah yeah got nerfed like 2-3 times, but like, what's actually so bad about control monsters? stop fucking killing every new idea for this kind of decks, not everyone wants to play vore and deathwish

White Frost - i don't think it was ever used after nerfing frost in first months of OBT, and im not sure people are using it now against artifacts... but that's one good looking card

Crow’s Eye - another simple, pretty image

Caretaker - 1, idk who and why decided that this guy should be neutral, while he thematically and visually fitted so nicely with Monsters 2, if this is only about his new ability in HC then he could keep the old one and they could make new neutral cards, it's not like super hard or smt 3, im still mad that Monsters can consume from graveyard but can't actually control graveyard, especially now when with TB we got cards like Xavier Lemmens and Lippy Gudmund (yeah he's Skellige but like) if i can't control board with Monsters then let me at least control graveyards you cowards!
